I think the processor (9th generation intel i7-9750H) let's this laptop down, there is so much potential, but unfortunatelt, the CPU is not a good match for the graphics card. I think an i9 processor would have been much better, perhaps any of these:

Also, I have a feeling this is NOT an UHD 4K screen, as the resolution is very average. It is dim and not bright nor vivid.
The things I really liked were, the design language, LED keyboard lights, and the white colour finish. It is really nicely built and great to work on if it was slightly more capable. In my humble opinion, Not worth it's price.

I'm using it for over 2 years on a daily basis and I have to say, it's a great laptop for me!
The white alloy is VERY scratch resistent, the resolution is awesome and man, it has power! (played Cyberpunk on it in 4k)
Why I put it over the DELL and ASUS was the keyboard and creative, flawless design. I'm very fast at typing and the DELL caused some ghosting and felt a bit smushy.
Only flaws: The battery began running low very fast after one year of use, the display could get brighter and I have two pixel errors at the bottom (one dead, one red - which is okay by 4k resolution, but annoying on a content creator notebook). The colors are awesome btw. Most of the time it is very silent.
I use it for video cutting/editing, photo editing, etc (Adobe), programming (JetBrains), writing (Papyrus) and a bit of gaming (Cyberpunk, Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2).
I think he doesn't know how to set up the pc on some apps to run on nvidia😊
its 1 year now since I bought my 7D Pro and I have to say I am very satisfied with mine... it is extremely fast, I do a lot of renderings in Blender, Premiere Pro, Unreal, D5Render and so on and this thing does not lack in performance.. at that time I spent 3700€ not dollars!! and it was still the cheapest with the RTX 5000 ...would I buy it again? probably yes, bcs of lightweight, compact design.. I don't care about the screen (i didn't have any problem with it either) since I use an external Monitor (Samsung 34" 21:9) all the time

If you ask me, I’d buy this laptop because it has 32gb of RAM and it has the cool design that makes it feel like you’re using a combo of the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard and Zugu Alpha Case. However, I’ll probably wait until they have more powerful options, because 3D software(like Blender) runs better with more power.

'this is not 4k' doesn't understand res is set to 125-150% magnify in Win. this laptop will, in most cases, be connected to an external screen (like you see in all ads for the concept d) and such 4k will make a huge difference.
Isn't having a Quadro card going to be slower than having a Geforce card as well?
I'm no expect, but from what I understand, Quadro cards are built for quality over speed as they are used for 3D jobs and render farms, where as Geforce cards are for all purporse tasks and gaming so speed over quality.

Lol, its a RTX 5000 Max Q. Max Q are slower than the none Max Q variants. This guy: " is not 4K". It is 4K LOl. If you dont have a use for 4k, don't buy a 4K. 4K is for working professionals that need screen state. Meaning the Graphical interfaces on applications is smaller which gives you more screen state for active windows. Also the Display color gamut is better than other 4ks, so you are paying a premium. This reviewer doesn't know what he is reviewing. If you are not doing work that requires accurate color reproduction, dont get a workstation laptop and get a gaming laptop for cheaper, You have to know the components you need to justify premium laptops

4K is barely noticeable on small screens/laptops, you were right FHD is better for a laptop.
Regarding the low utilization, the bottleneck could be from the software you use, not the hardware.
And finally, I suggest you get a refund and save some money by building your own customized PC/Desktop which will be much cheaper and will give you better performance. For mobile editing, while travelling, you already have your OMEN.

1080p (for me) is horror on a 16" laptop. I can see every single pixel. I use an external Thunderbolt monitor with FHD and it's like day and night.

I have sent back my laptop two times to Acer, the Concept D, when you edit videos it's getting soon hot, about 99c, ypu need to turn off the laptop for about 20 mins, the other problem was the battery did not work, and the first problem was audio did not work. The support team are not the best.
You're using Videopad software and expect peak performance? ... If you spend that much money on a laptop you should use a software that fully supports your graphics card/ multithreaded cpus, otherwise you'll be working with a huge bottleneck and will not benefit from the full potential of that laptop.
Install Adobe premiere and you'll see the difference.. and make sure you configure the processing and memory allocation to each core/thread in premiere.
You should also understand that Mobile CPU's and Graphics aren't equal to desktop versions of the same CPU/graphics line, the reason for this is that they are designed to dissipate much less heat because of tiny cooling fan/heat-sink and this will reflect in their lower performance compared to desktop computer.
You should have made some research before spending that much cash on a laptop.... It would have been much better to buy a fast processor Laptop for 1500 pounds for daily usage and a desktop pc for content creation with at least 3 times the performance you get from this acer laptop.
As for the 4k screen I hope you have configured your graphics correctly and update the drivers from Acer website otherwise windows would just use a generic driver and you wouldn't get the correct resolution.
Download and install All the sound/graphics/chipset....etc drivers from Acer website otherwise your laptop will not perform to its full potential.

It's really disappointing that they didn't include an SD card slot. That 1TB drive will fill up fast with video editing files and games. Seems like it's a good all-around high-end laptop, but too expensive considering the lack of some key features.

I got the acer conceptd 7 i7 with the 2080 maxQ. Sadly i'm having speed issues as well. I don't know what it is.
I think it's the processor. It causes the GPU to bottleneck. Basically the CPU is slower than the GPU. So the RTX 2080 graphics card can't run on full capacity.

Looks like the GPU is not enabled on your software. Seems to work on DaVinci Resolve.
I had to enable DaVinci in the GPU settings, and also in the Windows settings. After that, my ConceptD 5 Pro runs DaVinci and all my Topaz AI programs without a hitch.

I think you are talking about ezel. A different version. This one has no SD card port. The 7D Ezel has one.
MacBook Pro is better for video editing. In addition, I would say that the software you are using is not on par with the hardware; I would recommend using something more professional such as Adobe Premiere Pro which most probably would yield much better results.

DaVinci Resolve, for example, has hundreds of routines, such Rendering your edits to a file. Some of their routines run on the GPU and some don't. That's just the nature of the software. DaVinci Resolve Studio ($300) makes better use of the GPU than the Free version. I'm constantly awaiting NVIDIA driver updates because some of them make the laptop faster and more stable. It's unfortunate, but being on the bleeding edge usually means we'll have more issues.
Having a high end GPU is good for video editing but it doesn't help across the board. For example, it's useless in database applications or Microsoft Office. People that don't have heavy GPU requirements will be better off with something like a Dell XPS because the battery will last MUCH longer, you can power the laptop with a dock, it's lighter, easier to upgrade, and you'll likely get a faster CPU.

@@ASMROW DaVinci Resolve is a full featured editor. It's WAY overkill for making home videos. The menus are VERY busy. Every time you put it down for more than a few weeks/months you'll have to relearn it. If you're a pro editor then by all means... but if you're a home editor then I'd go with something simpler. On Windows you might look at Filmora, or Final Cut Pro is very well liked on Mac.

Hardware is important but software is also a big deal. Try a macbook pro and using final cut pro x, I believe full specs macbook pro 16 inch will cost you between 3500-4500 pounds depending on your preference of what specs do you want. Plus it has the best screen out there no doubt.

@@ASMROW I have the ConceptD 5 Pro. It seemed slow until I set up the nVidia card properly from the driver software. And the 4K is stunning. Out of the box, it was not using the Quadro processor, but I switched it in the nVidea settings. It runs Davinci Resolve Studio 17 without a hitch!

What is the recommendation of the laptop for video editing? I am looking to buy this laptop until i see your video. Please help!
MSI Creator or MSI Prestige, Lenovo Thinkpad Extreme X1, Gigabyte Aero 15 - and the one I ultimately chose was the Dell XPS 15 - which I bought the base model on sale for $1300 and added my own Samsung EVO 970 1TB SSD - For a couple hundred bucks. it just about doubles your system's input/output to the SSD, and is really the only weakpoint I found on the base model. All the laptops I listed above are good choices, but the best build quality goes to the Dell. If you've ever wanted a MacBook Pro for the PC world - this would be it. In the end, I was leaning towards the MSI Prestige\Creator and the Dell. Also, if you are into 14" laptops, the Asus Zephyrus G14 is about $1000 and comes with a Ryzen 7 4800 that blows the doors off of all the Intel machines and runs much cooler as well. The problem is that this is a work laptop, and I've NEVER had an AMD rig make it more than 5 years without dying. Meanwhile, we have Intel machines that are 20+ years old in a dusty shop environment that are still chugging along.....I also didn't want a 'gaming laptop' that sounds like a jet engine and regularaly sees 100C temps - that's why those things don't last very long. As mentioned though, I went with the Dell. Take a look at Notebookcheck.com - they have awesome reviews and test all aspects of the laptops - for a 'multimedia' or creator laptop, they list the Dell XPS as the best. Acer uses cheap proprietary components, and this particular laptop, the COncept D7, according to Notebookcheck.com, comes away as literally one of the slowest laptops amonst it's peers - everything from network download/upload, to writing to the SSD, to copying files, to Photoshop performance, to Premier 4K editing, games, etc etc etc - in almost every test it is at or near the bottom, with the Lenovo Thinkpad Xtreme X1 scoring highest I believe.
You have to keep in mind that it's not all about the fancy hardware. It's also about how well the cooling system is designed because the higher the temps, the more throttling back of those fancy components, or reduced wattage. That's why two laptops can have the same specs and one can be much quicker. Stay away from ultrabook gaming laptops like the Razer unless you want something that sounds like a leaf blower, and is so hot to rest your palms on that its uncomfortable to type - blazing fast though, for about 10 minutes until it thermal throttles.
I think buy one with a fast processor. Perhaps try the i-7 10875H or any of the i-9 10 generation processors. Also the AMD 4800 and 4900 series are great.

@@ASMROW I actually ended up returning the Dell this past week - I didn't like the fact that the jet engine fans kick in while simply browsing the web. I usually try to stay away from stuff like HP because they are notoriously horrible with bloatware and proprietary everything, but since I still had the new Samsung EVO 970 Pro SSD, I figured I would be clean installing Windows anyways because I cannot stand all of the little helpers and applications company's like HP install. To be fair, Dell does the same thing and I actually think these two mfgs are the worst offenders when it comes to bloatware. Worse yet, they all put either Norton or McAfee AV products preinstalled and those two programs are basically viruses in and of themselves. They are so sloppily coded that they inject themselves into quite literally every single process your machine performs. And as time goes on, the resource load they command keeps getting higher and higher - chewing up your RAM and your CPU cycles. Worse yet, they are almost impossible to remove. Their own uninstallers, custom uninstallers, scouring the registry and removing keys, none of it completely removes them. You end up with nag screens ("Last chance at 40% off!") for the life of your computer. Do your laptop a favor and make formatting the first thing you do when you get a Notebook. Install only the basic drivers that you need. I swear your machine will be almost 10-25% faster right out of the gate. Here is my holy grail of setting up a new Win10 installation. First, go get Microsoft's Sysinternals and download "Autoruns" or "Autoruns64" - docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/
With that, you will be able to see every single item that starts automatically with your computer - like the Startup tab in Task Manager but much more thorough (Startup tab doesn't hardly show anything).
Next - go get WinAero Tweaker. winaero.com/
That will allow you to do things like turn off automatic updating, cortana, useless Live apps, Windows Search, etc etc along with other system tweaks. Microsoft's bloatware is no joke either.
Finally, you want O&O's Shutup10! www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10
This will help you toggle, or turn off, all of Microsoft's telemetry and privacy violations so every tiny thing you do with your computer isn't logged and secretly sent to Microsoft. I don't even mind the privacy stuff - it's the hit on system and network performance that bothers me. Like if you leave your machine idle for 5 minutes and Microsoft starts going bonkers with updates and telemetry tasks chewing up 100% cpu in the background.
All 3 of those programs are free and easy to use. They will not do anything you don't want them to do. And if you prefer a snappy, quick and responsive computer, those 3 programs will help you get there.
Anyways, sorry for the sidetrack. As mentioned, I returned the Dell and bought a HP Omen 15 with a Ryzen 4800H 16GB RAM 1TB HD and a moderate GeForce 1660ti. All for $1000 at Best Buy. As you probably already know, the Ryzen chip runs at half the wattage of a similarly classed iCore (45 watts vs 90 watts). It's also up to 60% faster in certain applications. For games, I think it is rated as about 5-7% slower than Intel, but that's a BS number because Intel can't maintain those kinds of speeds in a laptop due to the thermal throttling. A more accurate statement would be that the Intels are 5-7% faster for about 5 minutes, and slower than the Ryzen after that. All in all it's a terrific machine - aluminum case, great keyboard, 144Mhz 300 nit screen - it doesn't look like a 'gaming computer' other than the goofy RGB keyboard (which you can turn off or just make white or something if you want). I really feel that this is the best buy out there right now for a mid range laptop. I can use the computer all day long at my office, using Photoshop and Illustrator, and the thing is dead silent. Fans maybe kick on one time in an hour and for only about 5 seconds at that.
So, the HP Omen 15 coupled with w fresh clean installation of Windows is a steal at around $1000. Coupled with the Samsung SSD and it's blazing fast. Beware, the HP Omen, in previous years looks more like a traditional gaming laptop, but the models with the Ryzens (which I believe were redesigned for 2020) look more like the Dell XPS or MSI Creator - it's a minimalistic, thin, aluminum, and looks more like a business or 'creator' notebook.

Time for you to start using the paid version of Davinci Resolve to really tap into the GPU
