Great video as always, I swear you could keep the cafés near you open single handedly. By the end of your videos I generally want a shiny new piece of tech, a coffee and a gourmet lunch.
Absolutely superb, again! 🙂 Just love your "travel" style, even this look at local Brooklyn - all great stuff from across the pond - sorry to hear about the Studio, but chuffed to bits that you three can stay together - Covid's going to do a lot of that over the next 3 years, so you got sorted early. Dad looks a lot like our James May! Good to see brunch too. I think you reviewed a laptop in there somewhere 😉 Keep doing what you do - already looking forward to the next coffee!
Depends on what you want to do with it. I first got the SB3, one of the main reasons I wanted it was for using it to edit photos in Lightroom in it's tablet mode connected to the base. On that end it performed very poorly and was very unresponsive, it would constantly crash I guess the 1.3ghz base speed was not enough. Everything else was fine on it though. Little gaming and web browsing were great. I LOVE the surface display and I love glossy screens and when I got the Ezel I cried bc it was matte and didn't seem as crisp even though the resolution was slightly higher, BUT I quickly got used to it and the trade off was worth it. The Ezel did exactly what I need from it in Lightroom, I didn't have to detach and switch the screen, just brought it forward and I could still use the keyboard easily. It does get very hot when gaming on high settings but as long as you don't put it on your lap, it's fine and even better when you're connected to an external display and a keyboard so you don't have to touch it while it's so warm. It also cools off very fast once you're done gaming. Even though it's kind of a chunky monkey it feels sleek and futuristic, I absolutely love it. I feel that paying an extra 300$ for the Ezel was worth it for me to go from the Book to the Ezel bc the spec upgrade was quite significant. First off, the forms factor, so so much more convenient. Second, the 2tb ssd compared to the 516gb ssd. Third, the processor itself is so much more powerful. Even thought their both i7 10th gen processors, they're completely different. And lastly, going from the gtx 1660 to max q to rtx 2070 max q was a huge jump as well. Sure the book is smaller and lighter overall, if you're not gonna be using the tablet for anything you could find something else for a similar price that would be an upgrade. Hope that helps with you decision :)
@@LalaLa-od7se Thanks a lot for your response!! That definitely did help A LOT! :) I had the Surface Book 3 before as well but I returned it thinking the processor was damaged or something like that. I experienced the same issues as you did, it performed very poorly during simple tasks and I could even hear the fan in the tablet part going on when I was just doing a little bit of browsing or some Office work. The quad-core 15W TDP tablet processor really is the bottleneck here. I love the specs of the Ezel, it sounds like an absolute beast and I’m really thinking about getting an Ezel rather than a 2-in-1 like the Surface Book. How heavy is the Ezel? Like would you say it’s too heavy to carry around or is it ok-ish? I’m not trying to carry it around all the time but I might want to take it with me on my weekly/monthly travels. And would you say the battery is comparable to the Surface Book? Thanks a lot in advance! You’ve helped me a lot with your response :) It’s hard to get some feedback on the Ezel since it’s so new.
I've had the Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel Laptop - CC715-71-72JD for the past 3+ months. I'm a software developer, DBA, and Video Editor. The screen is nice and bright but using it as a tablet isn't very productive for video editing, or anything where you want the keyboard. Windows Tablet Mode is most useful when you can do everything without a keyboard, but if you need keyboard shortcuts then you're back to notebook mode where you open up to get to the keyboard. And if you're going to use the laptop in notebook mode then I'd prefer a Dell or Lenovo that's slimmer and lighter and cheaper, and better supported. DEAL KILLER - The laptop won't take power from your USB-C dock so you have to keep it plugged into the huge AC Adapter. And I haven't been able to find a 2nd AC Adapter to purchase so I have to constantly carry around the heavy AC adapter that came with it. I would NEVER have purchased this laptop had I known this. There are other faults, such as having to use "Driver Booster", a 3rd party app to install updates. And good luck just finding this laptop to buy because they just trickle out a few here and there. Overall it's a decent laptop but I wouldn't buy this again or recommend to anyone but artists that can just draw all day long without using a keyboard. The main attraction for me was the 2070 GPU, which wasn't offered in the Dell XPS. The Dell XPS 17 offers a 2060 though… I've been spoiled by Dell for a long time and should have stuck with them.
Thanks your insight. I bought it too a few days ago (can still return it if I want to) and I hadn't realized about the lack of power from a USB-C dock, so this will definitely weight in my decision of keeping it or not. I do love the general feeling of the laptop and the colours/screen, it just seems very pleasant and there is no other laptop that I have been able to really enjoy sitting in front of, for hours. I'm still torn between this one and the msi creator 17 with RTX 2080 Super, my ezel has the 2070 (plus 2TB SSD, my ezel has 1TB) and the price is roughly the same. As a filmmaker, I wanna use it mostly for video editing (4k, secretly I hope to be able to edit 8k with it too..) although I do like the option of being able to draw and take notes on the go with the stylus (or writing storyboards) What would you recommend?
It's easy to see why the ConceptD won't take power through the USB-C/Thunderbolt port...because the laptop requires more power than is typically delivered by a dock. The power supply that comes with the ConceptD is 240 watts but my Dell WD19TB dock only supplies 180 watts, and my Kensington dock supplies only 130. There probably isn't a dock available that delivers 240 watts, so other other laptops with high-end GPUs may have the same issue as the ConceptD. The Dell XPS 15 worked well with my WD19TB, but I haven't tested the XPS 17 with it's higher end 2060 GPU. It would be nice if the ConceptD had a feature to turn the GPU on/off because I only get about 3-4 hours from a full battery.
Your words have been very helpful for me to make a decision. Can I ask If we bring the display to the front from its clamshell hinge while keeping some gap to access the keyboard. Is the keyboard active or deactivated?
@@sachinrane4716 Yes, the keyboard IS active in all positions, until you allow it to go into Windows Table Mode. When you slide the screen forward the camera is closer and it makes it seem like the screen is larger. I really like that. It's a good laptop, but still out of stock at B&H and Adorama, but they've both been out of DaVinci Resolve Speed Editor for 5 months as well (Markertek and others had it). I got my ConceptD direct from Acer. The only gripe today is having to get power from the ac adapter instead of the dock. Acer recommends "Driver Booster 8" to keep the drivers up to date. It works well but is constantly asking you to buy it. Dell has a better driver update system.
Haha, I ran into the exact same problem! I even have the same color Brevite jumper. I love the bag so much, but so sad it doesn't fit. I really am enjoying the laptop though.

@@azzart979 I'm running that right now w/a 32G Ram upgrade. Problem is, HP SUCKS! When taking her apart, I found out that not only was she refurbished, but put together incorrectly, which is why I've had so many problems w/intermittence .DO NOT BUY HP, is my take.
