Thanks for a great review! We own a Targa 32 Aft door with a single VP440 D6 with double thrusters. It is in our opinion the best boat you can buy and own. The quality is just fantastic and we keep our boat in the water all around the year in Sweden. The size of the Targa 32 is perfect as it is not too large to handel single handed. The Carpelan family really knows how to build the best boats!
Hey Jack…you’ve done Targa, Sargo and Nord Star test vids and such…I know you stay relatively unbiased but pricing and length aside, if YOU were going to buy one(Targa, Sargo, Nord Star) which make are you picking based on performance and handling?
It's always a good day when YachtBuyer releases a Targa review! I must say you've come a long way Jack since you tested one of the first 32's on MBY twelve years ago! Hopefully people see the changes/updates Botnia has done for the model, as it is easily seen as a "unfashionable" boat at a first glance. A top notch video as always and I wish the YachtBuyer team a merry merry Christmas!
I love targas nord stars and Sargo ! And that comes from a huge princess fan! You can’t really say these are just workboats anymore. This is heavy duty luxury motorboats like a G-wagon 63 amg of the ocean. And believe it or not I think they look both good and cool. I would go for a targa 37 if I had the budget
"Kippis" boys have educated you with the key words in finnish 😀 To me its Targa, i live next to the factory and known the work etiquette they have in the company. Owner is keen on pure performance and handling. Carpelan have done good with his boats. Merry Christmas 🎉
Perfect boat really, although the sargo 45 would be my dream this one is perfect for half the money. Have a great Christmas team and subscribers. 👍❤️🇬🇧
Nice review. I really think it would be better to convert that extra cabin into either just storage, or head only. Then seal off the front cabin with its own head and shower in that space.
Comfort cabin truly makes the boat feel double the size (We have one) and one thing this boat didn't have is a full stove or microware below the burners which we have. Is it an ideal gourmet kitchen...no, but we can live on it comfortably for weeks.
Can you imagine having a 50M explorer yacht like what Sanlorenzo juat released and this is your chase boat so,you can go off on your own and explore other places. Camp out on some islands? Nice boat for a weekender
Great review but what are the differences really between the Scandinavian brands? Personally I genuinely can not decide between the Sargo and Targa. Which one is better in rough seas?
The Nimbus built Paragon 31 is another Scandinavian alternative in a similar style. Nimbus quality, while perhaps more mass-produced/industrial and less hand-work'y, is also very good. The 31 is a bit tighter and smaller than the three you mentioned (more direct competitor to the Targa 30), but the general layout is similar. Nimbus has dealers "everywhere." Could be helpful if you want to move the boat between cruising grounds all over. For UK, and Northern European use, I'd take the Targa out of all of them. For warmer weather/Med, I believe all the others have wider doors and are generally more airy (Now, that new Targa 41 does look to be a real Med boat....). The immaculate teakwork that make Targas so warm and cozy in cold climes, aren't ideal when you have sticky, suntan lotion covered people (who have been trying out the shot glasses....) trying to squeeze past each other through rather tight passageways. For more open ocean (Say, Canaries), I'd tentatively feel safer surfing down, and perhaps even going against, bigger Atlantic swells in the lower, less pointy, deep-v-carried-all-the-way-to-the-transom hull of the Paragon. Ditto inbound bar crossings, for US West Coasters.. But upwind against a steep chop, I can't imagine any non-racer planing boat being more fit for purpose than a Targa. Overall, I'd default to the Targa. They just don't mess up, and have been doing this, and only this, for decades. The others would have to prove themselves on a usecase-by-usecase, boat-by-boat basis.
Targa cost almost twice as much as a sargo tho😅 But then again the targa is twice as good 😮💨👍 If i had the money i buy this targa with the comfort bed 😍
I always remember my wet head days when I see you there with the loo roll behind you. Ah, memories of wasted soggy loo rolls. Great video and a great little boat. I will wait for the lottery and the big one.
Congrats the commenters before me who managed to watch a 17+ minute video in 5 and 12 minutes respectively 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I'd take the Targa 32 over the Sargo and NordStar equivalents.

I hope you’re kidding when you compare a marex to these boats… or you might don’t know anything about boats? Marex? Come on cheap ass build quality and handles like shit in rough sea. Rolex vs Casio… 😂
@@Thjonsson1 agree. THe comment is not from someone that has experienced 15-20 foot waves. There is ZERO comparison to a Targa in these conditions. I am sure Marex is a good show pony but when you are serious about being on the ocean nothing compares to this style of boat!
@@Thjonsson1 Agree, I don't want to knock any boat. but the Targa is the Mercedes Gwagon of the ocean (The original G wagons with a diesel and manual transmission) . Oooh. Now that is a good question. I suspect Jack's answer would be very diplomatic and non committal.
I can answer for Jack.....Targa!
Excellent question. Those are the three boat makers I would pick from too. Love Targa looks, especially in grey.
