Fantastic! Love it! I played Dorothy in this show, so it will always have a special place in my heart. :)

I love that the Trees speak in British accents. Reminds me of the original production of this play.

@RayPointer I believe the tempo is fast because they're doing the RSC version. On the accompanist CD, the tempo is actually a bit faster than the movie or other staged productions.

@MsHihihi111 That's not the point, Broadway or not. I was in a Community Theater production of THE MUSIC MAN in 2009 that was put together in four weeks that included choreography and it succeeded even for being two weeks short on the rehearsal schedule. So I know what it is like to do a rushed production. It's really based on the collective talents involved.

@harrypotterr98 That could be. I think this may be subject to interpretation by the Musical Director, however. We did the RSC version this past summer, and I felt the tempo in our version was a little too slow by an 1/8. What matters is that the audience enjoys the show.

Still waiting for some Oz-savvy costume designer to have "Nick Loves Nimmie" etched on to the trees.

This looks like an excellent production - the talent, camera work and quality are top notch. What kind of organization produced this work?

All of this arrangement is in the original score for the stage show. We cut them from our production, because as you say - they are not great! ha

@CosmosPhile I am able to appraise by what I have seen and understand the situation.
The potential was there. But there seemed to be a lack of realization frankly on the part of the director in guiding the performers on this. I have qualified my statements clearly in my original post. Sorry, but these short commings are apparent all things considered. If you have talented performers with good blocking, the attention is on the performance. Everything else, including scenery goes unnoticed.

You have to wonder why the trees are so supporting of their lumberjack. Unles they hope that after he has a heart he'll be too emotionally involved with them to cut them down.

@MsHihihi111 ??? "Too far"? I qualified my response. When you post things for the public to see, be prepared to run the risk of comments that you may or may not agree with. Most people had appreciate my input, which I try to make constructive. Lastly, your response required some "translation" since your use of "English" is a bit foreign.

@RayPointer - Perhaps you might consider the source of this production before judging it so harshly. What were the means from which they were producing? If this is a high school performance, it's very good.

@CosmosPhile I have seen better high school productions. You will note that I cited the good parts, so this is not "judging so harshly." There are weak areas that could have been better had the kids worked with a better director. These are very basic elements of theater that were obviously not explained. And while the experience was fulfilling for the kids, their performances could have benefited from having these things explained to them.

    i like tinman

  • @RayPointerChannel

This sequence really comes alive during the Tin Man's dancing. Much ot fhe staging is not good with the characters turned in profile. Many of the "antics" are unmotivated and somewhat distracting almost mocking the material. This requires sentiment and sincerity. That is missing. The tempo is a bit fast and ruins the feeling for the character, who is just singing the song without real feelng. Costumes were good except for the trees, and the set, except for the backdrop was a disappointment.

Wow the changes to this song are so cheesy and lame. I mean, good performance but the trees and arrangement. Bleh.
