    0:24 - Unboxing
    2:47 - Quick Demo, No Instructions
    3:45 - How To Build Front Struts
    8:59 - How To Build Rear Struts
    12:42 - Quick Word Before Installing
    13:12 - Front Strut Install
    19:42 - Front Height First Impressions
    20:54 - Rear Strut Install
    22:10 - Rear Height First Impressions

    Hey Will! Thank you for the video. I know it’s been a bit since you posted this… I was wondering why the rear shock you linked doesn’t seem to have the spring seat posted on MWR’s website. Is that just how it looks in the picture and it comes with the spring seat attached to the shock? Thank you again.

  • @ericlindsey1708

    Hey Will how are the KYBs holding up after a year? Im about to pull the trigger on some Excel G's for a good price for the XRS with the H&R Race. I noticed the Tein S drop is lower than the H&R race. H&R drop is 2.0" for standard Corolla so I'm assuming about a 1.5-1.75" drop...but I'm sure the H&R spring rates are stiffer. Most say the the Excel G feel quite a bit stiffer so hopefully the springs won't be too underdamped 🤞

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 года назад

      I was looking into the 4 point rear strut bar but it's discontinued so I'll have to look around on the used market for one. I will probably install a subframe brace since I have one on my blue Corolla and really like it, possibly the inner fender braces but I don't know how beneficial they actually are, and that's about it. I really like the stock XRS strut bar so I won't be upgrading that one!

      I installed it after I installed coilovers, upgraded sway bars, and other braces so I didn't feel much change, but even if it isn't changing much with the handling I still think it looks cool

  • @ChiroTheHero

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 года назад

      I can’t say fairly yet since I haven’t had enough time to make a full comparison. I’ve always used coilovers before and you can’t really go wrong with them (as long as they’re good quality of course!) I’ll be making a comparison video once I’ve had the time to really experience the lowering springs fully!

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 года назад

      I left them as is, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to or not when I put these together so I left them alone unless I saw a reason to cut them. So far so good, no issues with the ride or hitting the stops

    Man, I installed the same combo on my matrix XRS and i'm having a much softer ride than the stock suspension. I'm also getting a crashing sound from the front right. Not a good time so far. I'll have to review this.

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 года назад

      Sorry to hear that! Sounds like the shocks are faulty since you said the ride feels softer than stock, did you buy them from MWR? If so I'd contact them and see how to remedy the issue (refund, new parts, etc.) Hope the issue gets solved soon!

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 года назад +1

      @@RANDY_MAR5H It isn't extremely common for products to come out faulty like this but it does happen and when it does it definitely sucks. Once way to test if the shocks are bad is when they're out of the car to push down on shaft, and if it's very easy to push down and very slow to come back up, or if it doesn't come back up at all then it's no good

    • @RANDY_MAR5H
      @RANDY_MAR5H 2 года назад

      @@WillChang I'm pretty sure the problem I am having is that when the shocks are unsprung, mainly the front, the springs are so short that they don't fill the shocks completely.
      I saw someone had the same issue on grassroots a few years ago. I'm buying some vogtlands that have a much less intense lowering height. I'll update in a couple of weeks.

    • @WillChang
      @WillChang  2 года назад +1

      I imagine they would work without issue, not familiar with the setup of the strut-plus so I'm not sure if lowering springs would shorten their lifespan like with stock shocks
