- Gaerne Fastbacks are one of our favorite mid-priced boots. The hinge action is outstanding.

When my beloved Alpinestars switched manufacturing to China in the nineties I switched to Gaerne's mid model.
And have never looked back.
After a little crash in the woods I decided to upgrade my boots. I called atomic moto and Brian was generous with his time and advice. If the SG 12 enduro was in stock I probably would have ordered them, but these are so much more protective than what I had been wearing. (Alpinestars Corozal). They are by far the stiffest and most protective boot I have ever owned. The boots were delivered quickly and well packaged. I actually bought the fastback enduro but the difference is just the sole.
I've had these boots for a little over a year. I will say, at first, I was a little lost on the pegs, and actually ate a set of rear brakes because of the lack of feel when they aren't fully broken in. That seems better now, (or I'm used to them). Now, before someone says that's the way boots are, these aren't my first rodeo in off road boots. I've had a few over the years. But, I will say, I feel more protected in these boots than any I've had before, comfort is acceptable, and the price is affordable for anyone wanting real protection.
And one more thing, a personal choice not everyone agrees with, I'd love to have a waterproof option of these.
Great idea. I had the gx-1s but the lack of hing didn't work for me. These seem to be the perfect balance between protection, price, tech and weight. I now have the crossfire 3s and love them but they are on the heavy side. And expensive
Great review. This boot wasn't on my list before but it is now
Thank you for the weight spec. Very important and pretty much never mentioned by other channels.
Way to go, thanks for this new line of videos. Looking forward to the dog fight video.
Great review! 👍
You've convinced me. Thank you!
I'll wager the lug soled model becomes the new KING of serious ADV rider boots. I just wish I had a serious ADV bike and the time to go cross country on the gnarled BDR trails.
Looking forward to seeiyour review of the Fastback Endurance!

How do these and the Sidi x3 compare? They seem to be both brands mid boot at around the same price
Bought these boots after riding in SG10s since 2007. Felt like great boots. Super light. But not nearly as supportive it felt as my SG10s (even after 10 years of abuse). I raced a 45 minute GP at Glen Helen and I don't know if my boots weren't tight enough or what but I got some peroneal tendinopathy on my lower right ankle after the race. Still dealing with ankle pain 2 weeks later. So it could be me having not ridden that hard or long in while, the boots not being tight enough, my ankles not being strong enough, or the boots not being as supportive as SG10s. Wondering now if I should've just bought SG10s or 12s for that stiffer boot and extra support...
Solely on ankle protection, gaerne fastback or leatt 5.5, witch is better?
Hi, I write from Italy. Are gaerne fastbacks really better than alpinestars tech 7? For a price of € 300 here in Italy, do you recommend the fastback, tech7 or sg10? Thanks and congratulations for the videos.
Ciao Andrea. I do feel the Fastback is a better boot than the Tech 7. Both are good and have their place though.
Gaerne Fastback Endurance Enduro Boots are currently unavailable in Europe. Are they much lighter and more comfortable than the SG-12 for 80% on the road / 20% off-road, is it worth waiting for Fastback boots?
Quite a bit lighter, and quite comfortable. We recommend.
Does it have protection from hyperflexion and hyperextension of the ankle?
They do not have a mechanical stop for those two events.
How do these fit compared to Sidi’s size 9? Thanks.
Sidi in US sizes is a 9.5/43. Gaerne is a 9/43. Ignore the US size and focus on the EU size, (43). They are the same.
Is there hard plastic behind the burn guard?
No, just padding.
how does it compare against sidi x-power or fox motion
We like both the X-Power and the Fastback. The Fox boots are not the same build quality in our opinion.
What's the difference between fastback endurance and enduro. Are they the same?
The two boots are the same, except for the sole. The Enduro has a lugged sole. WE have a review of that boot here: ruclips.net/video/Vgv-k9Ol-m4/видео.html
@@AtomicMoto oh the one in this video is the endurance. I thought the endurance was a third variant altogether. Thanks!
This or the Sidis X-Power? Older guy, ktm 690, always looking for dirt and some challenging trails/roads and have moderate abilities...
Want to help but we do not understand your question exactly.....can you explain?
@@AtomicMoto Sorry, misspelling. The Fastback boots or Sidi X Power? Are you still riding with the X Powers? In the x powers review several months ago, you mentioned selling the G12's in favor of using the X Powers. I never met you, but it was clear you were excited and very positive on the x power boots. Thank you!
Fastback vs SG 10 for ADV and dual sporting?
Which one?
Either!! They are very similar, in fact from the pivot down they are the same. SG10 has upgraded padding and a better upper plastic. But both are good for that app. FWIW I think your apprehension about the size will go away after a few rides.
@@AtomicMoto There is a pretty significant price difference. Is the SG10 worth the extra $$ over the fastback?
Also, how likely is it water will get in despite both not being waterproof?
@@someguy5035 For Adventure riders, I think the lighter weight of the Fastback is probably a deciding advantage. They are about the same for waterproof-ness!!
The boots are unfortunately too narrow for me. Do you have any recommendations for very wide feet?
1. Try out for Olympic Swimming Team;
2. Call us.
@@AtomicMoto I called but was also told to try out for the Olympic swimming team :L. Jk haha, will do!
@@AtomicMoto I ended up using a boot stretcher with a long flexible shaft and bunion plugs over a period of 2 days (bought on Amazon), and it worked a treat to make the size 46 SIDI Crossfire 3 TA's fit my super wide feet! Going up a size would really have been a no-go for me as my right foot was already borderline too loose. Hope that helps your future customers! 😁
@@FlameHazeist EXCELLENT info....thanks!!
@@AtomicMoto 👍
When will this be in stock?
They are in stock now.
@@AtomicMoto not sure what size i would need and am getting confused by all the different sizing charts online - my foot length is approx 26cm - so which US size would be best in these boots? - thanks
@@aganatra7419 is it possible to call us? That would be best.
Dogfight with X3 and Tech7
