  • Gaerne Fastbacks are one of our favorite mid-priced boots. The hinge action is outstanding.

    When my beloved Alpinestars switched manufacturing to China in the nineties I switched to Gaerne's mid model.
    And have never looked back.

    After a little crash in the woods I decided to upgrade my boots. I called atomic moto and Brian was generous with his time and advice. If the SG 12 enduro was in stock I probably would have ordered them, but these are so much more protective than what I had been wearing. (Alpinestars Corozal). They are by far the stiffest and most protective boot I have ever owned. The boots were delivered quickly and well packaged. I actually bought the fastback enduro but the difference is just the sole.

    I've had these boots for a little over a year. I will say, at first, I was a little lost on the pegs, and actually ate a set of rear brakes because of the lack of feel when they aren't fully broken in. That seems better now, (or I'm used to them). Now, before someone says that's the way boots are, these aren't my first rodeo in off road boots. I've had a few over the years. But, I will say, I feel more protected in these boots than any I've had before, comfort is acceptable, and the price is affordable for anyone wanting real protection.
    And one more thing, a personal choice not everyone agrees with, I'd love to have a waterproof option of these.

      Great idea. I had the gx-1s but the lack of hing didn't work for me. These seem to be the perfect balance between protection,price,tech and weight. I now have the crossfire 3s and love them but they are on the heavy side. And expensive

    I'll wager the lug soled model becomes the new KING of serious ADV rider boots. I just wish I had a serious ADV bike and the time to go cross country on the gnarled BDR trails.

    Bought these boots after riding in SG10s since 2007. Felt like great boots. Super light. But not nearly as supportive it felt as my SG10s (even after 10 years of abuse). I raced a 45 minute GP at Glen Helen and I don't know if my boots weren't tight enough or what but I got some peroneal tendinopathy on my lower right ankle after the race. Still dealing with ankle pain 2 weeks later. So it could be me having not ridden that hard or long in while, the boots not being tight enough, my ankles not being strong enough, or the boots not being as supportive as SG10s. Wondering now if I should've just bought SG10s or 12s for that stiffer boot and extra support...

    Hi, I write from Italy. Are gaerne fastbacks really better than alpinestars tech 7? For a price of € 300 here in Italy, do you recommend the fastback, tech7 or sg10? Thanks and congratulations for the videos.

      Ciao Andrea. I do feel the Fastback is a better boot than the Tech 7. Both are good and have their place though.

    Gaerne Fastback Endurance Enduro Boots are currently unavailable in Europe. Are they much lighter and more comfortable than the SG-12 for 80% on the road / 20% off-road, is it worth waiting for Fastback boots?

      Quite a bit lighter, and quite comfortable. We recommend.

      Sidi in US sizes is a 9.5/43. Gaerne is a 9/43. Ignore the US size and focus on the EU size, (43). They are the same.

      @@AtomicMoto Sorry, misspelling. The Fastback boots or Sidi X Power? Are you still riding with the X Powers? Fastback vs SG 10 for ADV and dual sporting?
    Which one?

    • @AtomicMoto
      @AtomicMoto  Год назад +1

      Either!! They are very similar, in fact from the pivot down they are the same. SG10 has upgraded padding and a better upper plastic. But both are good for that app. FWIW I think your apprehension about the size will go away after a few rides.

    • @someguy5035
      @someguy5035 Год назад

      @@AtomicMoto There is a pretty significant price difference. Is the SG10 worth the extra $$ over the fastback?
      Also, how likely is it water will get in despite both not being waterproof?

    • @AtomicMoto
      @AtomicMoto  Год назад

      @@someguy5035 For Adventure riders, I think the lighter weight of the Fastback is probably a deciding advantage. They are about the same for waterproof-ness!!
