The Fastback boot was released a long time ago ( I bought a pair in 2009) and then for some reason they were discontinued. Glad to see they're back. Those boots are almost identical to what I have. Great boot and if I were in the market for boots (yes I'm still wearing my original Fastbacks!) these would be what I would buy.
@@rmatvmc Yup. I think that I paid quite a bit less than the new Fastback and I think I remember reading that the Fastbacks were outselling the SG line at the time.
Chase thanks for your videos. Very enjoyable and great learning. What do these boots weigh? And how would you compare these Fastback Endurance Enduro sole with the SG10 and the SG12? I know the SG10 doesn't have an enduro sole option. In India it is similar to the Pacific Northwest in terms of forest and mud. Also lots of rocks and rutted tracks. Not much high speed off road. But we very often have to ride a couple of hours on paved regular roads to get far enough outside the cities to a off road area that doesn't belong to someone. I am debating between the Fastback, SG12 and Forma Predator 2.0. But given that an average day's ride is 6+ hours, and most of the year near triple digits, comfort plays a big role in addition to protection. Adv boots just don't offer the protection and Toucans are too warm for my hobbit wide feet. Thanks in advance for your kind guidance.
Hi, Bangalore Avaiation. I checked our site and Gaerne's and I don't see an option for the Fatsback with an enduro sole? I can't remember the weight of the fastback but it's not far off from the SG12. Personally, having ridden in the SG12 a lot, I would always say that if you can afford the extra 100 dollars or so, go with the SG12 and get the best boot you can. As far as comfort goes, I can wear my SG12s all day long with no issues, but they're definitely not the best for walking in. The sole has great durability but is also very stiff. But it is very rare to hear someone complain about the fit of and SG12. I haven't ridden in the Predator so I can't speak for those. - Chase
@@rmatvmc thank you Chase. I found it (Fastback Endurance Enduro sole) on an Italian site. Without disclosing the price, the difference between the FB and SG12 was over $150. Since this is the first time I am buying Gaerne I thought I will go with a lower cost and reduce risk. If it fits, will look to getting the SG12 from you next year. Also just FYI the FB is 4 lbs as per Gaerne website. Thank you so much for your help. Look forward to reading and seeing more from you.
I'm looking for a boot that allows a lot of ankle movement and feel. I don't ride too hard, so the durability doesn't matter quite so much. I've got some cheap thor boots, but the front of the ankle collapses when I bend it and it hurts after a little bit. I miss shifts a lot when I'm wearing them. This seems like a really nice boot, but I've heard someone say they don't have a lot of feel.
hello, vrey nice videos !! i have a question.I am between sg10 and fastback, as i saw the only difference is the rubber inside of the bootss or their is something else?
They are both very similar. Other than the rubber, there aren't too many differences. The Fastback is less expensive but you don't sacrifice any durability.
How do they stack up against the SG-12 when it comes to protection? What I like the most about 12's is that they are the stiffest-safest feeling boots I have used (previously I had Tech 7's)
They aren't quite as good as the SG12 but they aren't far off either! You still get the protection and quality you'd expect from a Gaerne boot. - Chase
@@rmatvmc So what's the tangeable safety difference? Running SG10's still and love them, but want white boots now. Like the colour of these. But don't want to put my foot at risk for fashion haha. Ride fast single track mostly.
First to comment Chase! ;) I think that buckle adjust feature is absolutely awesome! I have a pair of GX-1s and what a great boot for the price ..but these seem much better..quality,hinges ect. Unfortunately I've since gone with Sidi's ,they seem to be a better fit for me with narrow feet. Sidi is a great boot too but I say unfortunately because I prefer the looks and probably even the quality of Gaerne slightly better.
Dang, that was fast! haha. Yeah, these are an improvement in every way if you ask me. Boots don't last forever so I'm sure you be back in G's sooner than later. Or hey, treat yo self!-Chase
Better durability and slightly more protection. But the Tech 7 has more bike feel and is more comfortable. Some people say the tech 7s don't last very long but I've got friends who've had theirs for a couple years with no issues. - Chase
@@shoua7 I would go for the size 8 then. Remember we have our fit guarantee if the first pair don't fit right, you can swap them out with another size or pair of boots.
@@shoua7 Honestly, I would probably go with a 7. I've worn a 9 and they don't fit small to me. But I also would rather have a boot be a little small than too big. - Chase
I bought the SG12s as I couldn't get a hold of the Fastback Enduros ... maybe I should have waited! I spent > £400 on (amazingly good) boots, but I don't really need that much protection for green-laning in the UK -- they Fastbacks would have been okay! Oh well.
@@rmatvmc Im not a fan of the Aplinestars unfortunately not enough protection for me. How about the Gaerne Endurance Fastback is there any review on how waterproof they are ?

Did this replace the REACT boot?
Don't know if they were meant to replace the React boot, but they are pretty similar in how they're built and both being a mid-level boot.
Whats the difference in these and the brown&black endurence boots? I havent rode in years,im looking for a great boot with alot of feel.
Absolutely nothing except the colors. Everything else is the same.

I'd probably choose a tech 7 - Chase

Better durability and slightly more protection. But the Tech 7 has more bike feel and is more comfortable. Some people say the tech 7s don't last very long but I've got friends who've had theirs for a couple years with no issues. - Chase
Chase, I wear a US size 7. Which size would I buy in the Fastback?
The Fastback's fit true to size so I would recommend ordering your regular shoe size.
@@rmatvmc sorry, I miswrote my original comment. I actually wear a 7.5. Do I size up or down? Many reviews said they run a bit on the small side.

Doesn’t gaerne have a g-series boot
How waterproof are these, i have Forma EVO Enduro boots they leak water in like a tap as soon as i put my foot near any water.
They'll keep some water out but they're definitely no waterproof. Have you checked out the Tech 7 Enduro Drystar from Alpinestars?

If I may suggest buy a waterproof sock from Klim or Sealskin.
Walmart bags into the boot
Gaerne Fastback or Sidi X3 ?
I would go with the Fastback - Chase
