Truthfully, I'm so sick of the Metallica/Megadeth feud stories, but I know you're just learning. My take from it all is that I am SO glad things turned out as they did because we still have Metallica, but would have never even known of Megadeth. I love them both, but if one wants heavier shit, it's a no contest going to Megadeth. Countdown to Extinction is a great song and video. Thanks for listening and thanks for reacting.
The sick the dying and the dead is really good but if you want more like the one you watched there’s Hangar 18 (might be hanger I'm British and we spell words differently sometimes… because we can I guess) and if you just want crazy megadeth then you might wish to visit five magics… but then there’s so much to choose from both earlier and later. It’s a literal musical goldmine you’ve landed on here. Im biased as a fan but seriously.. . A lot of this you’re going to want to hear!
Love seeing the younger generation start listening to the music I grew up with. And the music that made me follow my passion. I was blessed to be good enough to be a studio musician. I have blessed enough to play with some of the biggest metal bands in the world.
the leader of megadeth (dave mustaine) was metallica lead guitar player on the early days, but he was kicked out of the band and created megadeth as his revenge project
@@mikeortiz9664 Well in any case it's a question of taste cause for me, Megadeth drives way harder than Metallica. Just listen to Holy War or Hangar 18, these song drives so fast.
Megadeth better technical band stuck the course with what they wanted to make not what commercially would be successful. Metallica bigger commercial success and changing their sound for what’s popular at the time then in later years closer to now they are back closer to a thrash metal band still with hard rock elements. Like both bands and the history between them is so interesting.
I was at the concert that inspired this song....the Antrim forum in Northern Ireland where dave got up on stage shouted this one is for the cause ( IRA) give Ireland back to the Irish which started a riot and the band had to be escorted to the free state with a police escort
I can’t agree more! While i love Tornado of souls solo from Marty( it’s brilliant) I just LOVE Dave’s solo on this.. it’s just a “banger” .. nowhere near enough credit is given to him for it.
Aahhh, the great Megadeth/Metallica debate, both are great bands, but I'm going with Megadeth because of how Dave, Chris and Marty play where you can hear every chord and how Gar and Nick really played the drums so well it makes you fell like you can play them the same way, even though 90% of us couldn't hold a candle to any of these guys.
i heard Dave say before playing this in concert once talk about the inspiration of this song. They were playing in Ireland where he learned of the religious tensions between catholic and protestant of Northern Ireland and IRA.
32 years ago, I bought this album on cassette tape at Turtles Music. I unwrapped the cassette, put it in my car's FM/AM Cassette radio and started down a journey I could not have imagined at the time. I probably had that same look you, Lilly Jane, had during that last solo. Megadeth was not the first Thrash Metal band I listened too, that would be Anthrax "Among the Living", but the musicianship simply blew me away. I have been hooked on Megadeth ever since. This entire album, "Rust in Peace" is killer. Not a bad song on the album. "Peace Sells..." is my favorite Megadeth album. Not as technically good as "RiP" but more raw, just beating out both "RiP" and "Killing is My Business..." which is 35 minutes of pure manic. For deep cuts, and there really aren't any on this album, listen to "Poison is the Cure" or "Take No Prisoner." The other songs are plays more often, which everyone love.

Greetings from Argentina 🖐️
This is how a listening to Megadeth for the first time goes. The really insane part: this is just song number 1 off that album. It gets even crazier from here.
This is the most representative Megadeth song, it's all what's this band is about. Their fourth album Rust In Peace (1990) is an essential Thrash Metal album. The musicianship in this band always are top level, easily a Top 5 of best Metal bands ever. I love it!!! love that 90% of Dave Mustaine's lyrics are social commentaries, and have a lot of conscious topics. By the way Mustaine was in the early Metallica lineup from 1981 up to mid 1983, he wrote the original guitar solos for Metallica's debut album "Kill 'Em All" (1983), and some other riffs for songs that Metallica released on subsequent albums, but he was kicked out of the band and be replaced by formerly EXODUS guitar player Kirk Hammett, who rewrote and re recorded those guitar solos, Mustaine always have a big issue with that part of this story. He founded Megadeth with David Ellefson in 1984, and their debut album came in 1985.
Rust in Peace is one of the MOST important metal albums ever. Such a legendary album! If you enjoyed that guitar solo (awesome right?) wait to see the guitar solo from "Tornado Of Souls" taken from the same album. It you blow your mind! :)
The game Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock included this and 2 other songs that was a part of the game's Campaign or Quest mode as it was called in game, once you get to the final battle of the game, you play the 3 Megadeth songs that include in order; Holy Wars (1990), This Day We Fight! (2009) And the third and final song which is Dave's most difficult song that he had ever written prior to the setting and release of the game, he wrote Sudden Death (2010). I'd definitely listen to those 2 if you haven't already.

Dave is a legend. He is the founder of Metallica and Megadeth.
Tornado of souls...
Nuff said...
He's not metallica's founder. He was introduced to Lars and James after they'd already decided to create the band
Dave was not a founding member of Metallica
Lars named band METALLICA not Dave
Love seeing the younger generation start listening to the music I grew up with. And the music that made me follow my passion. I was blessed to be good enough to be a studio musician. I have blessed enough to play with some of the biggest metal bands in the world.
MEGADETH and METALLICA, the two best of the big 4, hands down. Can't go wrong with either.
the leader of megadeth (dave mustaine) was metallica lead guitar player on the early days, but he was kicked out of the band and created megadeth as his revenge project
From a technical stand point, Megadeth IS way better than Metallica for sure.
But when it comes to power and drive i would say Metallica is better
@@mikeortiz9664 Well in any case it's a question of taste cause for me, Megadeth drives way harder than Metallica. Just listen to Holy War or Hangar 18, these song drives so fast.
@@jdpc9391 Megadeth did speed and thrash better, Metallica were better at changing their sound and performing live, especially in live shows now
Megadeth better technical band stuck the course with what they wanted to make not what commercially would be successful. Metallica bigger commercial success and changing their sound for what’s popular at the time then in later years closer to now they are back closer to a thrash metal band still with hard rock elements. Like both bands and the history between them is so interesting.
Megadeth is cool
But
Metallica is better
I was at the concert that inspired this song....the Antrim forum in Northern Ireland where dave got up on stage shouted this one is for the cause ( IRA) give Ireland back to the Irish which started a riot and the band had to be escorted to the free state with a police escort
This song is fantastic ! Dave's solo is awesome ! This album is the best album of all times 🤗🤘
I can’t agree more! While i love Tornado of souls solo from Marty( it’s brilliant) I just LOVE Dave’s solo on this.. it’s just a “banger” .. nowhere near enough credit is given to him for it.
Angry Again is another good one too
Dave Mustaine... was in original Metallica... Wrote most of their first 2 albums..:)
No he didn't, he wrote less than half of their first album and 2 riffs on their second.
So James wrote most of both those albums
She will never look at Metallica the same again. Welcome to the good side young lady
This is the best metal album ever. Hands down.
MEGADETH > METALLICA
thats getting old we all know a lot like both bands
i heard Dave say before playing this in concert once talk about the inspiration of this song.
They live in AZ last I heard, started in CA after Dave M. (vocalist) left Metallica. Second half (wife and baby) is about Marvel's "The Punisher".
Megadeth YES!!!! You won’t be disappointed going through this journey! One of my top 5 metal/thrash bands ever! I said EVER!!!!!!!! 🤘🏽😆☝🏽
This entire album was a masterpiece !
Lucretia, Polaris, Five Magics...really the whole album is a masterpiece.
"United we stand, divided we fall" was stated in Hey You lyrics, written by Pink Floyd, by the way.
the solos in this song give me goosebumps every time haha MEGADEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETH!!!!!
dave was a founding member of metallica he appears in the credits of kill em all and in 2 songs of the ride of lightning
Hi Lily,other greats by Megadeth:Train Of Consequences,Symphony Of Destruction,Peace Sells,Tornado Of Souls,A Tout Le Monde,She-Wolf,Skin O'My Teeth,Sweating Bullets,Hangar 18,Blood Of Heroes,Mechanix,Angry Again,Washington Is Next!,and from the new album, We'll Be Back and Soldier On. Greetings from Argentina 🖐️
That takes me back, reminds me of how much I love that song
oh, girl, you have GOTTA listen to In My Darkest Hour [So Far, So Good.. SO WHAT? album]It is a kick-ass song!
Love your reaction, you were really digging it!
It’s so fun to watch reactions of this song.
I remember first time i beard this song my mind was blown, learned the intro on guitar the next day
God I love your reaction to this video. I know exactly the feeling when listening to this awesome song 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Rust in Peace is one of the MOST important metal albums ever. Such a legendary album! If you enjoyed that guitar solo (awesome right?) wait to see the guitar solo from "Tornado Of Souls" taken from the same album. It you blow your mind! :)
I remember my friends and I being obsessed with Megadeth during high school, Rust In Peace what a great Album!
This reaction video was well worth the watch.. Thank you.
Fun fact. 40 years later, still dropping awesome albums.
Megadeth has at least 4 stinker albums and Metallica has one stinker album
@@diltberg9627 everything after the Black Album blows goats.
@@JD-bc2rx yea metallica is good but I like megadeth more
Dave is a lyrical genius. Very few on his level
Holy wars is a masterpiece. Glad you enjoyed it. 🤘
Welcome to what is actual talent and music 🎵🎶
Your recognition of the skill involved in the making of this video earned a like from this first time viewer. Nice job!
Rust in Peace was their fourth studio album try Peace Sells and Wake up Dead from Peace Sells Megadeth's second album!
I saw them live on this tour. Just amazing.
I like how the "most replayed" section on the video is her reaction to Dave's guitar solo.
I absolutely love your call. When you say "Jesus" in the first four seconds, amazing!
This song is phenomenal. Good video LJ.
First part of the song is about the religious conflict in Ireland from back then the second part of the song is about the The Punisher comic book.
