    I tried this a few months ago but I found myself always wondering where is tab that was open, have I closed out all the un-necessary tabs, etc. The side panel view just didn't give that inventory for me. Maybe its worth re-trying in the future.

      right? why the hell is it a sidebar? surely it's just to be... different... because, i dont see anything special about this browser, as many of its features are in the large ones

    • @akshayrhallur
      @akshayrhallur  4 месяца назад

      The sidebar-centric tab navigation approach can be challenging, especially in the first 7 days of switching.
      This is because our eyes are accustomed to seeing tabs arranged vertically and having them constantly open for that dopamine hit.
      However, once your eyes adjust to the vertical approach and you get used to not seeing all the tabs open all the time, you will transition to more intentional browsing, which is also beneficial for your mental health.
      It is important to be persistent during the first week because creating any new habit takes time.

    Arc doesn't provide a Linux executable so that's a showstopper for me.

    • @_-Freeman-_
      @_-Freeman-_ 3 месяца назад

      Same here. If there's no Linux version, then I don't care. Furthermore, if they haven't developed using tools that make it easy to compile for multiple platforms, that just tells me they're not all they're cracked up to be and they're way overhyped.

    Everytime I deviate from Chromium or Firefox, it ends in disaster.
    For example floorp is meant to be fantastic, but it resets video playback during multi-window browsing, something that isn't a issue on firefox... I just can't win. A
    Also skeptical if Arc is actually that secure when it comes to privacy, I'd be running a IP/Port sniffer on it in background inspecting every element for phone home attempts (google data analysis servers or the AI data collecting servers)

    • @akshayrhallur
      @akshayrhallur  4 месяца назад

      Yeah, I'm with you on this. For me, I can't think of deviating from Chromium because I'm so much dependent on all the extensions that Chromium provides. And, yeah, like the browsers which have been around for years have really refined a lot of annoying things by listening to user feedback. As in the product life cycle, the iterations that it has gone through over a lot of years is their entry barrier. And, Arc, I think it's pretty secure, at least more than that of Google. Need to wait and watch how this space evolves.

    Used for a month and gave up. As you keep using it, it isn’t as good as it seems the first time. Had to go back to chrome even though I didn’t want to.

      It's quite hard to let go of old browsing patterns, those pesky neural pathways! I can relate. 😌
      Once you become used to using the sidebar and learn to browse in full screen without having to see all the open tabs all the time, and use Ctrl+Tab to switch between them, you’ll be good.
      Takes time.
