The 80/20 Rule - Arc Browser

- The Arc Browser is not a minimal product. It is jam packed with features all over the place, and it confuses most first time users, but it benefits from the 80-20 rule. This is not a review of the Arc Browser, but I set it as my default browser for 2 weeks. These are my thoughts.

the adblock they're using is just an extension called ublock origin. You can disable it through the site control option beside the search bar. I also had trouble finding it when I first downloaded the browser as I thought they're using an actual in-built adblocker instead of an extension.
Ok thanks for saying that. I actually went to the extension store to try to disable it from there too, and still was having issues. I'll give that another shot maybe
Really enjoyed your video and appreciated the research, honesty and insights. Happily subscribed!
Love to hear that! Thank you
Love your videos. Keep up the good fight. Sending positive vibes.
Appreciate it boss
Agree with what you brought up as needing to be fixed. I love this browser so much that when I encounter something annoying or broken, I still managed to stick with it. I think that's a testament to how much I think they are getting right about it!
I think I'm discovering the fixes to my issues as I go. I'm hoping to become a power user🤞
what are you currently doing for your awesome graphics? Those must take forever! Great vid 🙌
Thank you! I use after effects and photoshop mostly
Great video - I've switched to arc for the past several months, and use like 0 of the features LOL.
I honestly only switched cause I liked the aesthetics of the browser, the vertical tab layout looks cool but tbh is a bit gimmicky. I'm not sure if I enjoy losing horizontal screen space just for my browser tabs.
I think the only thing you didn't mention that is one of my complaints: performance. Arc is a resource hog, I think it's gotten better with some of the updates, but compared to Safari you are definitely gonna be losing more battery and cpu resources.
My initial intent was to review the browser and one of the talking points was performance. I later realized that I'd be piling onto the list of other reviews + there was more to talk about with the arc browser.
I'm surprised you don't find use in any of the features but still use it😟
Thanks for watching🫶
How has your channel not blown up yet? You have the best quality, no-bs, tech related videos on youtube
That's very kind🙏 Feel free to share this video if you got some value from it
it's JACF, like many other browsers.
I uninstalled Arc in two days. I'm a normal user, and it makes zero sense.
Totally understandable- I stopped using it myself other than on mobile
@@SidStartupGarage Back to Chrome?
browse for me fails at images tbh
Yeah it even failed in some clips in this video, but I wouldn't say it held me back most of the times I've used it
I'm on Windows Beta .... but for me, really Arc here is pretty underwhelming, like still a toy not mature enough. Yes occasionally I use Arc, but for most the time, I still stick to Google Chrome as it's just familiar and just works lightning fast as I expected. My opinion maybe same to you that Arc maybe good but not good enough. I don't like all of those reviews out there about Arc, like they just follow the wind and ... make BCNY forgot the most essence a nice product. I mean ... I admit Arc have potential, but for now .... seems ... sorry to say 'overrated' yet underwhelming in the flow. Also worth noting, in Windows, all macOS's version blow and whistles still being porting in .... and still a ton of bugs haunting me, which is so inconvinient.
After long term usage, I agree with your take. In the second part of this video linked below, I share my long term opinion on Arc. TL;DW I'm back on Chrome.

@@SidStartupGarage Yeah. Now I throw Arc Browser out of Windows, completely never bother (until they address my concern, annoying bugs). I can't stand with its annoying bugs which even make it unusable. One thing that I learn from Arc's (to BCNY for some extent) failures: **"Fandom hinder Innovation"**. Arc got positive yet excessive coverage since its dawn, especially its review on RUclips, overwhelmingly positive, hinder criticism and made it lack of further innovation and bug fixes.
(my context: Arc Browser for Windows app, v0.17.2 currently that I threw away). I return to Firefox and Chrome for now.
I truly hate this browser, I don't understand it and it won't do what I want when I want it too. It's confusing and ill explained.
Haha 2 months later and i agree
It's designed for a specific set of users, not the mass public. Over engineered
