  • Kristin Snowden, MA, LMFT #81413 is a therapist and life coach who specializes in helping individuals and couples in crisis due to infidelity, unknown addictions, trauma, emotional abuse and neglect. Kristin helps you explore various perspectives and options for those who realize they are in an unhealthy relationship and are looking to change the cycle. Kristin uses John Gottman, PhD's book What Makes Love Last: How to Build Trust and Avoid Betrayal to explore what destroys a relationship, how to figure out where you and your partner currently stand, and steps one can take to repair a relationship--if both choose to do so. The book helps you explore if you or your partner view each other negatively or with a sense of hope, if there is any trust left in the relationship and how to heal after various forms of betrayal. This video is for people who are struggling with how to move forward after being devastated by their partner's betrayal and are looking for education, support, and guidance on how to healthily move forward.

    Your honest brutally and truthfully honest and has been one of the only therapist that says it exactly how it should be said, sometimes people do not want to get to a humble place and say” I have a problem” and that’s so important before addressing the other ugly stuff that comes next , thank you thank you for being in this profession because love is one of the most beautiful but also painful complicated gift of life

    Hey Kristin, this is an awesome video. The part near the end about working to reduce your triggers and fear really stuck out to me. Unfortunately, my partner and I are currently separated but with a hope to reconcile after we spend some time working through our own issues. I have never been single for long (I am 25) and I know my anxiety was a huge contributor to the separation. I tried to fiercely protect the relationship and was worried about losing him, and that fear suffocated it.
    I would love to see a video (or find other resources) about how to work through those fears and build yourself up as an individual that can be whole in or out of a relationship. I've been trying to take the right steps, but this is a terrifying new experience.

      Hi. Thanks for your feedback. Read some of my recent blog articles on my website and video on healthy versus unhealthy relationships. The bulk of my material is focused on helping people become whole, authentic, congruent people.

      Yes Kristin has some of the best resources out there without all the fluff and bs. Pia Mellody, has great resources as well. One last thing I have found to help you navigate, better understand yourself and pick up some good tools is a divorce care group that you trust.

    I love all your videos Kristin. I pour over hundreds of you tube videos and you are one of my favorites. I wish you would do more videos. Especially on live addiction and marriage. Thank you. Love your recommended reading list too!

      Thank you for your kind words. I'm really trying to be more consistent with creating and publishing more material. I just posted another one today!!! Also, I'll sometime post new blog articles because its often easier for me to write than sit down and create a new video. So check out the blogs too!

    My gottman therapist was too stuck in the ways and I just wanted to talk about the affair, not my childhood lol and man oh man. So much homework

    • @KristinSnowden
      @KristinSnowden  10 месяцев назад +1

      That’s understandable. I enjoy Gottman books and concepts but I could imagine following that model with homework and in sessions might be tough.

    • @KristinSnowden
      @KristinSnowden  10 месяцев назад +1

      But, by the way, if there was an affair that’s not a marital/couples issue (though that’s something that can be explored and discussed eventually). The affair is betrayal trauma. And that trauma has to first be explored and healed before moving to “Gottman type” relationship concepts. (In my opinion)
