Yes rigging, animation, adding clothes and weight painting and exporting to game engines please.
You said it all, if Mr Abbitt can make these too, that would be awesome!
Everything A Aa just said yes plz! thanks Grant!!
PLEASE!!! you're the man, man!
You mean like this series by him?
ruclips.net/video/aAO4C_8y0w8/видео.html
It sounds like a dare )
Yes, rigging and animation tutorials would be wonderful!
Also, weight painting tutorial. That is a PAIN!
That would be really nice
This
I need help with rigging. I’m a fool with it.
Yes. I agree. My knowledge is a mess.
Look up Akeytsu. It has made rigging and weight-painting pretty much effortless and not tedious at all(looking at you Maya). It's some real next level stuff.
“You can press alt+z to enter wireframe mode”
GeForce Experience: sup bro?
mine alt+r don't work because of radeon driver
LOL
even though this is 3 years old this has been the most helpful tutorial i have seen outside of learning the basic shortcuts/how things work, i really appreciate it. gonna check out more of your stuff and hopefully make some low poly animations in the far off future
The mannequin is very useful but you gave me some precious extra tips like double press on the axis and flip duplicates! Thanks a lot!
Glad to hear it :)
Ciao Synè, didn't think i'd find you here hehe
Tana per Synergo
Actually I find that myself while I was learning myself
Il nesso segreto tra Bruno Mattei, Umberto Lenzi e Blender. Non sapevo lo usassi, carramba
My suggestion for future videos is a way to save and reuse animations in different projects reliably, I haven't seen much stuff about this.
And thanks for your tutorials, practicing this low poly modelling is making me lose the fear about Blender. It made me realize that there's in fact a bunch of folks who make very pretty art with simple models which is a relief because with more complex stuff my actual computer would explode HAHA.
The thing is I can confidently practice and refine my skill little by little and when I get a new and more powerful PC I'll be ready for the next level. I have used the excuse of "my PC is crap" in the past but now I see this "limitation" as positive as it motivates me to be creative.
good to hear :)
Blud is my savior, I am making a low poly 3D Open world Wild West game and this really helps me THANK YOU!
Grant is the Bob Ross of Blender. The skills at Blender, the tone and tempo of the instruction .... all add up to tutorials set at a high bar!
Thanks :)
Grant, I've a general modeling question, and forgive me if I get the terminology wrong -- I've just started learning 3d....: All the parts that get merged, i.e. the neck with the head, do the hidden areas still retain their geometry, i.e. do they still add to the overall poly count, or are they really merged with each other?
@@MikeHalk100 it depends how you merge them. But generally yes they are still counted
This video was perfect for me where I was at with Blender and having a base mesh. Thank you.... Everything from not doing every stop in the tut to the way you present it - great job.
8:36 "S then Z twice".
OMG where have you been all my life?!
Yes rigging, animation, adding clothes and weight painting and exporting to game engines please.
Today: How to create low poly person..
Tomorrow: How to rig and animate (please make this happen. Thanks!)
i'll do my best :) it will be a very basic guide though :)
And then comes the tutorial
the Day after Tomorrow: How to make a feature film and make like billions of $$$$$$$$$$! Yessss! Profit!
He has a character rig tutorial series. Going from modeling the model, to rigging, weight painting and finally animating.
For more effective modeling and game models look at his Blender Plank Sculpt tutorial. It's great and one of my favorites
The explanations are wonderful but I've found it helpful to watch you do the process once and THEN, attempt it myself while watching you again. Much less failure rate and I make notes for the new commands introduced.
This and also some rigging and animation would be perfect as a whole.
Keep going, you're the best! Your 2.8 videos got me back into 3D modelling.
nice :)
This is by far the best blender tutorial I’ve ever seen, you actually explain everything and show your keyboard shortcuts. Most people make a video but rush so quickly and skip steps but when I watched this I actually understood and can now understand blender. I appreciate it and I can now start making characters for my game
@bynezal lol I was going to create a 3d game but it was too big of a project so I created this 2d compilation of minigames so i didnt end up using the mdels
Thank you for, clear, simple, no nonsense instructions! High quality!
Thanks :)
Many Thanks, Grant - top quality, as always.
Super impressive to see the way you're growing this channel.
Keep going, mate - 250K subs is only a matter of time.
Thanks :)
Just completed the mannequin. Thanks Grant!
And just realized this is my first “character.”
Thank you so much for uploading, creating good base mashes has always been one of my biggest Problems in Blender. Almost all tutorials for that are from earlier versions than the 2.8 , so thank you a lot.
Thanks :)
Very Nice sir. You are my long distance Teacher... Amazing efforts by you... And please all the other students who like these videos don't go without likes 👍..
In the render at the beginning of the video the character had 3 shadows. I would reccomend turning off casting shadows for 2 of the 3 lights that you had, so that the even lighting is the same but there is only one shadow (Like in real life).
so far the only thing I never new is copy the hand and arm ctlr + A copy rotation amazing and shift + G move it in place than S for scale press X then -1 and move it in place, genius.
Yes please for rigging and animations
Definitely want to see more of it, walk cycle, rigging... but also how to model a face from a picture in low poly; see what are the most important edges and shapes in a face to keep to still look like that person and not another, but it seems a bit of topic ;-)
maybe in the future :)
I love TF2 and after using a tool in GMOD to put on cosmetics I realized something.
They separate the torso, arms, legs and head to separate objects so they can be replaced with a different model for a cosmetic.
I would love a tutorial on this. To for example have one part of the torso whole, and another where it's blown open. Giving the ability to switch the two in game when hit with a rocket or a headshort.
The way they deal with headshots is a little funny. They shrink the head to a dot and add a separate model of a cut off neck on top. Or just leave the weird shrunken part as it is.
Making a whole model is great. But what about when you have multiple pants, chains and other clothing accessories to one model? Or cutting their arm off.
And they have to model and rig it all so it's connected somehow so the arm doesn't separate from the shoulder in some animation glitch but being connected AND being able to switch it out instantly when needed..
some very good questions here which i often wonder about myself. I will need to do a fair bit of research myself first :)
@@grabbitt Thanks for your dedicated response, looking forward to anything you do.
Just what i needed!!
nice :)
a rigging tutorial for these models would be amazing :O.
If people watch your videos and actually follow through with game designing they can make some serious cash doing it so for just putting this content out for free really means the world to people who cant afford it.
Rigging and animation... yes, please!
PERFECT!! thank you
Really clear and well done, thank you for teaching.
Thanks :)
Thank you so much for your tutorials!!! Rigging and animation tutorials would be great :)
Also rigging and animation would make me feel better
Yes, Please to rigging and animation basics in Blender! Thanks
A "turn around"? Wtf, seriously?!?!?!?? That sounds like people didn't know what the name of that style was so they gave it their own dumb explanation name instead of calling it by the actual name; A fucking Orthographic picture.
Me: *Has online school*
My brain: Homework can wait...
If this is something you like and want to do for the rest of your life I feel its much more important than homework
@@NoOne-rm9lz This was actually a joke, but... Great point!
it's really relaxing. this is good
Thanks 😀
I LOOOOOOVE your tutoriasl Grant.
Thanks :)
If anyone has problem mirroring the leg and arm. After Ctrl + A and setting rotation. Shift + D, X to drag it along and when you press 'S' also press "x-1" and it should mirror . (You can use X,Z,Y axis -1 to mirror also.)
That's very helpful, thanks !
Not sure what I'm doing wrong but when I tried making the hand it ended up looking like a crab claw instead.
I would love to see a video on weight painting (thanks)
Yes, please to rigging and animation!
This was the first video I watched for learning Blender, and I love it! It has been so useful for me. It also inspired me to share my own video about Blender From Scratch. I specifically enjoy the clarity with which you explain every step. You really helped me out big time!
Please make tutorials for vfx in blender for beginners...
i know why the menus are different now, this tutorial is 1 year old, so things like x ray mode are shift z, and when on 10:26 you drag a menu to add it, ontop of pressing left click i need to press R. etc. :)
ok, so time to do the rest of the body to catch up :)
Much better than CG geeks video honestly, keep up the AMAZING work
Thanks :)
do a handpainted low poly character texturing one :) I wanna see you do a tutorial on hand painted character texturing with painting details like the face, cloth folds and other materials like leather. the asset creation stuff is finally coming full circle
Eventually yes :)
@@grabbitt I posted this request on the last vid you did with jayanam and I have a very specific need for it I apologize if its getting a bit annoying but I really wanna know how to do hand painted characters in blender. if its not too much to ask, would it be possible for it to be beginner friendly? like your wood plank tutorial but for a character? :)
I didn't know about clicking the shortcut a second time to change the axis, noice !
Like!!! This character can be used as a reference in grease pencil animation!
good point :)
please do rigging and animation.. especially inverse kinematics.. i know you already had one, but it's been 2 years.. might be a good time to update it.. thank you
possibly. i'll see how we get on :)
Yess all the tutorials man
As someone who can draw, I can say that, while you def CAN go without a reference, It takes some getting used to and if you're new at this like me, just use a reference.
I love You man I fucking Love You !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a question Can I use this 3D Model in my game without fear of copyright I mean is this model completely free or not?
Yeah
I hate blender it’s so difficult to learn and every thing that I watch about it doesn’t make sense and this is the worst one of seen because u just leave us to do the hardest parts of the body with out explaining how to do it I’m done with blender
Try my beginners course in the description
your the best dude! more power!
Thanks :)
I made this!!! I did part 2 as well!
it really suck when you speed up the video why bother to create a video when the learner cant follow what you doing in fast speed it make no sense
I said all that needed to be said in the first part. IT's important for students learning to go it alone and try the techniques rather than just following along
we're saved
I like this type of tutorial, due lack of painting (artistic), I practice on modeling more than texture painting, because I can notice the improvement :D
Also, I try to create low poly person/animal many time, ... it still look terrible, lol
Pls also make a simple walking animation tutorial on this simple box chracter.
Yes, I would love a second part of this on how to rig and animate the model!
Your tutorials are just so so easy to understand for a begginer like me it's like I am attending a University class for editing eveeytime I watch your tutorials, I just noticed that I find it really happy when I am editing and I am also planning to learn animating btw I am planning to add some persons beside the Well that I am doing right now with the tutorial that you made and incorporate this tutorial there ❤
The model I’m working on has a cycle head, a clinder neck, man skirt.
Can we use the things you made for creating a game? Or is it copyrighted?
you are welcome to use them from my point of view
does anyone know what to do with all the loose parts? like ive modeled and rigged my model but when animating and rotating body parts such as the torso, the arms and legs need to be moved and reattached, ctrl J seems to connect pieces too rigidly and ctrl p overrides my rigging parents (the bone no longer affects the object)
They can all be separate
forgot i posted this but ty for responding, did actually figure this out for an animation and heres where i think i went wrong. my initial bone pose was not really moving in unison. rotate the torso/abdomen and the shoulder blades pop off!... my bones were not properly parented to each other due to a weird bone heirarchy (ie abdomen as the center- hips/chest directly beneath it, branching into their own arm/leg child bones and so forth)
another problem was trying to get fancy with the joints, by trying to give them their own bones BUT not properly parenting to what should be 'beneath' or connected to it (i had to connect bones made for the shoulders DIRECTLY to the neck/chest bone connection). oh and for anyone else looking to animate these i recommend downloading the free addon "Animation Nodes' as it makes creating 'pose controllers' (empty axis tied to another obj's transformations) super easy!
some one here who can,t undstand a S H I T? cuz they could not pay attention? and get distrcted?
not sure what you mean?
@@grabbitt i mean i could not focus & understand anything in this ideo cuz of my net not your mistake or some thing it,s my net's mistake need to buy a new one
Always remember to repent of your sins (sin is transgression of YAHUAH’S LAW: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, & Deuteronomy) And Have Belief On YAHUSHA HAMASHYACH. HE Died and Rose Again On The Third Day So that you can be forgiven of your sins!
HE Loves you! Come to HIM!🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Why he used so many cubes, can't he just extrude?
yes this way is simpler for beginners to start of with
we want rigging and animation plz
You think you can make a download link for obj and other model types for the model at the beginning of the video and the one on the bottom right thought there the same if they are because I cant do this because I am unable to bc my hand (nvm I found it on you skethfab I subscribed also!)
Sir i am Making a game and some animations so ,could i use a character i made which looks like this?i made it myself but it looks a bit like yours so can i use it?i am asking so if you have any objwctions then i cold know before things are too late
yes. Hope all goes well with the game :)
Well tq aloot

I made it perfectly with Cubes….now I tried with spheres and cylinders I don't know what I made ...xD
Pro in blender.
Alt + R for clearing rotation doesn't work on me, it just opens the AMD Graphics software thing.
Edit: I was talking about the AMD Graphics Overlay. If that is an issue for other people as well, open the AMD Graphics Overlay, go to Preferences -> Hotkeys, check the "go fullscreen" option (it should be bound to Alt+R) and press Delete. That will clear the hotkey and you can now safely clear rotation in Blender.
Pls do 3.0 :c
After Making the base model, How am i supposed to add some extensions to it? Extensions like Armor Plates and Stuff and also to rig them simultaneously. PS:- I have rigged my model following the rigging method in your other video,
Subdivisions!
In the high school halls
In the shopping malls
Conform or be cast out!
This video was good because it contained only what was needed :)
Thanks :)

making a low poly person is also a great way for PS1 fans to imitate the graphics of their favorite console if they didn't have the N64
I used female spybot for model sheet it ended up looked like thicc.
This video is gold for me, and im not even a person who speak native English. Ty for making this video for morons like me who are starting on blender
Hi,Grant Abbitt@12:15 scale x minus one not working here,did you mean"1,shift + d; 2,press x; 3,move across; 4,press "S",then press "X"? i'm stuck on here.
you may have to set any scale and rotation perhaps with ctrl a
Tho it worked to mirror limbs to the opposing side, I still don't understand the Apply (CTRL A) function. What is the command actually doing, say when Rotation is selected, and why does it have the effect of subsequent rotate commands to apply to the group and not individual objects? Oh, and somewhere along the line I fat-fingered a command that combined the torso, waist, and hips into one object and I don't know how to revert it back to the three respective objects. I had to rebuild each object.
Nevermind. I answered my own question. It dawned on me after watching you use APPLY a few times. The limb parts were rotated on their local axis. So mirroring or duplicate s x -1 will not mirror through the world plane as expected. APPLY applies whatever transform you've done relative to world coordinates. So a mirror across a world plane will result in the expected orientation.
I honestly didn't know you cloud just drag and drop photo's in the viewport.
Id absolutely love if you did another collab with @Jayanam, where you take this fine low poly gentleman, export him to Unity3d, and then export the shield you guys made earlier into unity. Then, make a "pick up" animation for this low poly man, and have jayanam make a button press script, to have an animation play, where he picks up the shield, and attaches it to his hand. Or maybe where the character model changes to a different version holding the shield, after an animation of him bending down to pick it up plays. Itd be an awesome way to represent the flow of transitioning a blender model & animation, to unity as player character or npc. Itd show us better how to bring a blender project to unity, and make it interactable. The shield is already done, and that was an awesome set of videos, this would be a great sequel, for those seeking to animate & game design.
it could get complicated but we will hopefully do some more stuff together soon :)
I have a question. Once you have sculpted and rigged this simple person. You can still go on to edit and add more detail after this step, can't you? Or do you have to have something fully sculpted before rigging?
Fully sculpted 1st
I didn't understand anything

I hope you don't mind me saying I'd like to see a more advanced version of this, specifically how to make a character model based off of 5th generation game consoles like the N64 or the PS1
Eventually 😃
Yes not a lot you can do with this mannequin after a couple of hours work.
Could I make the model more detailed?
yes just add to the detail in the cubes
