Learned a lot. Eating out and quit fast food if I get hungry while running errands I bring snacks or I go to a deli where I can make my own green salad and choose my protein. Those options make it that I don’t eat burgers 🍔 and tacos 🌮 and other fast foods. (If I do get fast food I go to my favorite taco place and they make delicious fresh veggie taco with black beans that I love and a grilled fish taco, yes I’m aware they have salt on them but it’s a treat and things were so much worse.)
actually you can do fasting & eliminate one meal in a day.. so the body could rest for a while.. start fasting 12 hrs. then 15 hrs. or 18 hrs. eat 2x a day... Just drink water when hungry.. that's what I did, feel light, HDL increase, low LDL.
Hiya Doctor, Thank you very much for such a comprehensive explanation and beautifully presented, particularly the meal plans. I'm quite surprised how much can be eaten on this diet. I'm starting this DASH and sticking to it. Happy New Year from England, David. I've also subscribed.
Hi Doctor Lindsay, thanks so much for some valuable information and most importantly you gave me some ideas about breakfast, lunch and dinner with snack, i really love this because like everyone else put some much things on RUclips but no ideas about food choices, over here your video is so educational. Both me and my husband going to use this video of yours and work on it. Thanks again. With kind regards from Sydney, Australia.
My goal is to keep my sodium down to 1500 a day. I have just started to lower my sodium in the last couple of weeks and have lost 10-Ibs. I developed a excel sheet that helps me keep track of my calories, carbs., protein, sodium, potassium, magnesium and more. I was wondering if couscous acceptable on the dash diet? Thanks for the information it is what I was looking for to help me get on the right track!
Wow that’s great! Thanks for sharing your progress and motivation. I know it will inspire others. Yes couscous is a great option. They do make whole wheat couscous. 😊
I bought the book... I was surprised to see they put Jell-O in this diet and tomato and fruit juice.. i saw a couple of unhealthy foods in this diet. But in general, its just to eat more veggies and whole grains.
Anything in a can is going to jump the sodium, including vegetable juice, and bread very high sodium and buns vetter to eliminate them, sweets better to forget desserts
I like to thank you for all your good advice in fact I like to visit you and do a breakfast, lunch and dinner, so what would be a good day and what airport do I fly to?
@@dr.lindsaymarie Please believe me that I only have good intentions for wanting to visit you and that is because I want us to spend quality time together getting to know one another better to determine if we should try and spend the rest of our lives together as husband and wife the right Godly way its supposed to be. Like singer Beyonce said "make him put a ring on it". I mean you are worth it right? Well think about it and pray about it then let me know. Either way thanks for your time and please have a rest of a wonderful day.
Things I love for cooking: Salt, Butter and Heavy cream. Things I Love for general consumption: liquorice, alcohol and chips. Things I should avoid, all above. Now to a question. I live in Sweden. I have access to game. Moose specifically. Should I avoid that as well and stick to fish and chicken?
Thank you for asking! Yes my Chalazion is fully gone now. I am left with a slightly different eyelid crease but you can’t really tell. I ended up doing only one session of IPL.
I later found out that I had an intestinal parasite from traveling. I believe this was the cause of my chalazion and other eye inflammation. Once the parasite was cured, I no longer had issues with my eyes. 🙏🏼 I plan to make a separate video about this! Stay tuned 😉
Why not include a public link to the chart in ur video...u can use a note sharibg open source free thibg like trillium note taking to make links for us
I thought the procedure itself was very uncomfortable. I did not want to go back for a second one. But I also feel like the person who did my IPL session was not very gentle so I think it just depends on who you see.
@@dr.lindsaymarie Yes, it was a genuine question. I need to get my BP down, and this is what the NP handed me. I honestly don't understand the high carbs. Not trying to be critical. Just seeking to understand.
The only thing that sucks is I suck at cooking, no one ever taught me. So it’s so complex that I end up just going to the store or the nearest restaurant 😢
No one showed me either, but I remember just watching cooking shows often and picked up some tricks from them. There are so many RUclips videos, you could probably find one that shows basic cooking skills. Start with basic things and just try recipes. Practice makes perfect 😊
a lot of products which are mentioned here are the opposite of what I learned from Dr. William Li, the world renowned Dr. Scientist, author. & also Dr. Berg teaching.
As a reminder, these videos are for educational purposes only. Some of the examples from this diet came from the Mayo Clinic website. You may adjust the diet as you prefer. :)
Honestly, DASH is too vague to be called a diet. It's more of a loose recommendation. Any time I see recommendations for food under DASH its like they are reading off a list of what you shouldn't eat to reduce kidney stones. If you find yourself at that crossroad you're pretty much left with gruel and water.
If you're not seeing results, add exercise, but the diet alone does work! Be consistent. You'll see change soon. Also stop drinking alcohol if you drink.
@@dr.lindsaymarie There have been studies comparing both together for lowering blood pressure, and keto has overwhelmingly crushed the DASH diet. You should read those studies. At the same time, diabetics were able to stop their medication, which DASH did not achieve. So if we compare and do such studies with those results, we can say that the other is better. Clearly better
@MeredithMinsky People should read more and more diversely about the cholesterol hypothesis in all aspects. Then maybe you could change your point of view on the matter. Maybe:)
How can a “healthy diet” include bread and margarine? We need to stop listening to the medical campus for nutritional advice, they have zero schooling or training in anything diet related. Eat real food and take a walk every day, stop making it so difficult.
For your information I have a bachelors degree in nutritional sciences, and I have studied nutrition extensively outside of my medical training. As a reminder, these videos are for educational purposes only. Please refer to my comment in this video at 03:16. But you do you… 👍🏼
I lowered blood pressure by adding potassium and magnesium and eliminating carbs and sugar . Keto like diet helped me so much.
Good to hear! Yes eliminating carbohydrates is also helpful in losing weight and for patients with diabetes.
I been doing the dash diet for 12 days and I have lost 11 pounds! I couldn’t be happier ❤
That’s amazing! Thank you for sharing. 😊

Carrots have a lot of sugar.
When I click on description the page is totally blank. Can anyone tell me why? Is it a RUclips setting?
No to veggie oil or margarine .but i use olive oil
Avocado oil is good too

Not when the kidneys disease is involved. I'm scared to death not knowing what will heal my kidneys. I have CKD3.
I fasted for a while and I lost muscle :( it's not for me.

Hello. Can you please tell me where I can find a dermatologist that will treat chalazions with IPL?
Thanks
I can still drink coffee for breakfast despite the caffeine?? 😮
Yes! Just one coffee in the morning is not bad.

What about Yogurt?
Fat and sugar free is good. Plain 0% fat one
The oils and fats mentioned are not healthy options, should use coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil.
It's true! the canola & vegetable oil are not healthy..
Coconut oil had a lot of saturated fat.

This seems so restrictive and hard to follow. Why such low protein and high carbs?
It’s a general guidance from a specific diet plan. You should follow what is right for you.

Whole weat bread is highly processed and bad for your health. The Dash diet fails in this area.
Dash diet doesn't lower blood pressure.
You are wrong
It lowered mine!

Lol so many people have lowered there's with this diet though.
Keto is better.
No diet is better than another per se. It depends on your goals. For lowering blood pressure the DASH diet is better.
