  • In this video, I go over the installation of new fuel injectors on my Jeep WJ 4.0L inline-six. Here are the parts I used:
    Chrysler Combustion Cleaner: amzn.to/3wuEeZN
    Fuel Line Disconnect Tool: amzn.to/2PHTulj
    Fuel Injectors: Search eBay for "OEM Bosch Fuel Injectors Set (6) 0280155784 Upgrade for Jeep 1999-2004 4.0L I6"

    This is just the video I was looking for. I just recently had my 04 grand cherokee with code p0300 for multiple misfires. I'm checking the resistance on the injectors amd was thinking on just replacing all the injectors instead. This is the perfect video on what I'm going to do. Thank you .

    I just changed mine. The old ones were the original 23 years old. Had the Chrysler star logo on them. I was coding P0203. Misfiring open circuit #3 cylinder. So far so good. I also put on a Heat shield on the intake, fuel rail and injectors.

    Just want to point out one thing---the silver round valve thing toward the middle of the fuel rail is actually some kind of pulse dampener that keeps the flow of fuel through the rail more consistent (this according to the repair manual I have). I like your presentation of the steps---thanks!

      Is it necessary to have? My new fuel rail came without one and I’m not sure if it’ll work

    ..... Wow.... I discovered your posting today... when after being told by a buddy he could smell gas around my Comanche ... For the longest time, I couldn't see where the leak or smell was coming from... then, today, I noticed the second injector in from the radiator seems to be a bit 'wet' at the top end, and the rail seems to have a 'witness mark' of fuel spray ...
    ... I believe I found the source of the smell ! ... And, your clip helped relieve a bit of anxiety about doing the repairs needed... I suppose I might as well do the whole set of injectors, while I'm there ... And due to the advice I found ... not fixing it now, can cause worse damage... yikes... And I sure want to see my '88 Comanche 4.0 / 4X4 / 5spd / longbed lasting a long time ..... Regards .....

    I've been working on a 2002 that's been laid up for a few years, the fuel rail does have a Schrader valve. Unfortunately the tube where the quick disconnect attaches to rusted completely tbrough, the aftermarket replacement rail does not have a test port.
    If its an important feature to have you may want to look in yards away from the saltbelt.

      Very true. The Jeep died a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, it is no more.

    im having the same issues with mine... 2004 GC... just like yours... smelling of gas fumes...rough idle, dies some times... changed the plugs, coil pack ... still idles rough, RPMs go crazy and so does the speedometer, and dies every now and then.... but no check engine light on... was told since no check engine lite on they cat run the codes... was thinking its also the injectors.... or the fuel filter or pump.... i love my jeep and wanna keep it running... ITS PAID FOR... LOL...so i guess i will try the new injectors, and if that don't work, fuel filter... sure wish i had u to work on it... lol...any comments would be helpful.... thanks...

      Could be IAC valve
      Clean it, and if it looks rusty, replace it.
      If the same problem continues, replace MAP pressure sensor

  • @jat-justamaturetech-philpj8285

    Hi. I have a 2000 wj 4.0 I just replaced my fuel injectors with a 4 hole from a one hole, now im getting a code po172 and po175 bank 1 and 2 oxygen sensors, system too rich.
    Would this be normal for the ECM to reset for the new injectors after driving a bit, or is my fuel pressure regulator not adjusting to the new injectors? I replaced my fuel filter 2 years ago. Not sure if its a regulator fuel filter type?? Isn't my regulator on the middle of the fuel rail?? Thanks.

      Maybe a touch better. The engine runs more smoothly.

    • @immelting9834

      I've done this upgrade last year and documented my experience to the decimal point. I've gained 1.8 mpg . And my rpms at idle dropped 240 making it run noticably smoother. Context : I literally have driven the same road , same miles every trip and used the same gas station for every fill up since last December. The jeep has been used exclusively for work and back home then parked until the next trip to work.

    I just replaced mine and now I have rough idle and it will die after 5 minutes . I'm clueless as to what's happening and I'm about to swap back my originals.

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  2 года назад +2

      It could be a fuel pump (or filter). Mine needed all of it. It looks like, after the fact, that the injectors were ok, but they were still cracked.

      @@GeneralTalkWithBen So last night I replaced them , then I just went out there today and took everything back apart . Turns out , the last injector was upside down. Hahaha. I guess that's what happens when you try to get stuff done knowing your tired from a long day. Thanks for your reply tho. 👍🏽

    Hey Ben where did you spray the cleaner at before you replaced the injectors?

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  2 года назад

      Chrysler makes a cleaner, and there’s also a couple of other aftermarket versions. They all get sprayed in the intake while the engine is running. I think I added a link the video description (IIRC).

    Could they result in a misfire or cause the jeep to die?

    • @GeneralTalkWithBen
      @GeneralTalkWithBen  2 года назад

      I doubt it. It’s more likely a fuel pump. One injector not working would cause rough idle.

      I didn’t have any problems with them, but I also needed to do the fuel pump. I think that was the real culprit.
