I have Australian 2002 Ford Fairlane Ghia V8 (similar to Crown Vic in USA).
Starts ok but has rough idle (shakes) and uses excessive fuel.
Have replaced plugs, coils, fuel pump and inline filters so far. Also have added injector cleaner into tank and run 98 octane fuel in it.
Still have hesitation on acceleration and bad economy problem.
    No CEL showing.
Do you think I should replace the injectors?
    Have 268,000kms on odometer.

When carrying out cleaning, it is essential to plug the various pipes in the circuit (of fuel injector) I don’t know what these pipes are and what they are used for. Can you help explain this. Thank you so much.

I believe the o rings on mine are going bad, 13 Rogue with 296k. On occasion it will sputter and jerk and then I can smell a light fuel smell. My fuel economy will drop until I pull over and let idle briefly. It only happens at 70 mph when the pressure is higher on the seals I think. Ideas?

Honestly sounds like unburned fuel due to spark plugs not igniting. Have you replaced the spark plugs lately? I would try and replace the spark plugs, with 296K miles I am positive they need to be replaced if they have not been replaced in the last 80-100K miles. It is also a cheaper fix too. You might also consider pouring 1 can of SeaFoam in the gas tank to clean things up. Hope this helps, good luck!

@@fixit3879 yes, I have replaced the plugs with oe plugs probably within 75k, but I will check them. I already bought the injectors so I will replace them anyhow. I get codes p0137, p0138, p0139 and p0171 in random orders. Thank you for the reply and suggestion.

Does it matter in what order these fuel injectors are placed ? because I have miss-placed mine, should I put them back as they were ? I don't notice any change,I have Toyota Prius 2019,I was checking them,so I've got 3 of them with plastic on the end and the last one had none.It is straight gasoline injection. So except the plastic on the end of them, they look like new. Although I already have 100 k miles. No smell of gasoline, nothing leaking. No miss shots,No delays,it drives as it was before swap.

Fuel Injectors on modern cars are computer program regulated and they are precisely timed. So, yes, it usually matters that they are in order. Hope that helps.

All these issues could also be because of faulty ignition coils.

OK could be to much fuel or coolant, if it's fuel need to check o2 sensors maybe bad and dumping fuel because reading clean air,if it's coolant means you most likely have a Crack or a leak of some sort in the engine

How do you know it’s not a bad fuel pump?

    • @fixit3879
      @fixit3879  5 дней назад +1

You can check for it. To check if your fuel pump is bad, you would listen for a faint whirring sound when you turn the key to the "ON" position; if you don’t hear it, the pump might be faulty. You can also perform a fuel pressure test using a gauge to see if the pump is providing adequate pressure-low pressure suggests a failing pump. Check the fuel pump fuse and relay to ensure they’re working properly, as an electrical issue can mimic pump failure. If the engine struggles to start, stalls, or lacks power during acceleration, these could be signs of a bad fuel pump. Additionally, a quick pressure drop after turning off the engine could indicate an issue with the pump or fuel system. If these tests point to the pump, then then you will have to replace the fuel pump. Hope this helps. Good Luck!

My car does this (please check this video watch?v=uau_BZKJ_e8) everytime I cold start it. I have asked many mechanics without having managed to fix issue. Could that be due to bad/clogged fuel injector (assuming that fuel pump and high pressure fuel pump are ok)? Or maybe something else?

    • @fixit3879

I would try pouring in 1 can of SEAFOAM in the gas tank and changing the fuel filter. That might help with this. Good luck.

90% of fuel "treatments" are either kerosene or diesel.. I've been using diesel as a fuel cleaner in a gas vehicle (carb or injected crap) for over 50 years without any type of problem.
