    I’ve 2 of the Gen 3s. I gave one to my son for work. These are great budget knives. S90v, phosphor bronze and G10 for £50... what’s not to like! On the down side, they’re not pretty and the clip’s a bit feeble. I like the strong spring, though they do soften with wear.

  • @Horusfour
    @Horusfour 5 лет назад +1

    Thanks for another great review. Might have to pick one up having seen how sturdy the spring is (I'm definitely in the 'likem stiff' camp). If they release one in wood scales I'd defo get one. Did you find that your gen 2's edge got dinged on the back spacer?
    As others have said, it's great that you're raising the profile of sensible legal UK knife ownership and discussion. ATB

      My gen 2 did unfortunately very lightly suffer from the "ding" issue sadly, I think it's mostly due to the spring strength, If you're gentle when closing it you could easily avoid it but a single snap closed and you'll be resharpening that S90v, If you can find a Gen 3, I'd definitely go for that and thank you for the kind words of encouragement, I hope we can somewhat show that most of us have no ill intent whatsoever when using tools such as these legitimately.

    Had one for a couple months and considering getting another to mod for one hand opening, any chance of some details of what you did to mod yours internally at all? Cheers for the videos bud, good content.

    • @UKLegalCarryKnives
      @UKLegalCarryKnives  5 лет назад

      Thank you Steven, much appreciated! For the mod, I just took a dremel and using the drum sander just kept sanding the pivot-tang part of the blade down until it looked more circular than squared, then rebuilt the knife and tested and took apart again repeating until it operated smoothly, I also sanded a little of the backspring, but in retrospect, I would avoid this and simply sand the tang part of the blade. All in all took about an hour. Good luck!

    Do you still carry these? I'm a big fan of the Luna and UKPK but I'm attracted to the nice steel and G10. Deciding whether to get one. I'm tending to prefer lighter knives and this looks a little heavy? Edit - Just seen they are £70 now!

    • @UKLegalCarryKnives
      @UKLegalCarryKnives  3 года назад

      I'd say that's still a fair price for the durability and steel, that said, it's fairly basic handle and overall shape keeps it on my shelf in favour of more premium stuff.

      If you didn't pull the trigger yet the best prices you can get these for are from Moonraker knives. The plain black or green (not toxic) S90vs are £52, 14C28N is £40 and 12C27 £37. All a bargain, I ordered the S90V today. Definitely better than comparatively priced Real Steel or CRKT knives which I think are made in China.

      @@simonh6371 Thanks for the heads-up. I am tempted but I've kind of spent up this month with some expensive Titanium scales for the UKPK and the Hoo V1 flipper coming soon. I'll keep an eye on it though

      @@randomreviewz2628 No worries mate I don't think they'll run out of stock soon as a wide variety of Manly Wasps have been on their site for ages.

      @@randomreviewz2628 My Wasp just arrived and it's absolutely brilliant as I'd expected, fit and finish perfect and it shaves arm hairs lol. Not only that but they have clearly listened to feedback from the UK (primarily) and instead of ''Manly'' printed on the pocket clip, there is just their symbol. Finally the price at Moonraker (£52, free delivery) is just amazing, not only considerably cheaper than HH but actually cheaper than from Manly's Bulgarian language site where it's 127 Bulgarian Lev, which converts to £55! Anyway hope you enjoy your other purchases this month, cheers atb.

    Got one with black handles. I really like it, but I have bigger than average hands, so it feels almost toy-like in handling.
    I've considered getting the larger Comrade and trimming the legally required millimetres off the base of the blade, but it would probably ruin the looks and still be something of an attention magnet if any law enforcement types were to see it.
    Anyway, another great vid, keep it up! We need decent UK legal knife videos to emphasise the fact that's there's lots of us enthusiasts who are non-criminal folk who wouldn't dream of using a bladed item for nefarious purposes.

      i finally pulled the trigger on one of these yesterday after eyeing one up for a few months... went with the heinnie red as its about a fiver cheaper and i can dye the scales if i decide i dont like the red... can you do a video of what you ground away to get rid of the clank clank clank on your digicam one? i already have the thumb stud mod ready and waiting for my knife to arrive as i also want oho but im not too fussed about the stops if i am able to open it one handed relatively easily... i would want to keep the final retention as stiff as possible though as i have had a knife close on me before and its not fun... fyi it was a gerber paraframe that closed on me... frame lock... but lock up is shit and is easily disengaged in normal use...
      thanks for this video, it basically reiterates other videos on gen 2 onwards but nobody else had done any modifications and so, i am interested in what you did

      @@TheDaddy187 I'll get about to that for you and Steven Wallis, It's not pretty, but hey, it works! Keep an eye out over the next week, might mod the red one to do a proper video on it.

    I got this one! (the S90V Digicam Gen 3 one). Great knife, haven't used it quite as much I expected (yet!), but a perfect example of the stupidity of UK knife law - totally legal and a serious beast, whereas my 'picnic' Opinel No 6 with its primitive locking ring is a problem!
    Agree all those 'stops' are plain weird, but they're not actually a problem. I just had to remove the (perfectly good) clip, because there's no way I can have something called 'Manly' on show, sorry - it might as well say Big Dick.
    I've since found out that Manly is actually the closest English translation of the owner's family name, so I suppose it's excusable, but I'm still not wearing it.
    This is the knife I carry when I need something capable of serious work, but at a venue where it's imperative that I have something strictly UK-legal. I still think it's the best you can buy in that category. Modern Sodbuster on steroids.
