Loved the review brother.. I picked up the Wasp after our conversation. Great knife that performs way above its price point. And the customer service... Its basically the gold standard now.
Would like to watch more videos on Manly Knives for sure! These are some of the best performing knives you can buy, but they are very hard. Listening to a livestream from OCD4EDC is how I found out about them and thankfully decided to try them. Now I own the Wasp and just bought the Peak and the Comrade. Now I just wish you could buy them from more knife retailers!
Thanks for the reviews. I have a S90V Wasp, and I agree it's good knife,. Your red and black scales definitely look nicer than the solid black scales that I have. I am tempted to get a Peak after watching this video.
Great review I just ordered me a peek and decided to come watch some reviews and was happy to see you cover the wasp and the Patriot as well. pretty excited to receive this endura killer!
The big Drugar is the one that caught my eye. I'd probably spend a bit more for the CPM-154 version, at least for me that's the _perfect_ idiot proof outdoors blade steel. The sheath on the Patriot looks spot-on, as does the knife. I love their blade designs, and if you say it's sharp, it's sharp! The Wasp in S90V is a no-brainer at it's _regular_ price. I'm very pleased to hear the customer service is so responsive. Great review, have a fantastic weekend!
slidetek id really love to see a frame lock version of the Wasp because I really like the blade profile on it I would buy multiple of them in different steels lol well Tony i hope you have a great weekend talk to you later
Stassa, thanks to this video I bought the slip joint version. I love the look and had to buy. By the way I really like your videos. You don't BS' around and you tell it to your point of view. Keep it going.
I would like to see disassembly video of the Peak model. To provide you with some additional history; about four or five years ago Boker was the distributor for Manly knives in the U.S. and they imported one model which is the Comrade. This is a larger version of the Wasp with a 31/2 D2 blade and sculptured G10 in several colors. They sold for 52.00 but sales were not that great and Boker dropped the line. The Comrade is still made but you need to order the knife from Bulgaria. I have the Comrade Patriot and the Peak which I use for most of my food prep. The fit and finish is excellent and in my opinion they are one of the best buys on the market. All my knives are D2. THANK YOU FOR A EXCELLENT REVIEW.
barry levitt yeah I owned one of the bokers a while back it was a pretty nice knife I loved the blade profile. If I get a chance I’ll do a disassembly 👍
I bought a Wasp about 2weeks ago, fantastic little UK legal slipjoint in S90V steel for £55. I'm going to buy the Patriot fixed blade in D2 with the wood scales, i think it's guyacan wood. Good review, I'm glad i found your channel. PS. They have a folding version of the Patriot fixed, it's called the Patriot folder, who'd have thunk? LoL
Great value knives! Thanks for the look. Reminds me of the Shiro approach: decent bladestock but thin behind the edge. Bulgaria has liberal knife laws from what I’ve read.
Great review. I really like the Peak I think it was with the back lock. I noticed on both the folders when closed you have the end of the blade sticking straight up. To me that gives the knife an unfinished look. It may be why there are stops in the knives. Does that catch on the pocket and or is it rough on the hand when pulling it from pocket or if you reach into your pocket for something? Like the steels and the grind. I am glad to hear they have such great customer service.
Just got a Wasp yesterday - can't believe how good it is! The only thing I don't care for is the manufacturer's name - Manly - I mean, really; they might as well have called it Big Dick...(possibly doesn't translate well from the Bulgarian, which might not sound as silly). The knife, though, is a revelation. That S90V steel is truly awesome (and comes from the USA only to have you ship it back again!) and that flat grind is to die for. Looks pretty in subdued desert camo too.
I understand the appeal of a slipjoint but I wish they would also release a back-lock or liner-lock version of the wasp just for those who care for it. The peak 2 is awfully big to be carrying to most office (or city based) jobs in general, but having one-handed opening and the confidence that comes with a lock is pretty desirable.
Hey Nick did you redo the sharpening choil or is that another improvement with the newer generations? (If you have a stop pin it's the newest model)... Thanks! -Mike
Stassa23 I’m signed up for email alert. I’ll def get one with back lock might just have to be D2. I’d prefer the s90v but money wise I might have to go cheaper route
I’ve 2 Wasps. They are not the most jazzy knife you’ll ever own, but if you want a universally legal pocket cutting tool for a bargain price, you can’t beat it. You’re spot on about the clip blanking plate! Ugly! See mine on my page if you’re interested, plus there’s a comparison with the SOG Terminus slipjoint.
Slick Slicers they are definitely a no frills type of knife that’s geared towards Performance and they do a great job with that. I plan on getting one of there models in 12c27 because they maximize the heat treat on that steel so it should cut for days 👍
Have you seen Super Steel Steve’s review of the 12c Wasp? He really rates it, and on the Manly website the 12c27 is €35, when the C90v is €60. I don’t know how that translates in the US, but that’s around £40 or $45 on a straight converted price, ignoring duty etc, but their postage is only €5 worldwide!
wedo4444 I am posting a testing video this weekend on the Quiet Carry IQ in Elmax and that knife completely blew me away. Let me know what you think about that video and if enough people actually watch it I’ll definitely do more like it. The only reason I don’t show them as much is mainly because they don’t usually get many views but if that changes I don’t mind doing the extra work editing them 👌👊👊
wedo4444 same here that’s my favorite aspect of a knife that along with a good heat treat 👌that’s what really drew me to these manly knives they are ground really thin and they use good steel with a good heat treat and the Rockwell them in the sixties for performance 👌
This knife is garbage! I bought orange g10 d2 peak. What a disaster! The knife is poorly built, the quality is very low. I disassembled the damn thing to try to clean it, polish some parts and fit it better.. Mission Impossible!!! The nester liners are from some kind of cheese.. they bend so easy.. the interior of the knife so dirty, the washers were black with something like baked dirt and old oil.. it was abrasive and the knife didn’t fold and open well. After cleaning and reassembly the knife was just just cleaner, the same piece of junk... It opens hard with one hand, poorly designed (copied) system. The spidyhole is so rough that it actually hurts your thumbs... i need to say, i like the design on pictures, surprisingly the G10 handles are very well made and i can’t explain how everything other on this crap is poorly made?!!?!!!
Sir Tomaz wow thanks for the feedback mine is definitely not like that. I’ve taken it apart 3 times mainly to clean it but mine is just as good as any other knife I own in this price category but I’m glad you let me know about yours so I won’t recommend it 👌
I only have one Wasp to judge by, but the quality control is absolutely deplorable. Fit and finish is awful, the scales do not fit the metal, high in some places, low in others, and the spring is absolutely too strong. I have thick thumb nails and it literally popped the nail up side down (painful) trying to open it with the nail nick. Even with a pinch grip, its much too hard to be useful. Frankly, I don't care if they are US made, their QC is subpar when Ganzo and Sanrenmu's fit and finish leaves them in the dirt.
That was a good, thorough review. The added safety stops, bold heat treat and top notch customer support really grabbed my attention. Kudos to Manly!
love the look of Manly knives. Clean and simple. Appear really well made. Also love the two-tone scales. Nice review.

Thanks for the reviews. I have a S90V Wasp, and I agree it's good knife,. Your red and black scales definitely look nicer than the solid black scales that I have. I am tempted to get a Peak after watching this video.
Outstanding review Stassa! Please keep the Manly videos coming. Sounds like a great company that is offering excellent value to the customer

For anyone interested the 1.xxxx numbering system is german, meaning any knife engraved with it has probably got german steel.
A guy with hands like that must have interesting stories to tell.

Wow! Good shit! Thx for sharing
The 1.2379 is just the European name for D2 steel (DIN standards)
German as far as I know.
@@beadsman13 i think the DIN standard is german yeah, but that's the one that's mainly used in Europe in general
Great Review of some REALLY Good looking knives 💚
Nick a whole lotta eh's today?
I like the Wasp; it’s a subtle looker.
What is your pocket caddy you slid the wasp into. Looking for something like that myself

hola , yo tengo el manly patriot , y es una buena maquina de cortar , saludos.
I want one bad. The Peak looks good. Just heard they have a green/black g10 coming out next
Matt Baker that would be a cool combo 👍

Europe has that naming convention for their steels. 1.2379 is the same as D2. That's also why you see German Krupp Steel denoted as 1.4116.
Phil Sinex i figures that thanks for the info 👌

Diggin the wasp
Doesn’t LTW have a patriot similar size? They look nice

U can tell each knife has been handworked and for performance
