  • Finally got around to getting the full kit fitted to the 310 GS. It's the Stage 2 kit from Rally Raid. Link below:

    I love the little 310GS it's the only bike I own now and its perfect for some light green lanes and great on the road. At an affordable price cheaper than most modern electric mountain bikes!. I have previously owned a KTM EXC 125, Kawasaki KDX 220, Honda XR400, Husky 410, Yamaha TDM 850, Triumph Tiger 900, & BMW 1200GS to name but a few so I fully understand what it will & won't do but I feel most reviews are a bit on the harsh side but buying motorcycles seems a bit like an arms race these days.

      Yeah I was a bit hard on the 310 myself. Bearing the BMW badge brings high expectations. But once you adjust to what it is and what it's not you realise it's actually a really decent machine. Change the suspension and I think they're great.

    I have a 23 G310GS, Just put the level 2 kit Raid kit on the bike. Added the Scorpion exhaust and has a much deeper tone with less weight. Game Changer, if you’re on the fence, just do it!

    I did sell mine and got a svartpilen instead but that was purely down to wanting more power for the roads as I found myself seldom off road. However the bike is so comfy, fun and easy to ride. Kinda wish I kept it and saved up for the raid kit

    Great setup. It’s a great little bike. People that buy a 313cc bike and complain about it being underpowered makes me slap my forehead. It is what it is and it’s pretty good at what it is. Great video.

      Thanks Mike. Yes I think in it also being a bike that needs a fair old amount of revs to perform it can feel a bit flat if you try and ride it like a bigger bike. It needs it's neck wringing, which is all part of the fun!

    Lovely bike , keep looking around for one , right time right price ,(only in Dorset if you need to move it on lol. 1st saw them doing Moroccan tours with 650,850,1250's

    Brilliant video Nathan :) I think the 310gs is a really interesting bike love the looks an the weight sounds great on it. Stuff like this always reminds me of a rd350lc an can't go wrong with that mix :)

    Glad you got your microphone setup sorted, much easier to hear you now. Are you going to get a Cfmoto 450? We're all interested to see what you think of that.

    Looks a bit of a knarly one. Just thinking about the cost of the Rally Raid kit, it’s almost the price of a Voge 300, especially if the kit has to be fitted by someone else.

      Totally. The voge makes the better financial sense. The 310 will be better for the road.

      Ha. Yes it's a bizarre system in England, completely random as to what's legal to ride and what's not. Miles of easy gravel track are illegal, whilst river beds like in the video are still classified as being accessible to all motorised vehicles. It's why it's hard to know where to ride for your ability level.

    I love this bike in concept. Do i wish it was a gs410.....yeah. but i dont want any more weight and so the price seems (even after mods) good to me.

      Yes I know what you mean. Just a bit more midrange and it'd be a really strong bike. Maybe that's what they in mind with the next one

    Hi Nathan another great video just wanted to say that why don’t you put a rally raid level one suspension onto the crf300 rally I have it on mine and it transforms the bike especially the rear shock.

      Cost and curiosity really. Suspensions not cheap and I have ridden one with the rally raid kit on and it is very good. But the bike doesn't get enough use to justify

      Hi does it not get enough use because you like the BMW 310 more? I am surprised that you spent the money on the 310 instead of a different bike. I guess that leads to the question out of all the bikes which would you keep/ buy if you could only have one bike regardless of price. Because you have so many bikes to choose from.

    Nathan do you have any interest in the new Beta Alp 4.0 or the Alp X 4.0? I'm not sure if they're available yet but they interest me and seem to have been much overlooked in the new Bike releases.

      Yes I wouldn't mind trying one. I hear good things. I guess from a buying decision point of view they're probably a bit too left field to justify for the money, but probably nothing else like it on the market

    New 450 Himalayan or used BMW GS310 Euro 5 or higher with rally raid kit? Major question this is. Thoughts? Have you tested new himalayan in theae trails?

      There is an Indian youtube channel that has just done a mega-test with all the lightweight bikes. As always it comes down to "best for who?". Not everyone wants the same road/off-road abilities.

      Haven't ridden the Himalayan yet (maybe a little bit) but not in these conditions. Stock Himalayan off road is still probably better than the 310 with suspension. Bigger wheel. Better engine for it. Comes down to personalities of the bike really and which you like the look/feel of most
      I do like this gs. I prefer it to the look of the new Himalayan even tho it might not be as versatile or punchy.

      Got a video on that to upload tomorrow. Boots are gaerne all terrain gore. Trials boots really. Quite soft and waterproof for about two years and then start to leak. But on my second pair and will probably go for a third

      @nathanthepostman too much of a hype on the 450...took a test ride from a dealer here, and it seems more like a KTM than the tractor that himmie 411 was famous for!

    Hello. Does the suspension feels as soft as stock suspension?

      Yes it's definitely stiffer than stock. Also 20mm more ground clearance and fully adjustable. It will make the bike handle better, on and off road.

    BMW is a complete loss.. they tried and never committed with the 650 Rotax.. and now they have a good @300cc bike..w zero effort it could be a 400 and they could make a dual sport..21in front wheel.. and good suspension.. not a bunch of features just light weight, and motocross looking and people will buy it .
    Sort of bizarre that Germans, Austrians, Japanese all afraid to build a light weight,@500 twin. And if you look at CFMoto 450 Ibex, if it were a quality manufacturer and lighter, @$1000 more in price would not be able to keep them in stock.. Honda has the frame..why not a 500 twin in the CRF? What are they waiting for?

      Totally agree. There was so much potential left in the bike for rally raid to exploit, it should have been like that from the factory, at least as an option. An increase to 400cc would round it off nicely
