In Deadspace you're an engineer, and I don't think any of the other engineers survived the first wave so it makes sense that you get sent to fix things. I love Deadspace because I have a massive soft spot for engineer, mechanic, inventor, and hacker type characters. I have a lot of fond memories of Fester's Quest because it was one of the first NES games I played. When my parent's got me an NES for Christmas it came with Mario and Duck Hunt plus they got me a Sesame Street edutainment minigame collection but dad's oldest friend got mom and dad Jeopardy and Fester's Quest.
Try playing the deathmatch in Quake and you'll get a Quake Live-ish vibe (there are now bots for death match if you can't find server to olay on). PS: Quake's style is Quake.
Just found your podcast series. I want to just say I really enjoy it. It’s perfect in length and you have good back and forth conversations and references.
I feel like Doom 3 is the perfect Halloween game because that game will still make me jump at night with the light low and headphones. Such a good game...
You guys have great chemistry! Haven’t missed an episode yet, keep up the good work Mike and Ryan! Always been intrigued by Clock Tower for SNES. My friend had a copy when I was a kid, never got a chance to play it though.
Half-Life gets just as much praise from what I've seen and has a nearly equally large mod scene. Albeit HL mods have slowed down over the years while Doom's scene continues to grow. @@sothatsdevintart2562 Does Black Mesa not count?
HL1, one of if not the single most circle jerked games of all time doesn't get enough love? You being serious? It's Doom and especially Quake that need this type of attention.
Doom 1 make the opening level a horseshoe that loops back on itself, quake 1 make all the levels interconnected and circular for death match play even though it has a single player campaign.
I know Mike well enough (through vids, of course) to be sure that Mike said "Fucking hell, fuck this shit" after that little closing "be sure to like and subscribe". I love you, dude, stay real, haha :D
Nightmare in the Dark (Neo-Geo) is a super fun Horror/Halloween style game. Monster themed Bubble Bobble with really cool, screen filling boss fights and awesome artwork. Short game, but really good. Highly recommend. Also, “When multiplayer games die its sad” @ 58:02 So true.
Yeah I fucking love Dead Space. I'm with you on Layers of Fear it just takes forever to search every generic looking cabinet, I closed the game after an hour. Hearing you guys talk about Quake, I get the feeling Mike could like games like Amid Evil and Dusk. Quake inspired, but made recently. Pretty colorful too.
Great episode! Sea of Thieves is one of my favorite games, and that’s mostly because I have the luxury of playing with friends regularly. Playing it alone can be fun, but it really is not worth the trouble usually with how easily you can get screwed over.
It may be addressed later. But I'm 8 minutes in and I think Ryan is talking about Shadow Man on Dreamcast, not Hollow Man. I'm not trying to be the "actually" guy. Just wanted to interject in case someone was interested to look up the game and play it.
There is a game that kind of reminds me Haunting Starring Polterguy. it's called Ghost Master and it came out I think early 2000's it was a pretty great little puzzle game trying to scare people with ghosts.
about the quake era, i remember at my school there was this special class we had that was advanced computing where we would actually do contracts and all of the school networking etc. That meant we had access to a huge computer room all setup together on a hub. So we played Half Life Lan multiplayer. It was not the same maps and weapons as the online version. It was AWESOME. we would play like... 20 players or so as soon as the teacher left class for whatever reason
really wish i could have that experience again. but servers are empty or modded and none have that version available. i don't even know how to do so unless i would lan with a bunch of ppl which is well... not very 2022
I always enjoy your podcasts guys, keep 'em coming! Btw, did Mike never play Symphony of the Night? If not, he should definitely give it a chance and stream it some day.
I do not remember the issues of original quake you mentioned, but I remember the mod Malice that really increased the level design and already added vehicles .. somehow
i can agree horror films and games isnt once per year, its something to enjoy anytime and anywhere. while its cool to dedicate a whole month to "only" spooky horror games & films, its also a real challenge to experience so many different styles of horror genre every single day
I really only liked Quake 2 for the multiplayer. I played Jailbreak on the old Gamespy servers. I was very young and terrible at the game, but I did enjoy it a lot.
To have room for error, or get ahead in case they can't film at certain times. Also takes time to edit. They also have other things going on so to get a good jump start for them means a lot. They have always done this even on the older Mike and Ryan or the James and Mike Mondays.
Yeah the single player in Quake II was nothing mind blowing, but back in the day when the multiplayer lobbies were full with all kinds of mods to play it was a blast!
Mam their chemistry is so God damn good. Mike can sometimes be smug and annoyingly spoilt and Ryan can be too inside baseball and technical for some people. .together tho, Mike is buoyant and hilarious and Ryan shines with his info and bits that make Milke die laughing. The views better go up. I NEED this to stick around. I'd love a once a month 2hr Star Trek podcast btw hahahaha
Great podcast. You guys actually have topics, a format and tell us about yourselves. Thank god this set is being used to film at least 1 good podcast lol.
Not a horror game, but I found a game called "Assault Suit Leynos". I know Ryan likes Metal Warriors, it plays the same-ish. Thought maybe you guys would like it. Plus I love the podcast.
Quake remaster on PS4 the data became corrupted twice on me. PS5 version says it's only running at 60fps on my LG CX. Also the frame rate is not as smooth a lot of times on ps5 version compared to PS4 version.
ghost master has the same goals as polterguy, but instead of being one universal dude direct controls you have multiple ghosts and it's a strategy also people who imune to superstition you first have to make them believe by gifting them luck or something good first before crushing their dreams
You had 2-6 megs of video memory on a 3D card in 1997. You couldn't fit all the textures. You couldn't fill up rooms with all sorts of objects. Today you have like 11 gigs.
There was a spiritual sequel to Haunting Starring Polterguy called Ghost Master. It's a fully 3D game for PC. It's okay, but doesn't have as much personality as Haunting.

I like Ryan in these, I always thought he was a little out of place in the Cinnemassacre stuff but he's really good when he's allowed to speak more.
Nightdive Studios is currently in the process of making a remaster of Shadowman (what Ryan calls Hollowman on the video)
Makes sense. Thanks for correcting. I will check it out when it comes out. That game freaked me out a bit as a teen. -Ryan
the game is already out! it´s amazing
You two are terrific together. Keep up the great work on the podcast, boys.
Some might say I'm quite a big fan myself !
It's not bad but James and Mike chemistry will never be matched.
Love how you're saying that the Quake colors don't work for you while sitting in a room that looks like it's out of Quake.
Quake takes a lot of designs from H.P Lovecraft
Hollow man? You mean shadow man?
"Quake" is one of those classic games I completely missed way back when. Definitely going to try out the remastered version. Great discussion.
Loved the "new" John Romero levels. I've been somewhat patiently waiting for episode 2 ever since it was announced!!!

Hollowman was a movie that came out in 2000. It was an invisible man movie starring Kevin Bacon. I saw it in the theaters lol
Yeah, there's no such game on the Dreamcast lol. He was totally thinking of Shadow Man.
Try playing the deathmatch in Quake and you'll get a Quake Live-ish vibe (there are now bots for death match if you can't find server to olay on).
PS: Quake's style is Quake.
love these podcasts
Me too. Are they on podcast platforms ? Cool thing to listen while commuting
Thanks!
I love the way they just go off the rails on so many thing and is interesting as hell keep it up is now becoming a favorite of mine 👍
Just found your podcast series. I want to just say I really enjoy it. It’s perfect in length and you have good back and forth conversations and references.
Quake was the first FPS I ever played and I frigging loved it
I feel like Doom 3 is the perfect Halloween game because that game will still make me jump at night with the light low and headphones. Such a good game...
It was indeed a scary game to play at night as a kid. If only the shotgun and hand-grenade were better.
@@DarkstarArchangel I recently revisited Silent Hill 2 earlier. Such a good game but the controls sometimes and camera angles are a bit wonky haha
@@williamcatalano1762 Sh2 controls were supposed to be wonky. You are supposed to struggle and constantly worry about surviving due to controls.

This is the best podcast, and I'm absolutely fine with the multiple star trek detours !
I feel like HL1 doesn't get enough love, it's always about Doom or Quake

@@HardenedMetapod Black Mesa is a remake, not a remaster.
Intro music is absolutely biblical. 80’s/90’s sitcom vibe.
Geist on GameCube is fun and similar to 17:45 Genesis game. I thought it was a neat FPS too,but somewhat generic, but with a very ungeneric gimmick.
That LGR Shout out was amazing. Clint is an amazing youtuber. Love the Podcast guys
"was it like in the wizard of oz?"
"that's exactly what it was."
One of my favorite things of 2021 when these two started their podcast, much respect to Mike and Ryan , All of these have been bangers so far 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Nice, a lot more great games possible to talk about for this podcast, excited!
Love it. Feel like I haven’t seen you two together in forever.
Can't wait for the star trek podcast!
Big Mike and Ryan fan here. Keep up the good work.
within Doom and Wolfenstein we are killing SPRITES while in Quake I, we are killing 3D based mobs which was the first time in an FPS back then in 1996
Excellent theme. Very Golden Girls in a way I appreciate. Great episode! I'm learning everything I know about retro games from y'all
I was hearing the theme to Perfect Strangers, but they're all really similar.
checked this out the other day, good thoughtful stuff from the experts 🖖

Dusk and Amid Evil (along with Ion Fury) are wonderful

Not sure where you were playing Sea of Thieves, but the PC version has had a very healthy playerbase since release.
Also Croc 2 was awesome.
36:15 the Quake II multiplayer community is definitely still around and active.
“Chief O’Brien wouldn’t do this! He’d go fix the conduit!” 🤣

Did you beat Quake on the archive stream you just showed the first boss
i swear to god the dude is singing “yes we talk about games and some satellite stuff like Star Trek it’s a blast our gaming podcast”
And sometimes other stuff! Otherwise pretty good.
I thought it was “stuff like Star Trek, it’s a mess, our gaming podcast”!
@@ryanschott i can sleep now… but after i watch this lol
When was the last time you guys played Sea of Thieves?? It's bigger than ever now.
Also why does no one ever talk about Aero the Acrobat for Super NES? I loved that game as a kid.
I hope this series lasts a long time.
what are the lyrics to the theme song?
Found them! ruclips.net/video/M1qI_DPgjhw/видео.html

Question for Ryan: did you try Black Mesa: Blue Shift mod? (3 chapters out atm)
FYI you can play Sigil with Brutal Doom.
a game mike will like is Blake Stone, it is on the Wolfenstein 3D engine but has monsters in it
Great show

I can't find any info on Hollowman. Oh Fucking duh, Ryan It's Shadowman not Hollowman. lol It was on Dreamcast and PC, it recently got remastered.
I've seen Sigil on RUclips but I've never actually played it myself. Yeah it looked pretty cool

Did these two completely divorce Cinemassacre? I'm glad they have each other because I fucking love me some Mike and Ryan.
Good stuff. Keep it up!!
Did ryan mean shadowman ?
18:15 Okay Todd
Quake is a great game. It was also the earliest game in fps that’s the rocket jump
The quake rocket launcher is iconic and they shit all over it.
Are they in the same room as the cinemassacure podcast
I built the set for all of the podcasts. It is in our office. Cinemassacre films here.

pants are a social construct
glad there is a closer now hehe

Looks like Mike took what Ryan had
We deserve a Quake reboot.
with lootboxes and microtransactions?
oh wait we just had one
