You have to press the Y button twice.
The ASCII Grip is my favorite peripheral. It's great because you can relax when playing an RPG. You don't have to be in the lean-forward gamer position. You can lean back, put one hand behind your head, eat Cheeto's, put one arm around your honey. It just gives you some freedom so that you don't have to have both hands occupied.
Also would be good for some disabilities.
"....your playstation is upside down, because it's overheating, because it's a pile of shit" holy fuck I nearly spat my drink out when Ryan said that line. As someone who's first console that was bought with their own money (mom got me the NES/SNES before that) with shitty high school jobs, damn if that line didn't hit me in the soul. I had my PS1 on its side for a good while before it eventually completely stopped reading discs due to the laser lens warping.
Love the podcast guys, hope you continue to keep it up. Btw big props to the jingle that plays before each episode, that shit sticks in the brain like glue so you know you did something right with making it.

Even as a kid, I wasn't able to beat the good ending from Clock Tower. It took many many many tries to beat it. But I still love it, its like a cheesy scary movie that I'm nostalgic for. I beat the game last week, I even drew Jennifer too last week coincidentally. XD
Towards the end when Ryan was getting upset was priceless. Lol 😆

i recently played the Japenese Splatterhouse and it was fun. im dying to play the Clock Tower franchise. only got to play a bit of 3, as a Teen and never finished cause i was too scared at the time😂😂

I LOVE Clocktower (one of only two PS1 games I've kept) and I can completely see where Ryan is coming from.

I have both the PS1 Clock Tower games that I bought and played through when they were new but I haven't played them since. They were scary at the time but I doubt they have aged well for anyone who doesn't have nostalgia.
40:26, this is amazing. 100% my experience, console upside down and all, lol. I rented it though and printed a FAQ. Point and click games are obtuse as shit. Funny enough, I put this on my PSP the other week, been meaning to play it.

i would like if you guys talk about obscure games more, like clock tower is pretty obscure since only a small amount of people are into it but even a non fan like me enjoying hearing what you guys had to say about it. i hope ryan enjoys 3 because i vaguely remember watching my uncle play clock tower 3 all the way through and i thought it was okay but i think its better than the first game since its not a point and click.
The concept behind the one handed RPG controller is that it frees up your other hand to take notes with.

Scissor Man seems to originate from Dario Argento's Phenomena ...it's not 1:1, but there's a number of similarities.

The mention of an Alien game like Clock Tower: that's pretty much how I saw Alien Isolation.
Oh man, Clock Tower 3 is absolutely ridiculous. Definitely way different from the SNES and PSX games, but I think Ryan will still hate it. LOL.
Super late on this one too, Ryan was point on Clock Tower. Its a frustratingly good time and its a real good game to stream. Clock Tower 2 is really confusing. Clock Tower 3 is a bit more forgiving since Capcom made that one.
I played Splatterhouse arcade twice on my channel. I could only beat it with cheats. I beat Splatterhouse 2 as a kid. It's one of my favs.

Whatever. Clock Tower (PSX) was awesome. Sure, there was some esoteric stuff, but given its clear 90's PC point-and-click adventure set-up, it was par for the course. It's intentionally designed so that you don't figure it out and get the best ending in the first go. That's what the hint system was for, and it's actually a really short game. So, going _all the way back_ to the beginning is really not that long or crazy of a proposition. It was before the days of youtube, so players had to actually _play_ to see all the possible alternate endings and outcomes. And back in the day, it was very suspenseful. It was like an interactive slasher flick. There was nothing like it at the time (except for the original that never got a Western release), and there was a lot of cool gags and kills and whatnot. You also didn't necessarily figure out at first that hiding in the same place twice was going to result in Scissor Man finding you and automatic death.
If it's not your kind of game, it's not your kind of game. But it's certainly not a bad game for what it is. It's been years since I've played it, so I'm not altogether sure how well it holds up now as far as the fluidity of the controls or whatnot. It wasn't a looker graphically, even back then. But if you're a horror game fan, it's worth playing.

one hand controller is so you can map and take notes. By the time ps1 games came out, you had more in-game maps, so they were less popular
I would love to own Splatterhouse 2 on Sega Genesis, which I own I the first game on Turbografx-16 and the third game on Genesis. But I've never played Clock Tower on Sony PlayStation but I only played the original game on SNES reproduction cart.

Yes you can totally run with limited stamina. It totally changes the game when you realize that. And you should totally realize that before you make a review about it. Big ryan fan by the way. 👍
