Aweseome video! When a person uses steam link for their wireless VR with a meta headset, there is a second option underneath the "resolution per eye" that changes the Foveated rendering, which can significantly impact performance on low - mid tier PC's when set above 1000.
It was worth taking the extra time, the improvement in editing technique makes the video much more engaging. Helpful tips, I didn't know some of them. Hopefuly now I will succeed in making No Man Sky actually playable.
Been messing with Skyrim VR with FUS modpack. Did couple of things like, switch to Open Composite, Foveated rendering, but your NVidia settings really drove it home for me to have stable and quite sharp experience, thanks mate.
One thing none of you RUclipsrs has mentioned yet, is if you still launch a game from Steam, or you have to launch it via the OpenVR-FSR app once you've applied settings.
If you used the Global setting then your CPU is always going full blast.

I have been trying to set up pcvr for over half a year rn and was about to give up due to many issues arising over the past 6 months, i just found this video yesterday and tried everything you said along with some of my own tricks up my sleeve and immediatly noticed massive improvement in pcvr on my computer, its not perfect but its good enough for most of my vr games. Im going to keep expirementing to see if i can improve it even more but this video definetly gave me a good start. So yeah, had to show you my gratitude, thank you very much realityrise 👍.
Geez I opened a whole can of worms with this one lol, discovered that my entire Geforce experience was messed up and throwing rundll errors, I had to completely remove it using DDU as it wouldn't let me repair. I did a fresh install and now my system is running very smooth! Thanks for the tips

How do you disable mirroring though? Whenever you run a gun on PCVR it is ALWAYS rendered on your monitor and I feel like it's what is rendered on your headset so I don't think you can turn it off or the game would just not be rendered.
Forgot to mention that of course not all games support this but whenever you can, try to only display it on your headset to save system resources. Who knows there is software out there that'll do this for you.
There aren’t many games that allow that but it’s simply question of changing the mode to windowed and minimalize the game. It’ll still run but wont drain gpu resources. If game doesn’t have display option ingame sometimes alt+enter works. But have in mind that not all games that allow changing fullscreen mode will give you an performance impact when minimalized. It’s fucked up dawg
Not true. Only affects dual ccd cpu. If you have a 5800x3d, 7800x3d or 9800x3d, you can use ultimate performance. If you have a 7950x3d for example, you should use balanced
One issue I had was Virtual Desktop was only giving me 17mbps. Nothing I tried helped. Reformatting windows. Resetting my Asus AX6000 router. Turned out it was Windows fault. It was using my 7700X iGPU instead of my rtx3080. Go into device manager and under display adaptors you can disable the iGPU there. Was driving me craaazy.
you sure this isn't because of automatic bitrate option? Mine does that because Im not connected to ethernet. But if I do manual, I can do about 50mpbs without the judder.

Even when I disabled the igpu in the bios, it never saved the settings. It would always pop up in windows again. Later I updated the Gigabyte bios and now I was able to disable it fully. So it seems it was a glitch with the previous bios.

I have been chasing my tail for a few days trying to improve my FPS using Virtual Desktop in my Q3. I found by running it Quest Game Optimizer I went from 72fps to 115.

Idk what happened but I started having high latency since 4 or 5 days ago. Even in cable mode. I’ll see if this works! Updating drivers didn’t work, neither did a fresh install of windows. Turning down per eye resolution in steam vr works wonders, but it still doesn’t fix the root of the plroblem, only a crutch. My last updates for windows and drivers were before it started lagging, so idk what changed to make it start occurring.
How do you mean PC game settings? The settings you adjust in your game that's directly affecting VR + your SteamVR settings is what directly affects performance. The settings meant for flatscreen gaming won't affect VR indeed.

I have a question about "mirroring". How to avoid mirroring if I am using steam vr/virtual desktop? Game automatically pops up on the desktop, there is no way to hide the window and stream it only on oculus.
I tried downloading the openvr mod app a few weeks ago but it didn’t work for me, I tried watching multiple tutorials and followed them but none of the settings in the mod would actually work. No idea why
For VR low latency must be off and virtual reality pre render frames gotta be 3. Low latency off allows pc to pre render frames to get rid of jitter if on it only allows pc to render 1 frame causing jitter on my pc at least
Been having some trouble trying to get "The Forest" to look good and run good in VR. I have a pretty strong rig but the game still looks pixellated, blurry, and runs horribly fluctuating between 40 and 59 FPS. Any tips? My specs are 7800X3D, 7900XT, 32GB 6000 MT RAM, Quest 3 headset

Very confusing. I find the whole PCVR on Quest really obtuse, so many different option and apps with so many settings in each that seem to be the same thing i.e. Meta desktop app has refresh and resolution settings but so does the steam app and both are running at same time. Also is refresh rate the same as FPS?

It depends if the game let's you actually. What I meant in general was, if you have the option, just display it in your headset instead of both headset + monitor to save resources.

@ problem is developers just say “just get a better computer bro”. Plus it’s so unoptimised that it might even lag on high end hardware. It’s crazy how lazy some can be, and these are AAA people. Most people have low end PCs, therefore they can reduce the game size for them by making the higher res textures, such as 4K optional to download. Even Crisis was optimised for the hardware of the time. If you really take optimisation to the extreme, you can get kkrieger levels of optimisation.
Yo, could you maybe make a interent improvement video sometime? My internet on my pc gets really bad after 10 minutes and I crash in Vr. I'm going to try that Prismxr Puppis S1 since supposedly don't need good internet with it. It's like a wireless link cable basically from my understanding. A direct and dedicated wifi6 connection between pc and headset

Thank you for this. I for the most part have had ok pcvr experiences since I got my gaming laptop. But when I first got on I went to sansar and it ran grest. But now when I go to Sansar it lags. Also I just found Riff but couldn’t really enjoy it because of the lag. I’m going to try these tips because I was just going to buy a more upgraded computer.
Haven't tested it out myself, but you can try. I have read, however, that EAC doesn't like any modification, so worst case is that it just won't start. Test it out and let me know :)

Geforce Experience? Why? For what you need this? Better make a clean Install without all the Telemetry stuff. You can save 5-15% GPU Power demanding on your Setup.
@@reality-rise This takes about 2 minutes, But you can play for hours. The 2 minutes of comfort is exchanged for hours of gaming with unnecessary latency and background programs. Look in the task manager how often Nvidia is there? You can turn all of that off. And who says the latest driver is the best? With Experience you don't even have the choice of which one you want. Sorry isn't a criticism, I just wanted to show that there are other things. You can also set the Fov in the Oculus Traytool to ~0.8x0.8 without noticing the difference when playing games. That's another 25% saving on the GPU.

The tool automatically applies the settings onto the game so you can launch it however you want.
Just changing the Power Settings to "High Performance" in Windows worked for me

For the Quest 3 , Virtuall Desktop worked best for me, looks better, runs better,and just works always. But needs a good wireless Router wirh 5-6GHz

Do not change windows power profile if you have AMD CPU with 3D V-Cache. It will decrease your performance. Keep the balanced power plan.

Yes, but I finally found the answer. Had to add ‘-nowindow’ in startup options in Meta Link app.

Dlss in vr makes picture very blury
You have to tweak the settings to your own liking, DLSS just upscales the image with an AI algorithm from NVidia.

My bad if I left it out, but if you're trying to use it wirelessly, a WIFI6 type connection on the 5G band should do the trick.
With Framegen on in 2D I get 170 FPS.
