Everytime when I try to speak in front of my camera, I feel a little weird..but this time, I tried to come out from my comfort zone to make you feel more connected to me through my video. I bet I will feel more natural if I keep try..right? anyway.. (You encouraged me to try this with your votes. Thanks a lot.) If you want, maybe next time I can add my eating part at the end of the video after I cook the food. ;) Thanks for watching. ^^
It's so nice to see you. It's like I have a nice Korean friend teaching me recipes ^.^ I can't wait to make these for my family. I also think I would like to try making these with a fruit filling or jam, like blueberries or raspberries ^.^
Aeri's Kitchen Happy Lunar New Year to you and family. May you be blessed with good health and fortune year round. Always looking forward to your recipe vidoes. Tq again. ymase
@l portis, Thanks a lot. You will get shocked to see how many times I practiced @,@ This time, I didn't give up lol 😆 Many people says, if we keep practice to talk in-front of camera, we can feel more comfortable, so that's what I'm going to try.. let's see if that's true.. lol
hehe.. thanks a lot.. :) For this video, I tried to use iphone for recording my voice for the first time because I had problem to use my audio system I got before.. and Yes, I also thought the audio quality is better with iphone than the expensive audion system.. 😱 anyway..thanks for your positive feedback..
Wow, really.. there are soooo many great Korean cooking channels on RUclips, so it is great honor for me to get a comment like yours. Thanks a lot. It means a lot. :)
Didn't you have another video where you made this same recipe? I thought you did because I follow it ever winter, cause my husband loves the treat in the winter! It's fabulous and now I have a reason to make it this weekend.
I'm glad to see that my long time viewers remember my old recipes.. I have many old videos that I need to remake because I have background copyright issue and their video quality are poor.. this hottoek was one of them. I made the video private and somebody asked why she can't find the video..that's why I remade it this time. :)
I just have to tell you that I made this recipe for the first time last weekend, and the whole family loved them! My son even helped me make them. They are wonderful and such a comforting food. I did not have any nuts on hand, so I substituted cooking oats instead. Wow, they were really delicious! Now I want to try other filling combinations. So exciting, thank you so much!
@Missyeli, I know the feeling that you feel hungry after watching cooking videos... lol I wonder if you can do self-control to not eat anything or you eat it.. 🤔🙂
Love seeing your beautiful happy face :) 😊 This is one of my favorite desserts and one of the first korean dishes I tried making. Your Hotteok looks perfect 💕 Your description on how it tastes like is spot on!
I wonder how long it takes for you to record your video when you speak in front of camera..(Because you speak well in your videos). It takes lo~~~ng time for me. 😭 At first I thought, it's because of my English skill but .. I found out that .. on top of it (Which I make many English mistakes when I speak), people say.. it's because of the perfectionism ?? The thought inside of me that I should speak without mistakes make me do more mistakes... I'm challenging myself to break it .. let's see if I can do it when I keep try and practice it.
What a great recipe and demonstration! I’ve been really wanting to try these and wasn’t sure if you could make them at home. I’ve just subscribed and look forward to exploring the rest of your channel. Thank you very much!
I'm very excited to meet you, Vicki. Yes, I hope you find many more delicious Korean recipes through my channel. keep leave comments, so we can get to know better each other. :) Thanks
Oh~~~I heard of the program but didn't watch ... maybe I should watch it.. they made hottoek too? I bet foreigners liked it... I read news article that their bibimbap was a big hit.... Thanks
+Aeri's Kitchen the reason why i'm watchig this video is because of youn's kitchen 2. the spanish community in the show so love the dessert. i'll try to cook it too😊. thanks for the recipe
Thank you for all of your recipes. I have tried many of them and they always come out very good. My son loves your HoTteok recipes. He is ten and he loves to help in the kitchen. You are an inspiration to me. I don't think I would have tried to make a lot of Korean food without you. I look forward to trying more of your newer recipes.
I already made this 3 times now, its so good. But instead of waiting for 3 hours, I usually let it rest only 1 hour or so and it still come out pretty good.
Thank you for posting this! I have seen this made on Strong Woman Do Bong Soon! I thought it looked delicious but had no idea what it was called or how to find a recipe for it. Thank you!
Aeri's Kitchen Oh you have to see it! It has now become my #1 favorite K Drama of all time! I have never laughed so hard! I kept replaying parts because they were so funny. I even showed scenes to my 13 year old son and he was laughing so hard! But it's also the sweetest and most romantic show that had me crying! And it's also scary with a serial kidnapper who is completely frightening! Only Koreans could pack so much into one show. I hope you can watch it!
you hotteok recipe is one of the first ones i've tried from your channel. it's great! and i've used that oven proofing trick with other yeast breads too. 👍 this video takes me back to those days :)
Yep I sure know that..hehe Did you try any of my recent recipes ?? Do you remember how much I was happy to see your cooking videos when you tried my recipes... want to see new ones ...pretty plz ~~~ hehe thanks anyway..
haha Angie.... yep.. sounds like that will be delicious too.. some people add cheese filling.. some do with kimchi filling.. lol you can be creative and put whatever you want.. lol
gluten intolerance.. I don't know that well about it..but if rice is okay for it.. (that's what I thought..) I made this gleten free rice and seafood pancake before.. Here is a recipe link .. ruclips.net/video/cp1BgsJYfvU/видео.html I also posted this Korean sweet thing without any flour in it few years ago.. ruclips.net/video/KUjQ_TO8C7I/видео.html :) thanks
Hi Arie. Thank you for this video. I wondered how to make these because I saw on TVN thru the show Yoon's Kitchen season 2 where they served hotteok as a dessert. Now I think I can do it at home. God bless.
So nice to see your lovely face, Aeri! I would love to see you make jjambbong again and what else you eat it with. Do you just eat jjambbong by itself or do you have favorite banchan that you eat with it?
aha.. Jjambbong is another old video that I want to remake... great !! I will add it to my list. For jjambbong, all you need is.. kimchi and danmuji (yellow pickled radish) .. some people like to eat with raw onion dipped in black bean paste (chunjang)
I got it at a Korean grocery store. and this link is "Hotteok Presser from Amazon" amzn.to/2HnyrM3 To be honest with you, I don't want to recommend to buy it from the link because it's over priced to buy it at Amazon, but I add the link to show you, so you can see the details about this hotteok presser. If you have a Korean or Asian grocery store near you, please check it out.
is there a particular reason why you want to use rice flour instead ?? for health ?? in my vegetable hotteok recipe, I mixed sweet rice flour and wheat flour..but didn't try it with 100 % rice flour.. so I'm sorry but I can not tell the result without trying it.. we do have rice hottoek though.. it will be chewier...
Oh, you can not eat yeast and milk? I didn't know about that. I didn't find a way to make this bread without yeast yet... you can replace the milk with water..but you need yeast to rise the dough.. hmm.. I'm sorry... I bet there are ways to make bread without yeast out there.. I will do some research for it too..
You can make rice flour hotteok...but not just replace rice flour for this recipe.. ^^; anyway.. yes there are people who make hotteok with rice flour. :)
You left out the most important part... wait at least 5 minutes before biting into the hot hottek, or the molten sugar inside will send you to the burn unit of your local hospital. No joke.
Each time I make hottek I burn the roof of my mouth and I promise myself I'll know better the next time... then the next time as I'm screaming in pain I promise myself I won't ever do it again... until the next time. The irresistible pull of the hot hottek is like the dark side of the Force. Evil, but oh so tasty.
I made this the other day. It turned out amazing (I didn't use milk). The tip on the oven light I'll try that, my dough didn't rise that well but where I live it's around 38 degrees so maybe your tip will help. You're beautiful, keep making videos!
Yes, you can even turn on the "warm" setting for your oven, make the oven a little warm.. and turn off... then put your dough in it.. it shorten the time than just using oven light..
Yes, you can use water instead of milk~~ I didn't try almond or coconut milk (espeically coconut milk can give strong flavor to it..so I'm not sure about that..) so to be safe.. I will say to use water.. almond milk sounds good though.. hope you like this recipe. :)
Hi aeri could you provide the "gram" of the ingredients you use? Because the different measurement of cup and teaspoon or tablespoon really confusing me xD tq
I'm sorry..but different country using slightly different measurement... so it is not easy for me to convert them... I like to use this site to convert the amount sometimes when people ask question.. so please check it out. www.onlineconversion.com
It sounds tasty and healthy...but since I didn't try it for myself, I can not tell the result.. I'm sorry about that.. You don't want to waste 3 cups of expensive almond flour to try it.. hmm... can you cut the recipe in half or even ⅓..and try it and see if it works ??
If you have a big Korean grocery store, they might have it. Amazon also sells it (amzn.to/2IZIIBv) but I think it's overpriced in my opinion.. I suggest you to use a normal spatula you use for your daily cooking.. that works fine too.. thanks
I'm sorry but I didn't to freeze it before.. I can picture myself to freeze already fried hotteok..and reheat later to eat..but not the dough before fried..
Is it okay not to use yeast but still retain the measurement of each ingredient? Edit: or maybe I could use baking powder as substitute for the yeast??
Oh, I'm sorry that my recipe is in American measurement standard. I like to use this site to convert the weight, volume.. etc.. Please check it it out, it is easy to use. www.onlineconversion.com I'm sorry again for inconvenience.
Brown sugar and white sugar have different flavor and sweetness... you can only use brown sugar... but for me.. it taste better to mix both of them.. because brown sugar seems have it's own little bit bitter and unique flavor ?? if you think brown sugar is sweet enough.. it's fine you can only use brown sugar for your taste. ;)

LoebRules 😊 Thanks
Hi Arie. Thank you for this video. I wondered how to make these because I saw on TVN thru the show Yoon's Kitchen season 2 where they served hotteok as a dessert. Now I think I can do it at home. God bless.
God bless you too. :)
Thank you for remaking this recipe! I had forgotten and made a different one, and it wasn't as good. 🤫🤭

Like a cinnamon roll but much, much better. I will be making these very soon.

So nice to see your lovely face, Aeri! I would love to see you make jjambbong again and what else you eat it with. Do you just eat jjambbong by itself or do you have favorite banchan that you eat with it?

Hi Aeri!! Where did you buy that flattening tool?? 잘 덜먹겠음니다!!!! :)
Aeri's Kitchen I agree!!!!
Can you use rice flour? I use to buy these when I was in Qsan. I really miss the street foods. They were simple but very tasty.
is there a particular reason why you want to use rice flour instead ?? for health ?? in my vegetable hotteok recipe, I mixed sweet rice flour and wheat flour..but didn't try it with 100 % rice flour.. so I'm sorry but I can not tell the result without trying it.. we do have rice hottoek though.. it will be chewier...

Can this be made with rice flour?
You can make rice flour hotteok...but not just replace rice flour for this recipe.. ^^; anyway.. yes there are people who make hotteok with rice flour. :)
What else do I have to add if I m using rice flour?
You left out the most important part... wait at least 5 minutes before biting into the hot hottek, or the molten sugar inside will send you to the burn unit of your local hospital. No joke.
Wow, you gave me goose bumps with your comment... so sharp point !!!!! You are right, I should warn people 😱Thanks for your comment.
mse3700 You have taught me a really good lesson with your words of caution!!!! THANKS!!!!
Each time I make hottek I burn the roof of my mouth and I promise myself I'll know better the next time... then the next time as I'm screaming in pain I promise myself I won't ever do it again... until the next time. The irresistible pull of the hot hottek is like the dark side of the Force. Evil, but oh so tasty.
haha you are very funny 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 Thanks
I made this the other day. It turned out amazing (I didn't use milk). The tip on the oven light I'll try that, my dough didn't rise that well but where I live it's around 38 degrees so maybe your tip will help.

Yes, you can use water instead of milk~~ I didn't try almond or coconut milk (espeically coconut milk can give strong flavor to it..so I'm not sure about that..) so to be safe.. I will say to use water.. almond milk sounds good though.. hope you like this recipe. :)
Do I have to have peanuts don’t have cam I make without it?
Kofe Peseta you can definitely leave the peanuts! I have done them just with brown sugar and cinnamon and its so good!
sure you can skip it..
They turned out great my cousin took the whole lot home they were that good 👏🏻😋
What can I substitute if I need a no nut or seed filling?
You can just skip the peanuts... (Some people add sesame seeds too..)
Hi aeri could you provide the "gram" of the ingredients you use? Because the different measurement of cup and teaspoon or tablespoon really confusing me xD tq
I'm sorry..but different country using slightly different measurement... so it is not easy for me to convert them... I like to use this site to convert the amount sometimes when people ask question.. so please check it out. www.onlineconversion.com
you are super adorable!
Wow, it's a big compliment to hear that from a pretty girl like you. :) thanks
Christina Smith I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!!!!
Do you think I can substitute flour with almond flour?
It sounds tasty and healthy...but since I didn't try it for myself, I can not tell the result.. I'm sorry about that.. You don't want to waste 3 cups of expensive almond flour to try it.. hmm... can you cut the recipe in half or even ⅓..and try it and see if it works ??
Where do I get that tool?
If you have a big Korean grocery store, they might have it. Amazon also sells it (amzn.to/2IZIIBv) but I think it's overpriced in my opinion.. I suggest you to use a normal spatula you use for your daily cooking.. that works fine too.. thanks
What is the feezer life for the hottek before fried?
I'm sorry but I didn't to freeze it before.. I can picture myself to freeze already fried hotteok..and reheat later to eat..but not the dough before fried..
'Generous cup of sugar' Because there is no little amount of sugar if you are trying to eat hotteok 😄
lol totally agree with you
Is it okay not to use yeast but still retain the measurement of each ingredient?
Edit: or maybe I could use baking powder as substitute for the yeast??
I'm sorry but you need yeast for this ... you can not eat yeast ??
Omg you're so beautiful ♡
How many hotteok you get for your recipes
With this recipe, you can make about 16 hotteok :)
Anyone got the recipe in Grams?
Oh, I'm sorry that my recipe is in American measurement standard. I like to use this site to convert the weight, volume.. etc.. Please check it it out, it is easy to use. www.onlineconversion.com
I'm sorry again for inconvenience.
@@aeriskitchen it's ok. Don't worry. It's just that the american system isn't exact at all. In fact it fluctuates way too much.
I messed up, instead of using 1 cup measure for the APF, I accidentally used the 2/3 cup and the dough turned so sticky. :(
oops ~~~~~ I'm sorry to hear that.. please try it again someday..
The recipe says 1/2 tablespoon, I'm pretty sure from looking at other recipes online that this should be 1/2 teaspoon.
why did you add white sugar? i thought brown sugar was sweet enough
Brown sugar and white sugar have different flavor and sweetness... you can only use brown sugar... but for me.. it taste better to mix both of them.. because brown sugar seems have it's own little bit bitter and unique flavor ?? if you think brown sugar is sweet enough.. it's fine you can only use brown sugar for your taste. ;)
alright, thank you 😁🙏🏻cause it’s my first time seeing someone add white sugar to their recipe.
hehe... really... that's common in Korea.. 😉
