No Bake! Perfect 👏 Hotteok from Scratch Recipe : Korean Sweet Pancakes 호떡 | SweetHailey

  • Hi, today's recipe is hotteok, Korean sweet pancake.
    This is a famous street food in Korea. I would say it is quite authentic food, cuz this is really Korean-ish.
    This recipe is really, taste the same as that I can get in Korea.
    So hope you like this recipe :)
    = INGREDIENTS =
    10~12 hotteoks.
    • Hotteok
    200g(1 1/3cups plus 2Tbsp) bread flour
    100g(3/4cup) glutinous rice flour
    20g(4tsp) sugar
    200g(3/4cup plus 4tsp) warm water
    5g(1 1/4tsp) instant yeast
    5g(1/2tsp) salt
    10g(2tsp) vegetable oil
    • Brown sugar mixture
    50g(1/4cup) sugar
    50g(1/4cup) dark brown sugar
    2g(1/2tsp) ground cinnamon
    40g(1/2cup) chopped peanuts (or your fav nuts)
    1. In a bowl, put every hotteok ingredients. Mix with hands or spatula, until well combined. Rest in room temp for 1 hour.
    2. In a small bowl, put every brown sugar mixture ingredients. Mix until well combined. You can use any kind of nuts, etc.
    3. First, flatten the dough on your hand. Wrap the brown sugar mixture with dough. Prevent the dough from sticking to your hands, work with oil.
    4. In low heat, drizzle some oil and put doughs onto the pan. After flip once, press with a flat cup or tool. Flip over and cook both sides. When hotteoks are puffed, remove from the heat

    I’ve made this twice already using your recipe! It’s perfect. I love that you added the glutinous rice flour because it makes it so chewy, just how I like it:)

    I just tried this but i dont have bread flour so i opt for all purpose flour but it was dry so i was adding water bit by bit until i reach the consistency from this video. I dont have kitchen scale so i appreciate the alternative weight in CUPS and teaspoons. THANK YOU 💖

    Made this 호떡 today and it was delicious!! I didn’t have bread flour or brown sugar, so instead I used all purpose flour and white sugar w/ a little bit of maple syrup, & it still turned out great! When making, I would make sure to be generous with the filling. It was a little hard to fold bc of how sticky the dough was, but the oil helped a lot. It also helps to be quick when folding. Personally, I would add just a little bit less cinnamon next time, but it might have something to do with my brown sugar substitute. Thank you for the great recipe! ☺️💛 Made me nostalgic of my childhood

    I thought to half the recipe but im glad i end up making the full recipe. Happy to report it was a hit! 👍the sides leaked when pressed. Probably i thinned the dough too much when wrapping 🤔

    Yesss.. many recipes only use bead flour or whet flour alone but i don't like the textures... I like if it mixed with glutinous rice flour 😁

      Before i made this recipe, i tried some of without glutinous rice flour recipe, but it was not same as real hotteok. This is really similar texture and taste that you can try in Korea.

    Hi may I know if I can freeze the dough? And also if I microwave the pancakes that have been stored in the refrigerator, would the taste be any different?

      I made a batch of these last month and I’d say they are good in the freezer for up to 2 months! And when you microwave them they taste exactly the same!

    what's the different between bread flour and plain flour? Can I change to use plain flour?

      Bread flour contains high gluten, which essential to make bread. If you don't have, i rather recommend all purpose flour instead of plain flour.

      Yes you can :) you can substitute any kind of oil, except olive oil

      It's kinda different, glutinous rice flour giving chewy texture. Sweet rice flour, mochico flour is all the same name of the glutinous rice flour, so hope you find nearby 🥺💗
