I'm really impressed with Ziga's runs, it stands as a testament to the benefits of learning to run your rifle. As much as I love the firearms community I think industry has pushed many of us into becoming consumers of the "newest, best, and game-changing" gear. Give me the guy who can run his Sharps 1874 proficiently over the guy who can't field strip his Sig MCX (personal example of two dudes I know).
Running a bolt action was far from ideal but the biggest setback were my mistakes and resulting penalties and not the rifle. I agree with your thinking but it has it's limitations
@@PolenarTacticalThat's very fair, I 100% agree there are limitations, and I exaggerated my examples. Thanks! Next month we're going to Finnish Brutality where we will also discuss the possibility of more Brutality events in different European countries next year :)
At first we had a split screen for the whole video but later decided not to use it as it was too distracting and covered up certain parts of the main footage. Next month we're going to Finnish Brutality and we are still debating in what way should we film and make the video so ideas and suggestions are welcomed :)
It would be interesting to see a "classics" class. Where you shoot weapons from a specific year or war lineage just to get your fun "larpers" out there and show that the old stuff can still be just as useful. A challenge that may be fun would be a stage to identify targets from a 2nd level, then run down to the 1st level to engage said targets that are concealed. Just for a memory test and shooting through "cover"
Could even combine something like that. Have stages with a certain theme/war period. Having to use a period (sniper) rifle from a higher level, then engage a second target on a lower level. Everytime going back down (or up) could switch at random between standing, kneeling or prone.
Yeah the electric fence will now forever be called the Ziga drill. We have horses and cattle.. and a 13J fense. One does not appreciate how intense it can be until that first "full power zap."
That's the thing, sometimes it zaps you just a little to give you a boost... but if you are sweaty and get the wire directly on the skin, it cramps the muscles like a taser - i let out an unintentional scream 😂
awesome video! Here are some ideas: - Challenge with gasmask on - Challenge where you will get disoriented (spinning with closed eyes) - Run the whole challenge while carrying 10kg vest - Shooting on the run (never stop) on the stage - add stages with shotgun and flying clay (not many people shoots with shotgun) - stage with shooting in the night (nightvision) - Challenge where you will disassemle your pistol > shoot 10 rounds with long raifle > assamble the pistol > shoot with the assemled pistol. - Challenge where you need to shoot with 1 eye open only (use eye patch of course :) ) - Challenge where you need to remember something. For instance > pick 2 colours out of 6 available > shoot paper target with rifle > move to position to shoot coloured target and you need to shoot only those that you picked.
Those are some interesting ideas. They have done masks at Finish Brutality, but there are two challenges, if people borrow a mask it's sanitation and sizing, and if they bring their own, it's an additional cost and uneven challenge (but still a viable idea). The vest is represented usually in the division, but they did a backpack stage at midnight brutality which everyone (regardless of also wearing armor) had to carry. Shooting while moving is pretty easy to game, and hard to RO, but it's a good training idea. I think a disassembled pistol is part of the two-day match that Ziga shot a year or so ago, it made race-guns a real liability. Memory games are brutal, but that is the point. to be clear, I just had some additional thoughts and the conversation is good for the channel, I'd like to have the time and funds to both get good, and be able to run a southern hemisphere match.
@@KarltheKrazyone Of course, some of them are easy, some of them are not easy, but I think it might be interesting combine some of them together. For instance - shoot on the run with one eye only. For a tough stage for both shooter and weapon, how about a "beach assault": start dry and jump into 2 meters of water then wade ashore, engage 3 targets 200 meters away, then crawl through sand and mud for 100 meters stopping to engage the same targets every 25 meters, finally sprinting 75 meters to engage the same targets at 25 meters with sidearm.

What a great idea, electric fence. They make me jumpy and apprehensive.... so repeated interaction required was clever. I like bolt guns, but have never mastered the middle finger-trigger technic.
The electric fence was tall enough so everyone could crawl under it without getting shocked. The dangling wires were spread out on different sides so it forced you to crawl around and loose time. Ian made it through this stage without getting zapped. I decided to just go through the middle as fast as possible for best time... The middle finger technique is that hard to do but you can see that i dont have a lot of training and practice with it because on almost every stage i first revert to the standard pistol grip and trigger press - only after i have to charge the bolt, i remember to finger it :D
That's not a bad idea and we have already thought about it. The problems with interesting/special stage designs comes when you are trying to make it equal for all 100 competitors. Stuff fails or changes in strange ways that are hard to predict. For example the car stage - we didn't expect that people would make such big holes in the gravel by pushing the car but it became harder for people later in the day. Also we didn't expect that so many people will hit the car while shooting... With gas masks the first problem is - do we supply the gas mask? If so, how can you clean and sanitize it for all 100 competitors? Everyone has different head size, soem people wear glasses, some are left handed... This doesnt mean we wont do it but we just need to come up with effective solution

Awesome to see CZ600 trail do well during the match. A couple ideas for t he next one would be a Low light/No light stage (dunno if it's practical to do a complete Midnight Brutality match), and maybe starting a stage strapped upside-down in a rolled-over mock vehicle and engage the first target with you pistol and low crawl towards each shooting position while dragging a combat casualty dummy around
Yes, a semi auto would be faster, always will be. But it does seem that running a bolt gun reveals so many bad habits a rifle shooter would have. And try doing it fast means you would be a more deliberate shooter and would get rid of things like unnecessary movement. Placing 30th overall in the match is extremely impressive as you've beaten mostly semi auto shooters! Plus, you had rely a bit more on other skills to pull through, which makes it actually a practical run!
Most malfunctions were caused by not making a proper full travel of the bolt - if i short stroked it or didnt close it completely, it cat do it's function
Ziga, you were mentioning that the CZ’s collapsing stock was too long. Any possibility of adding an intermediate set of cuts to give you a shorter length of pull?
The stock actually has two middle settings for length but they do not lock properly - the stock doesnt collapse but it can extend without pressing the release button
It was a great match, but you aren’t shooting bolt action unless it’s an Enfield no. 4 with stripper clips. And where was your revolver? :). Thanks for organising it, and I hope to be back next year.
Great video! I have CZ-600 Trail, but I have usually problem with first round. Regulary it is jammed, when I try to lock the bolt. Only first one, next are without any problems. I tried another Magpul 10-round magazine, but problems are the same. I use 55 grn GGG .223 amunition. Maybe You have had problems like me, and have some solution?

Placing 30th overall in the match is extremely impressive as you've beaten mostly semi auto shooters! Plus, you had rely a bit more on other skills to pull through, which makes it actually a practical run!
super fun
This looks like a genuinely good time.
running a bolt gun. What a boss.
hell ya
I'm impressed.
13:55.
Heh.
Great video. Great event! Time for an EOtech
Wow
A fix magnification scope + reddot and bipod would be better
That was awesome
thanks
I love that electic fence and double feed in bolt action rifle?
Interesting.
Most malfunctions were caused by not making a proper full travel of the bolt - if i short stroked it or didnt close it completely, it cat do it's function
@@PolenarTactical Oh thx i never use bolt action rifle.
Odlicno!!!
You were doing so well.
Here got the involvement!
love these videos
Anyone else’s mind get blown when they learned that Ian is actually a super shooter. I thought he was just a desk research guy. Badass
I run my bolt guns exactly that way!
It was a great match, but you aren’t shooting bolt action unless it’s an Enfield no. 4 with stripper clips. And where was your revolver? :). Thanks for organising it, and I hope to be back next year.
Oooh, the lowkey disrespect for Ian to come to your home turf with the Perun lol
Strange, i never had that problem aside from the jams during the competition but those were probably caused by me
Damn, some dudes got resetted to factory settings under that electric fence...
Just get some G-form pads for knees and elbows, unless it's agains the rules.
Love the videos, I have been meaning to get into sport shooting myself but I need to get my thumb out of my ass.
I really felt sorry for You when forgeting to cycle at 4.00-4.40 😞
Lynx Brutality match is am unlitimate test for shooting and physical skills.
Participants will be using 2 guns and aiming for highest score and be raked accordingly to the time and points earned.
Do the lowest scores get raked more? I see why they call it a brutality match.
