My favorite part about this event is that while most of europes shooting scene is incredibly worried about beeing seen as "militant" and thus do not allow camo or anything mildly tactical, the guys at finnish brutality are like "Well, at the start of this stage you have to out under this simulated dead body and then stab his face five times with a knife - Hits in the right eye are bonus points - only then the shooting competiton starts"
You guys are exactly the countermovement to the insanity in this world that our community needs!

    • @Kesssuli

Whole brutality competion is pretty much straigh SRA-shooting.
      Sovellettu Reserviläis Ammunta.
      Improvised Reservist shooting.
So whole idea there is to have tactical shooting/action situations what soldier could encounter while
      competing against your buddies.
So there is no need to mask it with anything to make it look like there is no military involvement.
because whole thing is straight from military for reservist to hone their combat readines as hobby.
SRA vs IPSC is pretty much orginal vs civilised version for masses.

I completely agree that the sport shooting scene in western European countries is very "we are only doing this for sport" oriented, as shooting federations' main objective is the World championships and Olympic games. Only in central Europe and scandinavian countries + Finland, where there are large volunteer reserve forces, the main objective of practical shooting can be openly "we prepare to repell invaders, and we enjoy doing it". This "recon division" could pass as a best "Ranger, Jäger, Commando (whatever one would name it) NATO competition".

Yari being recon really explains the emphasis on running. I was thinking
"what if we made this for engineers?"
Like have recon run through the waterlogged trench, and after each stage a bridge slowly builds so recon can run over the various states of bridge instead of through the waterlogged trench (or fall into it from bad workmanship).

You know, the point here about 'it's not really the rifle' is such an important one. People worry so much about 'Is this rifle better than that one?' when the truth is, if I had to guess, 99% of the time, it's going to be about the shooter skill and training. As long as the rifle meets basic functional requirements of course!

Imo, besides the great filming, it is capturing the whole match atmosphere. It doesn't try to oversell and instead of all stages in a row there are those breathers that show your suffering and we suffer with you guys while we reach for a drink that' a bit too far to grasp comfortably. When there is something broken or those short interactions in between that aren't too forced like with Mike, Jari and the polenar crew it just goes down like butter. I missed those behind the scenes overall atmo material like sitting around drinking from a finnish sausage or some activity you try even if it's just a few minutes. That can be just eating in between stages together like we sit with you guys. Seeing Manca is always nice A genuine shorter action may be better than you have a few minutes till the next stage and you have to get some content. From your Lynx brutality I also watched the booth video from some guy filming. Last time was the first one and quite hectic behind the scenes, maybe you can have someone be there and capture some products as well. Btw, even if you're not Rammstein, you can film all the hard work and the teams setting stuff up. It looks good and sparks interest in the upcoming match videos.

@@PolenarTactical I'll add this one really gave a sense of how the combo of running all that distance, and the drive to give it your all on each stage left you utterly wasted, mentally and physically.
That knee pain (possibly diagnosed by now) seemed similar to what I get on the right side also, Iliotibial Band issues. A sharp pain just beside the kneecap, towards the outside. It's really put a damper on my running, as 5k will set it off no matter how I try to avoid it.

      @@PolenarTactical
Yeah, Ziga, to answer your question...
In this video there's an honesty that came from absolutely being pushed to the limit. You didn't have the energy and the bandwidth to 'make content'. Instead, you gave us the events of the day, unfiltered by comedy, just the raw conversations. You had to ask your wife for a sock to stabilize your leg. That's as real as it gets.
You were knee deep in the suck, you embraced it, you pushed through, and you even surprised yourself with how well you did on many stages.
It showed an impressive work ethic and drive. Just like your interview with Samo and Ian, a while back, revealed your depth of understanding of all things firearms and the industry in general. It's good to see the different facets of what you guys bring to the table.
This was less of a normal Polenar Tactical video, and more of like a Rocky movie, if Rocky was a war documentary.
With all of the exhaustion and frustration, it created the purest form of content. The kind that resonates because it's just gut level honest.

This timeline is wild. Here I am watching guys compete at an event that's essentially training for war against me and mine - while preparing gear for my own training exercise innawoods. It's a complicated kind of feel.
Much respect to the competitors and the Finnish Reserve for doing this. I guess I'd better step up my game...

Why are you following me? Are you a butthurt balt from Butthurt Belt? What's the point of showing me this british propaganda montage?
I'm a drone operator myself and using quadcopters to drop handheld or 40mm frags on people is one of the most wasteful and useless things you can do with it. In all likelihood, at least a month of time and 2-3 drones were lost in making this minute-long video of inflicting horrible casualties (5-10 dead, twice as many lightly wounded, about as much as I can get in 5 minutes of using one drone to guide mortar fires). Sure, it looks cool, like in a vidya gaem, but so did the Reddit Legion back before their barracks got Kalibr'd.
At least the Finns are showing off actual relevant martial skills.

This is basically how biathlon was born - Norwegian military was combining skiing to exhaustion and shooting in the 19th and 20th century. Unfurtunaty that turned into the monstrosity that is modern biathlon...

I think a QRF (Quick Reaction Force) division where the run is only a quarter mile to a half mile (400 meters to 800 meters) but right before the stage would be a fun middle ground. Each run path could be an unknown distance within that range and a slightly different path each time. Ideally it would end at a rally point around the corner from the stage where they get a quick 30-60 second rebrief of the stage before starting it. The faster they run the more of a breather they get. When I was active duty my team leader didn't care as much about my 3 mile (5K) time because that was on me for if I wanted promotion points and to be able to stay infantry. He cared more about my 800 meter time because by our doctrine QRF was always with in a half mile unless we had vehicles and that's what needed to be as fast as possible. We never ran 3 miles in PT clothes in the field, but we sprinted a half mile in kit all the time.
