“MY son is a Cartwright” was diabolical 😭
Yep that was cold
So was when William told Andrea, "Do we?"
No matter how many times I watch this movie, im always taken aback by those lines and that smug look she had on her face 😭
Buddy sticking it out and raising that jit was CRAZY to me
@@chozengaming8547that was his son in his eyes and the only father that little boy knew.
This, Daddy’s Little Girls, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, and Madea’s Family Reunion are his BEST movies
Definitely! I’d add “why did I get married”to that list too
Yes! Yes!
YES!!! Wait, I didn’t even know Daddy’s little girls was a Tyler Perry movie till now. That’s a dang good movie
That's a lot of best movies for a producer, director and writer that we all clown for his work. Maybe he's not as bad as we claim... Who am I kidding?
Yeah, I know we clown on Tyler Perry A lot but he does have a few Gems in his catalog
Not her thinking he was going to leave his marriage for her. She was queen of the delulu. Honestly. Truly.
The oldest line in the Cheater’s Handbook. Delulu, indeed.
That’s what happens when you give your child everything they want WHEN they want it. They grow up to expect things to always go their way. Sets them up for failure 😩😩

The funniest thing was that Andrea had a reckless mouth with everyone in the movie including her own husband and mother. But when MRS CARTWRIGHT rolled up on her in that hotel room she didn't have a mumbling word to say. Jillian dressed her down like she was the chambermaid and she just sat there and took it. Where was all that mouth when that YT woman stepped to her? Andrea was full of shyte. LOL!
For one thing, I know shorty was good and shocked when that man's wife showed up to the room. I loved how Andrea spent years being disloyal and mean, yet lost everything she cherished in a matter of hours. Justice was served.
That part. There was nothing for her TO SAY, because she was in the WRONG.
That’s the etiquette when someone finds out you’ve been sleeping with their husband. 😂😂😂
1) I give it Mrs. Cartwright bc she handled it like a lady, someone else would’ve went buck wild on Andrea in that hotel room
2) Andrea’s mom and sister tried to tell her the grass ain’t greener on the other side but she didn’t wanna listen.
And 3) between Andrea believing that William was gonna leave his wife for her and Chris not seeing the obviously loud signs that his wife was cheating and who she was cheating with, IDK who’s more delusional 😅
@@cj8803I mean Andrea has never had a reason to say the shit she said but it didn’t stop her from
Ready to see Andrea get smacked for being so foolish😂😂
@@jakemiles1427OMG yessss I totally agree as much as I hated the character it was certain things I understood & one of them was her wanting more for herself & there was nothing wrong with that. Andrea will forever be the in the wrong, but Chris was frustratingly slow lolll. Him thinking it was a good idea to have a talk with his boss about starting the same business he's running and then asking for contacts on top of that showed such a lack of awareness. His inability to see that Andrea pretty much hates him, is also worrying. Then, using all her money to start a business without speaking with her first??? Andrea is delusional in an evil way and deserved to lose it all, but Chris was delusional as well, just in a more well-intentioned way. I know Ben was the only reason that construction business succeeded because Chris was hellbent on running away from any common sense chasing him.
That business is about to fail if Ben ain't in charge! 😹
Asking for a business loan on your lunch break in your work clothes??? They are both clueless. 😂
😂😂😂😂
These comments have me choking on my own spit. He was too clueless my goodness😂😂.
the way tyler never addressed how chris literally stole HER money to fund his business. likeee what
Ikr like they try to make Chris to be the good guy ??!! Like how ??? He stole money from her on a pipe dream 😂
Technically since it was during the marriage it’s their money as foul as it really is 🥲
People will run up debt or empty accounts right before a divorce happens all to often 😭🥴
They were married so I think that made it technically both of their property so he didn’t steal it in the eyes of the law
But I think that’s for joint accounts which I don’t remember if that’s what they had or not
But she owed him that u got him laying up and playing with yo mistresses baby thinking it’s his she lucky all he did was take that money because if i was him ……..
@@joselynwatson6244That may be true, but the account only had Andrea's name. The bank teller should not have even mentioned it's existence to Chris.
My issue with Tyler is that he does everything by himself. He never works with other people and that’s why all his movie have the same storyline and plot. That’s also the reason why most of his stories have plot holes in them.
This movie wasn't all him though. He had writers I believe
@@Lonelyeco yeah and that’s what made this movie good
@@Lonelyeco once he stopped working with lionsgate , things went downhill quickly.

As wrong as Andrea was for cheating, Chris was wrong as hell for stealing her money Chile
Tyler Perry doesn’t even know how banks work. If Andrea was hiding money in a separate account with only her name, the bank teller would be breaching confidentiality for telling him about her account. And then for him to go back to the bank and they allow him to take even a dollar out of her account is crazy 😂
@@deasyastarr yes seriously that’s such a big plot hole. You don’t even need to work at the bank to know that would never happen in 1 million freaking years 😂😂 I am mediately thought to myself that bank teller would be in so much trouble just for even saying that account exist

AS HELLLLLLLL. He did that shit before he even found out she was cheating. He was a dumb ass bum. And she was a cheater.
Yes Tyler Perry films do raise everyone’s blood pressure😅. I’ve never been so disgusted with Sanaa Lathan in this movie and she’s acting! Very well at that!
Edit: *ever. This movie got me in my feelings.😅 I was annoyed with her husband too. Was he that willfully dense? I’m guessing you’re doing Jason’s Lyric .The soundtrack was a bop!
I did, she was distasteful in Blade and Out of Time
Yea Sanaa has a knack for heel characters. Even her portrayal of Donna Tubbs in The Cleveland Show had some heel characteristics to it.
This was a great movie
@@coreyrae0183I would say more like blind. Once he saw Andrea for what she was he never looked back. If he were dense he would have forgiven her and hugged her back at the end. At that time, Andrea realized that she was the dense one.
Nah him taking the WHOLE 300k is crazy without saying anything is wild wife or not.

The WHOLE thing is INSANE! I would’ve been PISSED if I was his wife!
I don’t know. I kind of think it was okay since he lost his job. It didn’t warrant her evilness afterwards.
haha its blood money I don't care
Andrea was DEEP in Delulu Land and so damn entitled and so rude, but notice how in the end she clearly wanted Chris back. I always said if they did a part 2 to this movie, it would be Andrea being salty that Chris has since moved on and married someone who isn’t a narcissist.
She wanted him back because she lost it all and had no other option she don't love him she just needs him at a moment her life is crumbling
And the saddest part is that poor kid that she brought into the middle all of her bs.
Andrea got on my nerves. She didn’t even love her husband and just kept lying to him. I also felt like she was in some way jealous of Pam.
I agree.
Jealous of the fact that Pam had a successful husband and generally lived a happy life.
@@niabelizaire3596She felt like she was better than Pam because she worked in corporate america & screwed her way to the top.
Andrea definitely wasn’t me. I dropped my husband like a bad habit once I realized we weren’t going anywhere.
@@therealmarlonbellamy Which she wasn't, Pam could've gotten a corporate job just like Andrea, minus sleeping with HMIC (Head Motherfucker in Charge).
Maybe it's because I used to work at a bank, but Tyler Perry NEEDS to do research on the jobs he has in his movies. What irks me so bad about this movie is that there is no UNIVERSE where that bank teller should've told Chris about Andrea's account. It doesn't matter if you're married or not in banking regulations, either your name is on the account, or it's not. That alone is grounds for a lawsuit and criminal liability for both the bank and the bank teller who blabbed. Second, even in states that would consider that money a marital asset, Andrea would be entitled to AT LEAST half of it, if not all of it. There's no circumstance where he could take ALL the money in HER account and not face any repercussions at all.
And, this is not about the money, but Chris's way of going about his business plan was just so stupid. Andrea was not a good person but Chris was dumb as a box of rocks; he got a happy ending through sheer luck.
Also couldn’t she go after his business because it was started by her money that he took and she could use the paper trail to support her?
It was so ridiculous and makes absolutely no sense
The teller giving Chris info about his wife's account is real. Those b*tches at my bank would let my husband take money out of my account or paycheck, but deny me when I tried to do the same.
@@ricileigh88 The tellers would let your husband take money out of your SOLO account? An account that he is in no way associated with? Was this in 1970's Alabama??
I couldn’t agree more!
Notice how men don’t find a problem with the husband taking his wife money cause she was a cheater but get angry when a scorn woman does it
Notice how everyone thinks he was a good man even though he failed to take care of his family. A well to do woman can never respect a man like him. It’s only a matter of time that resentment kicks in. They were not equally yoked!
She was dead wrong having another mans kid ,trumped everything Chris did
Why do you assume its men making those comments and not women? 😒
Honestly yeah he didn't even know she cheated. I'd cheat on this toom
Nah he was dead wrong to take it but due to the narritive of the movie nobody feels bad for her
I love the line "It's your private thoughts that give me pause.." I said it for about two years after seeing this movie 😂 Some people just look like they are thinking something crazy!
and his dirty self always was
Me too! It’s yo private thoughts that give me …. Paws! Lol
This may be Tyler Perry’s best film.. and that says a lot lol.
Why did I get married is his best
Hell, I remember they played this on BET several times a day for about two weeks. I think they were trying to make a point if you ask me.
@@quameakbarnesI think this movie is better the characters feel more like real people in wdigm the characters felt more like tropes and weren’t developed enough
Andrea and Chris are awful in their own ways HOWEVER it always baffled me how Ben knew his FRIEND was being cheated on and clowned in the workplace but didn’t even think to tell him except when it involved him
Because oftentimes you become the bad guy for telling the truth about other people’s business. Especially if they get back together .
Also maybe it was to protect Pam. Regardless of their toxic relationship, she and Andrea were still sisters. Ben probably didn’t want to speak out of turn and make Andrea mad enough she’d cut off her sister.
Well as you saw in the movie Chris was in disbelief until Andrea literally screamed "He's my man Chris". If Ben had told him and Andrea denied it, then what?
@@kendall7086 he would at the very least become more aware. Maybe then through suspicion he wouldn’t be so clueless. Plus you don’t have to blatantly tell someone that u think their spouse is cheating. A subtle hint here and there so they can do their own “investigation” would do. I understand all the comments but I just can’t fathom having a friend and letting them being a fool around town. This isn’t protecting the friendship, but I do understand
@@hitona684I agree wholeheartedly. I would tell my friend.
Andrea would have gotten all her money back. Chris was not on the account with the six digits. It pulled as an associated account due to Andrea. Chris was not authorized to withdraw any funds. The bank teller messed up.
The check was either everything owed or a down payment. What I find funny is a lot women keep talking about her money but never about the money she owes him for forcing him to raise and spend resources on a child that isn’t his.
Yup, she should sue the bank. That’s what insurance is for
@@shayla106 👏🏾 That part!
@@bakedandbeadedThank you, someone else with common sense. They keep talking about him stealing her money as if she don’t steal years of his life and money to raise another man’s kid.

Yup. Theirs 3rd time.
Wow I never paid attention to this & I love something new 😭
Chris was indeed slow. The signs were there but he ignored them. He shouldn’t have stolen her money but Andrea got her karma. She lied to him and cheated and he stole from her without even knowing what she did. She’s lucky Chris stayed in “her” sons life
Well probably buy law it was his son because they were married regardless of who biological son.
Oh yeah. You could tell that he is slow. I thought I was the only one.
Chris never knew what signs to look for, which is why everything went over his head. His lack of exposure led to this
With certain things, people have to be told straight. They can't always read between the lines.
She wasn't going to raise that kid properly.
Every kid deserves a father and mother. Can't say the same the other way around.
He already had a relationship with the kid and it wouldn't be right to destroy that.
Chris had me like "dude, if you have 8 apples, and Andrea eats 7 of them..." 😂😂😂😂😂 Poor baby was SLOOOOOOOOOOW!! 😂😂😂 But he was indeed a very good man, and I believe Andrea always saw him as someone she could get over on. He deserved better.
He’s the poster child for husbands who deserved better.

I agree wholeheartedly. However, legally, when you are married it belongs to both of them unfortunately.
The fact that women keep on being that up instead of focusing on Andrea cheating says a lot to me….just sad.

I’ll never get over that slap over the counter 😭
I never put together that Charlotte took herself out. I thought she just passed naturally. Then again I was a kid when I first saw this and I haven’t watched it in awhile. 😢
Same here on both fronts of being a little kid when I first saw this and not having watched it in a long while. It makes everything all the more tragic honestly.
I don’t think it was intentional. She had Alzheimer’s so I assumed she just forgot how much she took.
The slap scene and when Cartwright leaves Andrea's mean ass makes me happy 🥰

I hated Sanaa’s character but Chris stealing her money just never sat right with me. She needed to sue the bank and put William on child support.
This was the last movie I watched with my mom before passing away. She asked me to play " I hope you danced" at her funeral. I did. I haven't been able to rewatch this movie since then.
I mean Andrea was goofy to think that man was going to leave his wife, but let’s keep it 100. She did secure that bag twice. Film continuity issues aside, she would have gotten child support off of him and spousal support from Chris after he spent all that money to start a business. I’d consider this an actual win for women in the Tyler Perry universe.
Right if I was Andrea yes I would have sue chris and the bank how dear y’all and took will for child support no way
I love Kathy Bates in this movie
She's such a terrific actress love her in this film and in Dolores Claiborne
I forgot taraji was in this movie, she been working with tyler perry since the Obama administration, oh GAWD 😭
Andrea can get a fat child support check tho...if that is really Cartwrights kid. If so, she gonna be living good. If not, she can still be living decent off of child support from her ex-husband now that he a business owner. The ending made it seem like she down bad & broke. She won't be broke, I know that much!
I wish they would have gone into more detail about what happened to her.
They made it seem that way because it was never about the money it was more about her being with William. She thought she had a come up and she ended up looking stupid. Man this movie is great and it also shows everyone how you should be grateful and appreciative for everything and everyone you have as the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Andrea had everything that MANY people would dream of having but she threw it all away because to her, all the good things she had were meaningless unlike William who had all this money and status which she wanted. Little did she know, William only saw her as nothing more than a good time and now she’s in a much worse place.
Yes exactly you are totally right
I knew this review would be coming soon due to it being highly requested. This was Sanaa Lathan’s first departure from her usual homie lover friend roles. Tyler Perry says that he likes to take actors & actresses out of their comfort zone by making them play different roles from the norm. Andrea used her father’s abandonment to treat Chris like shit & emasculate him to no end. Ben should have told Chris in the beginning that he was the laughing stock at work. Chris is the poster child for husbands who deserve better. I don’t condone domestic violence but Andrea deserved that slap across the encounter. The character who plays Jillian also played in show called " Private Practice". It was a spin-off from Gray's anatomy that Kate Walsh went to. I watched every SEASON.
Yes! She played Charlotte in Private Practice.
I was bummed they ended the show
I loved her in private practice
This is Tyler Perry’s best film to date. It was the most realistic among his other films imo. Sooo grateful you did this review 😩
Robin Givens looked too good in this film. With many of her roles usually being of the seductress variety, I love how she was just a wonderful and successful woman here in this film. Capable, beautiful, and being calm and collected with two of the most downright egotistical characters in the movie... I love this woman.
None of it made sense. No way her ex could get away with stealing all of his ex's money for his own private business (not their joint business ) and she goes away poor and jobless and relies on volunteerly given child support like charity. And no way she wouldn't get a pay out for sexual harassment or something since she was fired for having sex with her boss. None of it was real
Sanaa Lathan acted her ass off in this movie! I know this because I absolutely despised her character 😂
Sanaa Lathan played this role, because I couldn't stand her character in this movie
I already knew when you said “Horrible Southern Accents” you were talking about Jason’s Lyric.😂😂 I’m from the south and hearing those accents I was like 😗

In terms of tyler perry, this movie is a 9/10
Im not sure if Andrea was incredibly bold or incredibly stupid bcuz if my side piece gave me hundreds of thousands of dollars the account would NEVER have my husbands name on it 😂🤦🏾♀️ like wtf.. anyway much love to my fellow Cancer Kathy Bates ❤❤
And I would not have an account at the same bank either
That’s the thing you had a problem with? To me this would never be a problem because I don’t plan to ever be a cheater.
@shayla106 Iol I was just pointing that out bcuz its silly AF to me. obviously its not right to cheat on your spouse.
I didn't understand Charlotte's advice to Jillian until I got older. And now it makes so much more sense. If Jillian were to leave William, she could've gotten every last bit of everything he owned.
Andrea deserved that slap. She had a good man in Chris, but couldn’t see it because of what she saw William as. Why would he suddenly leave his wife after all the years of his affair with Andrea?
Easily one of my fav Tyler Perry movies.
I love how every character in this explains everything about themselves and how they're feeling in the first scene we see them in and in the first five minutes whenever they are on screen.
yea Tyler Perry has a habit of underestimating the intelligence of his audience and basically giving dialogue exposition early on, rather than just allowing the story to develop on its own. Similar thing he did with Why Did I Get Married. He definitely isnt alone in this writing trait but he makes it so painfully obvious lol
I watched this last week and I get choked up and full when Charlotte passes away, I love me some Kathy bates
I swear the ‘Cartwright’ boss has the same energy as the bald husband from Diary
Since family reunion season is coming up, I need you to do welcome home Roscoe Jenkins!
I feel like that’s a black movie that people do not talk about enough and it’s so good!
That's one of Martin Lawrence's best movies.
Honestly Ben was wrong too because he knew about that affair too and ain’t said nothing idk.
Andrea pissed me off
The resounding moral (at least to me) with this movie is inspired by Chappelle’s Show: When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong. Tyler tends to have repeated themes in his movies such as the high and mighty black woman who needs to be humbled, husbands/wives cheating on one another and someone getting their get back. I was about to say this movie from last week’s video hint but I wasn’t too sure. It’s been a while since I last saw this movie and your analysis was great.
As for next week’s movie, I’ll just wait.
Not just Tyler Perry I’ve noticed
@@quesoqueso7598 He could’ve been inspired by others or others could’ve been inspired by him to do movies with a similar theme.
“Pay me for my pain”
Sounds like Chris deserved to take that 300k then 💁🏽♀️
Chris was slow and a bum but Andrea should’ve divorced him instead of having an affair with a married man
I’ll literally never understand a woman willingly being put in second place
Why did she even marry him? She knew he was broke and slow when she met him. Tyler didnt give the viewers any understanding of what she even saw in him?
@@kendall7086 Because it’s Tyler Perry 😭

That's a Tekken KO right there. 😁
Not Tekken!! Not a Jin KO 😂
Yes, it's a Jin-type of KO right there. 😆

IDK dude, it felt more like Kazuya, LoL!
So much UMPH behind the strike, and Kazuya is known for being bitter 😅
@@JT_Saenz You have a point. 😆
Yassss
I will never forget that slap over the counter😂
Not you saying "let me find out that slap is in the contract" 😂! And Jason's Lyric is the movie for next week.
This is actually the movie that got me into Tyler Perry flicks.
Looking back, you can kind of see where his flaw of using melodramatic acting and line delivery to compensate for a lack of knowledge on the subject matter the movie covers starts. This movie is littered with inaccuracies about the stock market and finance, but damn they look good saying them
“Lying like Legion” almost took me out 😂😂💀
1994 with a fire song for the soundtrack from KC and Jojo? I can't wait for Jason's Lyric 🔥! And by the way, I'd like to thank you for the horrible southern accents mention lol! Because as a native Houstonian, I can assure you that is not how we talk 🤷🏿♂️😂!
This is probably my favorite TP movie of all time.. the one that made sense too me
I never understood why Andrea married him in the 1st place if she thought so lowly of him like he was gum at the bottom of her heels? As far as Chris asking his wife's boss to help him start his own construction company? A company that could possibly be their competition later on? Tyler Perry definitely wrote this.😂
Watching this back. I noticed that William had no regard or care for the woman in his life. He disrespects every woman he encounters. His mom, his wife, Andrea, Abby. I also noticed why the tittle is the Family that PREYSSSS
Thank you! I was the one who requested this!
One of the many sweetie. Calm down. Lol

Lmfao yall just made my day 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 “excuse the hell outta me”is sending me 😂😂😂😂😂
I love everything about this movie. Andrea was lost in greed and delusion. One of my top TP movies.
I also had no idea that Chris took that much money without asking. Wow.
Ms Alfre and Ms Sanaa been mother and daughter in three movies. They have Amazing chemistry but Andrea deserved that brutality move from Chris she was beyond disrespectful!
She really was. Normally I don’t condone men hitting women or people putting their hands on each other period, but in this case, Andrea deserved it. All of the times that she treated Chris like shit when he’s done nothing, that slap was a hundred percent justified. I was so glad that Chris didn’t take Andrea’s narcissistic, money-hungry and lying ass back in the end.
I disagree. That slap wasn’t proportional to the disrespect. He was supposed to knock her out 😂😂😂
What was the other movies
@@Meenalena06ikr? This, Love & Basketball and idk the 3rd one.

i personally never had an issue with Chris taking Andrea's money to start their company. I know two wrongs dont make a right but I can see how he may have assumed that more money would eventually be coming to Andrea from the company, since she lied and led him to believe the company was already compensating her so well thus far. I can also see Chris harboring quite a bit of resentment towards Andrea for constantly shooting down his dream, emasculating him in public and private, comparing him to her wealthy boss, and her overall just being nasty towards him and treating him like a burden that she refused to leave alone. Its almost like Andrea kept Chris around to use as a metaphorical punching bag, so with all of that mounting, then he gets fired and finds out about this secret money that his wife was hiding, so he kind of snapped and said eff it, cuz he didn't have much to lose at that point
20:00 in a nutshell
William: Chris, Andrea your wife?
Chris: Yea that’s my wife
William: Good, then you’re fired!
Chris: Me? I’m fired?
William: And Ben, you fired too!
Ben: What you firing me for Will?
William: SHUT UP!!!

Everyone talking about how foul he was for taking the money… This woman told him, “You will NEVER be William Cartwright.” Screw her and screw saving that money. 👏🏾
And she was stupid enough to keep all that money attached to her joint account. She should have used a different bank account
Jillian finding out about affair and confronting Andrea but still staying with William is redundant
I mean look at her lifestyle with him lol I think it’s on brand for a kept woman whose husband is cheating
The slap was so satisfying and so ironically funny 😂😂
27:07, According to wikipedia apparently "William & Jillian reconcile, slowly salvaging their marriage."
I call bs. William has a sweet tooth for chocolate
