I love this movie!! It was written by my pastor's nephew; every member of the family is named after someone in Preston (the screenwriter)'s family and the pastor at the end of the movie is named after my pastor 😊
I always get this movie mixed up with Almost Christmas, which I prefer more because the characters feel fully developed, where this movie I feel like they're underwritten along with the script. What was the pay off or lesson to be learned? I will say what I love about both movies is the characters are not stereotyped of how people think Black people act. It shows that we're flawed just like every other family in this world.

I hear you. However, considering Lisa raised Kelly’s daughter as her own, so she could pursue her dreams Kelly should have handled her with more love, patience and respect. For that matter Malcolm is the only father and provider the little girl has ever known, so that should count for something even if that relationship didn’t work out. Kelly had selective amnesia and an attitude towards her sister that I didn’t understand. I could understand why Lisa had resentment.

I don’t think Claude was trying to hide her from the family. I think he just was trying to find the right moment to tell his family because he probably just didn’t know how they would react to him bringing a white girl home not yes I get like when they found out about it they welcomed her with open arms, but at the same time, his mom still could’ve been mad at him same with his siblings that they didn’t get to come to his wedding. I know a lot of people would be mad at their kids if they got married in secret and didn’t tell their family just because of the fact that they rushed into things and didn’t think maybe having your family by your side during this joyous occasion would be upset I’m not defending what he did cause he should have went ahead and told his family but at the same time I think he just needed to find the right moment. Yes, it was Christmas Eve but it was a lot going on in the family at that moment in time and then him getting arrested didn’t help either so maybe he wanted to bring me an entire family together to tell them hey I’m married oh and we also have a kid on the way

I don’t think Claude was trying to hide her from the family. I think he just was trying to find the right moment to tell his family because he probably just didn’t know how they would react to him bringing a white girl home not yes I get like when they found out about it they welcomed her with open arms, but at the same time, his mom still could’ve been mad at him same with his siblings that they didn’t get to come to his wedding. I know a lot of people would be mad at their kids if they got married in secret and didn’t tell their family just because of the fact that they rushed into things and didn’t think maybe having your family by your side during this joyous occasion would be upset I’m not defending what he did cause he should have went ahead and told his family but at the same time I think he just needed to find the right moment. Yes, it was Christmas Eve but it was a lot going on in the family at that moment in time and then him getting arrested didn’t help either so maybe he wanted to bring me an entire family together to tell them hey I’m married oh and we also have a kid on the way
