Lisa Vs Kelli - I'm Team Kelli too. Kelli owned her life decisions & was unapologetic. She was sure of herself. Lisa wasn't & it seemed to bother her. She used to fact that she had a husband & family in an attempt to one up Kelli, but her husband was horrible so it was nothing to brag about. It sounded like her 1st pregnancy wasn't planned so their marriage may have been a shot gun wedding. Quentin Jr - I think Quentin Jr's attachment to his father was because he was his namesake & they shared the same calling for music. Since he was the eldest child, he also spent the most time with the dad. Claude - I don't know what Claude was doing! Why would he not tell his superiors or family that he was getting married?! Mel & Michael "Baby" Whitfield - As the youngest 2, they seemed like they didn't want to disrespect or disappoint Ma'Dere or their older siblings. Mel's main role in the movie was peacemaker. Baby, as the youngest Whitfield man, had a close bond with his mother & Joe. He was the only one who still lived at home & didn't want tension in the household once everyone left after the holidays due to wanting to pursue music. My last thoughts - I was happy that Lisa left Malcolm. That automatically took the sell of the dry cleaners off the table. It wasn't a good idea. Obviously they had done well from owning a dry cleaner. They had a beautiful home in Cali with a house assistant. The dry cleaner helped raise 6 kids with the youngest daughter being a lifelong student at a private out-of-state school. Lisa said the cleaners wasn't making money, however Ma'Dere was able to give them all profit sharing checks so Lisa wasn't being honest & just repeating Malcolm's talking points. Since Lisa, was already helping with the cleaners, she could train her 2 kids & make it a multi generation family business which are few in the Black community. It was mentioned briefly that Joe owned a funeral home so he was successful as well & explains why he could just give $10k to Quentin's bookies.

Claud is not a good provider. The way he has his wife stressed is not romantic and its unnecessary
Great review, I can not wait for The Preacher's wife review. It's my favorite movie

Lupe also appeared in the tv series desperate housewives she played Carlos mother
Keith Robinson who played devin fun fact was a power ranger when he first started acting.

The service dont play about going Absent With Out Leave. The way the movie played it out was very gentle. He woulda got discharged and fined likely. I'd have to google the specifics for USMC but movies are gonna movie lol

I forgot to mention the actor Keith Robinson it's amazing how far he's come from starting out as a Power Ranger and back then just being part of great black Cinema from Dreamgirls to this. Even before that when he was in that live action Fat Albert movie which I really enjoyed🎉🎉🎉🎉
