can you please explain the OBDII device that you used? Is It a special OBDII device for strictly this type of BU camera? or does any OBDII reader work? I have a 06 Ram 1500 with a Sony XAV-ax300 head unit that has a camera port. Thanks, Brian

Hello Brian, The OBD genie programmers are setup for each individual objective upgrade to avoid getting things program via the dealership. The stock setup is VIN locked for 1 vehicle for the back up camera or the objective of the RPO code that is added. We can make these work for more than 1 vehicle for a custom order or add certain objectives together but only a few. Let us know if we can help out more on live chat on the site www.infotainment.com

Will this interfere with the parking assist sensors? Will both work simultaneously?

Yes both should work as we are using the OEM RVC programming. This will intergrate into your current features.

I already have a harness connected where you say to plug in the RCA interface. There are no wires going to the RCA pin ports though on the factory harness. Can I remove the wires from the harness and snap them into the factory harness?

For anyone on the fence about trying it... I would say go for it .. Installing was very simple, takes for someone like me who has never attempted to try something like this before about an hour of your time .. and it works as Advertise. Money well spent

This is a very high quality camera. This also comes with the OEM handle which a lot of this cost is dedicated to. We offer units that are OEM or are as close to OEM as possible. If you are looking for a cheap aftermarket camera plenty of companies can provide that but that is not what we are interested in selling.

Full OEM handle assembly with camera (1280 x 720 resolution) and wiring harness < $70 on amazon. The OEM head unit only supports 480 x 272, and 7" aftermarket head units are 1280 x 720 max.
The lack of resoltuion specs in the video and on the website listing would indicate that infotainment's option is likely the oem resolution (480 x 272). The only mention of the resolution is subjective and qualitative at 15:36 -- good to know the "image and quality" is "awesome".
It could be concluded that the $70 amazon option at the very least has an equivalent resolution though likely higher than infotainment's offering; and to reiterate, the amazon option also includes the OEM handle assembly + complete wiring harness, just like infotainment.
So I ask, 'cheap' in what regard? The price is certainly less, the camera quality is equivalent or better, the handle assembly is OEM - maybe you could argue the plastic quality but the bare handle without camera is likely sourced from the same place infotainment gets theirs. Reducing other options to "cheap aftermarket" seems to have come full circle as what infotainment sells, is likely the same as other options, just with branding attached.
Let's say the amazon option is "cheap" in all regards, (except resolution as we know that's at least as good or better). If it breaks, I can replace it more than 3 times over before reaching the cost of infotainment's offering, and as we saw, it would only take a few minutes to swap out the assembly since there is a quick connect to the main wiring harness. I would bet the 'cheaper' option will last just as long.
I hope this brief analysis clarifies my original comments!
