- After we failed at fixing a K5 Blazer on DED I decided I wanted one. And I found a great one! This truck has minimal rust, a V8 engine and a 4-speed manual. But I really dont need it. Ive Fixed a few things and now its time to send it to a new home. Message me at fred@dirteveryday.com if you want it
It never ceases to amaze me how those old trucks are not all rusted out. At this point anyone looking for a truck like this would have to go to the southwest part of the country.

And a locked diff. The thing was a mountain goat. If your a young guy that wants to get into wheeling, buy this thing and go have have fun.
I have an 85 exactly as you described with 33-12.5-15s on it and an 81 too but the 81 has a 6 inch lift.
Dude, I just bought an 83 with the 6.2 diesel. It has the Banks turbo upgrade, 700R4 trans, and even less rust than that one. Found my unicorn! That's a nice truck too! Lucky the guy who gets it.
Man I envy you guys out west you find all the awesome trucks that have not turned into pile of rust.. I would love that truck. But already have project that needs to be finished..
Same here. And everytime I get my XXL hands stuck in my 4runner project, I swear my next project will be a full-size domestic vehicle.

That’s a non a/c truck. Aftermarket ac was added, probably a secondary system with the evaporator above the factory heater box. Pretty common dealer add on back in the day. Nice little K5.

Looks like it has the 12 bolt diffs, which should be a huge plus over the 10 bolts!
no such thing as a front 12 bolt, blazers had 10 bolts front and rear or 12 bolt rear and dana 44 front.

I. Cannot. Believe that some of you think this is priced too high. Go. Look. K5 Blazers and GMC Jimmy WAS 1k-5k. WAS. now they are minimum 5k and no motor or trans. Junk for 5k. This is worth it and I sent him an email and hope he gets back to me. I’m in. I’ll pull the motor and drop a Cummins in. It’s mine, if someone else hasn’t got it yet.

I got a partial restored ‘81 w/ a 350 “hotbox”.

I miss my ‘84 - It had the same engine and trans… Heh, I do NOT miss the 12mpg it got before I did the 350 upgrade. (Then it was 14mpg!!)
It's crazy how much they are going for a few years ago that was a 1500 truck all day I think that's stupid high but someone will pay it I have a 90 4 runner with a 5 speed and a 3.4 I reckon its a 10k truck all day but in reality it is only a 5k rig at max but the market says otherwise

If this is a 1983 model, then why does it have a 1980 (single headlight) front end? I thought 1983 came with 4 headlights.
I think it varied a bit according to trim level? I seem to recall the Jimmy's having the quad lights, while the Chevy's still had singles.
My '86 has the single headlight setup but it's an M1009 with an '84 contract year. Meaning though built in '86 it would be built to '84 spec.

Those 465 transmissions for all intense purposes are a 3-speed. That 1st granny gear is unusable unless you are yanking somebody out of a ditch.
@Dan Miller Back in the 80's I had a 1978 K30 single cab with a 350/SM465/NP205/Dana-60/14-Bolt and I only used that 1st gear from time to time like idling down a steep hill or pulling another truck out of a ditch.
My current Square body is the holy grail of square bodies. It is a 1991 V3500 Silverado 3+3 Crew Cab. It is the only year square body to come stock with the over-drive 4L80E connected to a NP205. It has 10" of lift with 38" tires.

Reality says it's still a 4 speed. Much like gender you can try to redefine it but a male is always a male....lol
I guess you have never spent much time in the woods or trail riding in the mountains. The granny low first gear is very helpful wheb crawling over rocks or up and down steep hills. Its also awsome in spot and go traffic. My 77 has the 465 behind a 6.2 diesel and out to 4:56 gears. The 4 apeed isvwry useful and was real helpful runibg big tires with less gear. If you yow heavy, 4 wheel or do any woods work you will ubderstand the 465

Squarebody prices are going through the roof right now. He'll get 7k for it. I have no doubt in my mind. I've seen worse trucks go for more.
Odd that it has a 465 swapped in, but they left the 305.
The trans alone is getting hard to find locally, it seems every time I find one for sale I get there just after it's gone.

It came with a 3 on the tree. Really rare, but they did exist.
Three on the tree would have had two visible linkages shown at 3:48. One short one longer. Automatics only one.
