Being invited by Triumph, you've made the big time! People are going to bang on about comparing it with the CB650R and the MT07 but the GSX-S750 is currently selling at £7,249. Having test ridden the GSX-S750 with its 112bhp it's the bike I'd buy right now.
Technically that bike isn't in the same sector. All the other bikes are under 95bhp and can be A2 restricted. Personally, I can't stand the looks of the Suzuki naked range other than the SV which looks pretty cool.

I'd by the Triump but the cb650r has 4 pot radial mounted calipers. I hate the 2 pot sliding on the triumph. They stick and bind over time. There's no place for them on this level of bike. Even the cheaper suzuki sv has 4 pots. Even the ladies z650 I believe. . The CB is technically better but the inline 4 lacks character of the triple and twins of its rivals.

Great review Dan, excellent quality. At 56, In September I decided I wanted motorbike so within 6 weeks I managed to take all the tests and so close to buying the XSR700 Tribute when our second lockdown happened in the UK and all of the shops closed. A day later Triumph launched this and has completely blown me away. I've lost track of how many videos of motorbikes I've watched over the last 6 weeks! I'm surprised more test riders don't compare the Trident to the XSR700, to which I think it looks closer too, than the MT07? I'm 6 foot tall with a 30 inch inside leg measurement (so not long legs) and 16 stone. So I hope the Trident would be ok for me? I have a deposit on one and can't wait to try it.
I’m in the exact same boat. I had my eyes set on the XSR for nearly 6 months until this came out. Now I think I have shifted my eyes to purchase the trident instead. The only let down for me is that I absolutely love the exhaust sound of the XSR with an after market pipe.
@@Tybward I'm not so bothered about that as you can hardly hear it when you've got your helmet on. The only other thing is that you can guarantee that they will be bringing out a Euro 5 compliant version of the XSR700 at some point next year? It might still not have the features of the Trident though as the MT07 didn't have anything new on it.
Cheers! While I agree in terms of looks it is closer to the XSR, the MT07 is the King of the middleweight nakeds at the moment and that's what the Trident is going for. I can't say about anyone's height other than my own as we are all different shapes and sizes. However there were taller people on the launch and I don't remember them saying anything negative about the riding comfort or position.

Hey, nice to see you got invited to the press launch! You do great videos man, let's hope this becomes a regular thing and that the channel keeps growing :D
Watched your and other reviews on the Trident and went up to Triumph’s Newcastle dealership and placed a deposit the following day. Spec’d it up a little and it came in at £8.5k but you get a lot of bike and tech for that money. Two weeks yet to wait for it, it’s like Christmas when I was a kid 😂 Exciting stuff!!
Hi Dan, just a few questions . Can you put a tail tidy on under the rear light and can you put a screen on it and what are different types of trident like the rs on the street tripel thanks again great vid
Hey, not sure on the tail tidy but I am sure a 3rd party will make something. Yes, you can put a screen on it but no other runmours of different versions at present.
I really like the look of this bike and the seat height and weight are also a plus for me. Thanks for the video can’t wait to see you’re in-depth review on it.
Thank you for the video. I've watched several videos of vloggers that were there with you but you managed to convince me to drop the MT07 for the Trident. I currently have the MT03 but am looking to move up.

Damn what nice roads in Spain. The frost-heaved backroads here in Eastern Canada will have you quickly shifting your weight to the foot-pegs. The new Trident is a perfect bike for real-world riding and who cares about 200 hp bikes you can't use unless you own a race-track. Still my 2010 Triumph STR 675 has an unbelievable sound from the intake and Arrow 3-1 exhaust. Even at 60,000 kms it is faster than new.

What a beautiful road and destination. I got caught up with looking through the corner and anticipating the next dip in the road. That is why I ride. I am the road warrior. Otherwise great review!
It was this video that made me fall in love with a Trident and propelled me to get my license and buy one 😀 if you ever come to sunny algarve let's go for a pint!
I have to say, this is the first review of Trident where the camera has a nice position and I can see the speed and gear you are in. I was wondering if anyone will show 1st gear challenge, but unfortunately not. I see 2nd gear goes up to 90km/h (~56mph) and 3rd gear up to ~120km/h (~75mph). If this torque is really as good as they say at low rpm...it may be a decent city commuter. But that throttle lag slightly worries me, a few people already mentioned it.
Apparently the throttle lag is to make it friendly for new riders. It's only down low that I noticed it and when you get going it was a lot better. Still, I would have like the option of a 'sport' mode to reduce it.
@@Englishbikerdan Lets say you are in 2nd gear, cruising with traffic ~10-15mph. You see a gap cage man left you and you want to swiftly just wrummm, jump in before he will understand what's happened. Will that lag throttle kick in? Will your acceleration be affected?
I will hopefully get my A license in a couple of weeks when I have my driving test and really looking forward to get and test drive this and the cbr 650r as they are both bikes I really like and want 😅
As a CB650R owner, I am looking forward to your comparison video between the Trident and the CB650R. I am having a thought of getting the Trident when it is available in my country next year. I have never own a triple before and I love the sound of Inline 4, so it will be a hard decision. I decided to put an Akrapovic Racing Line Titan Carbon tip without the DB killer on my CB650R after watching your review video a year ago!
Nice to see a manufacturer recommending service intervals of 10,000 miles, for years we have been forced to waste our money on unnecessary services to validate warranties 👍👍
do vs CB650R video? jealous you get to test ride it. In Thailand we got to wait until Feb 2021 until first batch of Trident arrives. It is priced exactly same as CB650R here. People are arguing that a Triumph should cost more for service vs a Honda, any thoughts? Also, how are the suspensions and the brakes? Aren't they almost or exact same as the CB ?
Thank you for a visually stunning and interesting review. My only criticism is that you mention the riding position/comfort of your legs and reach to the ground - useful only to anyone of the same height (whatever that is))
Great review and the best looking, most watchable video I seen so far from this launch. This video also seems to showcase the sound of that triple better than the others I've seen. After this review I'm starting to like the look of the black version best. BTW....what is that helmet?
I don't think it was as it did it at the hotel too. It seems to be a very gentle throttle curve at low rpm so as not to intimidate new riders. This was however a pre-production bike so it may have changed since. I'll be getting a Trident for a few weeks at the end of the month so I'll find out then. Cheers.
That's a nice bike, nice place and nice review. It's a shame this is not a very affordable bike in my country. I have a question though, why don't you blip during downshifts? I feel its a little harsh on the bike, even with an assited (Im assuming) clutch. Take care!!
I don't rev match or blip if I want to employ some engine breaking to help slow the bike down into a corner. Thanks for watching, it was a fantastic weekend in Tenerife! 👍
Great review. Bye the way I think "micro-climates" are one of the reasons why I enjoy riding although looking at the moisture on your tires at the end of the video I can say that rain is a micro-climate I can do without (especially if it's accompanied by lightning).
While it's great that there is an extra option, I can't help but feel that most buyers either want the roar of a twin cylinder or the scream of an inline 4. I know you said this is the best of both worlds but it seems more like a master of none. Maybe that's just me.
DAN GREAT VIDEO. Long time sub here. I currently ride a CBR 250R and am looking to upgrade next summer. Ive had my eye on the CB650R since it came out and have wanted one since it launched. HOWEVER. THIS TRIPLE IS VERY TEMPTING. I NEED ADVICE ON WHICH TO GET LOL. They cost the exact same in Canada so price is not a factor! What do you think? More grunt down low wit hthe Triumph, or More powert up high with the CB? Help me make up my mind!
If you liked this video I'd appreciate it if you liked and subscribed. It really helps the channel out! Ride safe. 👍

There were no accessories available for us to test.
Excellent review Dan. Looks like you had great fun in the sun.😁
What a beautiful road and destination. I got caught up with looking through the corner and anticipating the next dip in the road. That is why I ride. I am the road warrior. Otherwise great review!
production quality is increasing, keep it up
Awesome bike and dope review ! cheers Dan !
Damn that's a nice bike, more than fast enough for me. Congrats on the launch ride, you lucky chap,
Incredible production value.
Subbed. Im looking into getting a CB650R this spring but now this thing arrived. Looking very much forward to you comparing these two.
Great review & sounds gorgeous when given the berries. Riding those roads was like a 'dodge the cyclist' arcade game!
It was this video that made me fall in love with a Trident and propelled me to get my license and buy one 😀 if you ever come to sunny algarve let's go for a pint!
Thanks mate, glad this video helped.
Jealous, i have my test drive booked next year. Beautiful bike. Be nice addition to my CB650R
How did the test ride go? How was it in comparison to your cb650r? Thanks
@@henrylund1577 It was cancelled due to covid :( still waiting to hear when i can
@@SteveOMoo Please keep is posted, I'm really interested to see how they compare
Great review Dan! Beautiful bike!
Beautiful video, What Is your camera?
Thank you! Gopro hero 7 and Sony A6300 for B roll.
Awesome production Dan. What do you use to get the good commentary audio from inside your helmet? I assume it's not captured by the GoPro.
Idk how he does it but he can mic up the gopro
Cheers Dom, yeah just a mic shoved in the lid with a deadcat and then it's all linked to the GoPro via their adapter. Seems to work really well!
@@Englishbikerdan I always thought they should call deadcats deadmau5’s
@@Englishbikerdan which gopro’s do you use? Thanks
@@Fee.1 I use the 7 at the moment.
@@hosuyakawayazuki That's not what I experienced no. It's literally just off the line stuff.
Great vid been waiting for this! How do you think it would fit a lanky legged 6ft1 new rider?
I'm 71 and bought a trident 670 been riding the big stuff ally life I like it I call it my mopad....
This is the bike I have been most excited for, such a stunning bike in every way
I will hopefully get my A license in a couple of weeks when I have my driving test and really looking forward to get and test drive this and the cbr 650r as they are both bikes I really like and want 😅
This bike is beautiful . For me? Yeah. Dan , cool review, good job 👏
Great bike looks like. Gen 1 makes me hesitate
Does that engine sound wear after a while?
As a CB650R owner, I am looking forward to your comparison video between the Trident and the CB650R. I am having a thought of getting the Trident when it is available in my country next year. I have never own a triple before and I love the sound of Inline 4, so it will be a hard decision. I decided to put an Akrapovic Racing Line Titan Carbon tip without the DB killer on my CB650R after watching your review video a year ago!
Nice to see a manufacturer recommending service intervals of 10,000 miles, for years we have been forced to waste our money on unnecessary services to validate warranties 👍👍
What is the ground clearance on this machine?
Great video nice bike stay safe looking forward to next one 🇬🇧👍🏻
What a surprise , didn't expect , great video 👍🙏😀🎃🚴
do vs CB650R video? jealous you get to test ride it.
Very nice review, i also have the CB650R and i cant wait for your comparison. I'm also interested in getting this one, bike looks so good..
Hey mate, if you compare this bike to its Japanese rival which better bike?
Hey Dan. Would you please make a comparison video between the Trident and Cb650r.
Watch till the end 😊
For a 6 foot height person, would the Trident be on the small/cramped side?
Which one would you prefer between trident 660 and Honda cb650r. And pls give some insight on kawasaki z650??
Thank you for a visually stunning and interesting review. My only criticism is that you mention the riding position/comfort of your legs and reach to the ground - useful only to anyone of the same height (whatever that is))
Clip ons and headlight cowl would make this a beutyful caferacer 🔥
I think you're right!
Why you have to turn everything into a caferacer 🤢.
Great review and the best looking, most watchable video I seen so far from this launch. This video also seems to showcase the sound of that triple better than the others I've seen. After this review I'm starting to like the look of the black version best. BTW....what is that helmet?
How it feels compare to cbr650r/cb650?
How do you find it compares against the cb650r in general Dan?
I reckon it will be between these two bikes for my first big bike
Hi Dan. would you say it's as fast as the MT07? Thanks.
It felt not quite as brutal low down but had more up towards the top, to me at least.
I wonder if the "Lag" you spoke of at the end might be due to the altitude you guys were riding at .. :)
Very skilled rider. Impressive scenery and a heavenly road!
Not sure about skilled but the road was amazing! Thanks!
Great review. Bye the way I think "micro-climates" are one of the reasons why I enjoy riding although looking at the moisture on your tires at the end of the video I can say that rain is a micro-climate I can do without (especially if it's accompanied by lightning).
Sensible bike.Great review.....👍
If u could say the music used in end of the video.
Lets hope they don't have same electrics problems as the liquid cooled Bonnies .
someone please tell me where is this road in uk??
Is there any vibration at the handlebars or foot?
Any aftermarket slip on exhausts for this yet?
So do you think there will be an RS version with the Street Triple 765 RS engine, brakes and suspension?
I would say probably not. Not anytime soon at least.
Great video.... What's the ground clearance on this though?
About 6 inches.
@@Englishbikerdan thank you
While it's great that there is an extra option, I can't help but feel that most buyers either want the roar of a twin cylinder or the scream of an inline 4. I know you said this is the best of both worlds but it seems more like a master of none. Maybe that's just me.
I would say, the handling and character of the engine are what really stood out for me.
This one or the Honda cb650 r?
