Nice, clearly depicted and explained instruction video. One very important thing missing is this, If you intend to use a camera mounting or having accessories connected (e. g cables) make sure to have the items connected/attached before you start the gimbal calibration process. If you add/connect items to the camera after calibration, it can upset that calibration. For instance, a connected HDMI out cable will put some tension on the gimbal axis.
Nice job. For some reason everyone makes balancing this gimbal sound like brains surgery and explain it in the most confusing way. This is a great video. Clear and easy. Well done.
The DJI official balance tutorial is awful to an embarrassing degree! This is for sure the clearest and most well explained balance tutorial I've found anyway. Subscribing to the channel for sure.
Been using mine for a year now, and it's a b*****ass motherf****** every. single. Time. You even think, "OK. I've FINALLY gotten it balanced. I'll just mark on the foot and different spots where it should be. NOPE. You must jump through satans hoops every time you want to use.
Thank you, thank you! I've generally had trouble getting my unit balanced. It worked properly, but I could tell there was some strain on the motors. This definitely helped me get the perfect balance, at last.
I've never understood why no engineer has developed a system where all you have to do is mount your camera and push a button that calibrates everything on its own. Is that too much to ask?
Apparently so. I think the strategy here, is to piss even the most patient person off to the point where they smash it, so they have to buy another one.
I dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me.
@Jeffery Bronson Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
PAN RE-BALANCE ISSUES READ THIS POST!!! Soooo...I run the balance test on the app (10th time is the charm right?): Tilt: Excellent, Roll: Excellent, Pan RE-BALANCE NEEDED. So I decide after watching about 5 of these videos that I can't be that dense. So, as with all things new and technical, I decide to do the firmware update. BOOM! problem solved!!! Excellent now appears for all three. Ah...I'm not an idiot ...the app told me so! Please save yourself some frustration and do the firmware update FIRST. I'm not sure why not a single video mentions this but that's all it took! I hope this helps at least one other person.
Thank you ! My pan axis is stable and it kept telling me that, I was driving myself crazy with all the readjusting and making it worse lol. Ur the only one I’ve seen who commented on the issue, didn’t know it was a firmware update.
A bit late, but i have the same issue, my roll axis is VERY tight. So what i figured was, lifting the Tilt axis a little and then shifting and that works like a charm. Idk if I'm doing it right or not but it works. Hope that helps.
After balancing my gimbal a couple times now I feel like your video is the best I have watched, a you do it quick and efficiently getting straight to the point, even though it did take a while on your first few goes, with other videos 😂 thanks 🙂
Your video is excellent ! Just one piece of advice, wearing a black outfit is not a good idea if the objects you’re manipulating are black too 👌🏻. Even the table is black, creating contrast between objects is always a good idea for tutorials. Thanks a lot for the video, helped a lot!
Thank you for this awesome tutorial, I got it on the second or third try, I found I had to put on the spacer plate to get the balance right on the A6300
The official DJI tutorial on this must be one of the worst instructional films ever! This, by contrast, is a brilliant tutorial that DJI should be showing us. Thank you!
1:45 yes, I'm with you so far, right done that. 2:05 Wait, hang on. It just wants to go back to that "pointing at the sky" orientation like you just told me to set it to.
When I do the tilt access the camera will not stay pointed up. But when I do the test on the phone nothing comes up. Am I doing this right? I have a Sony nex-7 is the camera just to light? Or what am I supposed to do...
Hello, I wanted to drop a line to thank the creators of this excellent tutorial. I was able to balance my gimbal successfully. Quick question, I was practicing and decided to change the length of the lens from 24mm to 50mm, and the gimbal didn't respond well. Is there an additional step I am missing? Thank you.
I’m still having trouble with balancing by DJI Ronin S with my FS5 Mark ii, I also have the small monitor and microphone attached to the Ronin. I can’t balance it at all. Please someone help!
Have you had any luck using the 5D Mark IV with the Ronin S for motion time-lapse in photo mode? In the scenes I've shot, the exposures vary every 3 frames, as if I'm bracketing exposures (but I'm not); and this causes the still image sequence to flicker like crazy after processing. Any thoughts are appreciated!
Hey, can I please ask if you have IS stabilization turned on while mounted to this gimbal? I have Dual IS (both body and lens) on my Panasonic GH5 and was wondering if I can leave them on while on this gimbal for buttery-smooth footage or will this cause it to look unnatural?
How can I set this up quickly when I’m filming if I haven’t got 20 minutes to balance everything in a busy environment. It’s not exactly a easy set up process.
I balanced camera/lens combinations in the office and made a reference card with the measurements. Always remember to take off strap, take off lens cap, insert memory card and battery. If you're using a zoom lens you may need to do this for different focal lengths because the elements in the lens move.
Trying to balance my sony a7s ii on a DJI Ronin S and I'm having issues balancing the TILT axis. Every video says 'you'll know it's balanced when it maintains its position'. But mine won't stay still it just flops forwards and backwards. I read something about using the camera riser plate to solve this but I'm not sure how this is supposed to work... ANY IDEAS PLEASE??
Okey I think I have a problem. So when I have my PAN axis properly balanced, I make the Balance Test with the app and it says: Pan: re-balance needed. And if I dont balance my Pan Axis and I do the test it says all EXCELLENT. Whyyyyyyyy?!!!

not bad easier i suppose then the old non moterized gimbles which was a pain in the ass but having to do this each time seems more like a pain. lol or if you have an assistant to do it for you haha.
everything worked fine before when i had my canon 700d and balanced it just as you said in the video. now i just got me a new sony a6300 with battery grip and the 16mm f1.4 and when i try to balance this set, everything say excellent but the tilt doesnt even tho i do exactly as you say in the video? (yes my firmware is updated) help?
help me please! i just bought a new ronin s and plugged in the charging cable to the usb c port it started to charger but when i tried to remove the cable it got stuck to gimbal and is not coming out of the c port!! HELP PLEASEEEE!!
I actually had the same issue. Looking around the forums there were a lot of people experiencing the same issue. You just have to force it out :) (gently)
@@alecstall4219 I actually returned the one I was getting this issue (different reasons) and the replacement didn't have that issue. I'd say force it out and run it through the motions cause it might be part of a flawed line.
I dont understand! the second balance I am unable to do.. theres no way that camera is pointing straight up in the air as it always wants to swing back down to the ground.. how the hell is this even possible??
After multiple attempts of watching tons of these videos i'm no nearer to getting my gear balance. Does anyone have reading for attaching the A7s with Sony Zeiss 35mm?
@@davidpaez5626 I figured it out. Had to raise the camera even higher. I thought it wasn't ok to go below the "0" measurement but it's fine. Also had to tweak the plate under the camera to compensate.
Finally, someone who knows how to explain this fully. DJI, scrap your tutorial and use this one. Thanks man! Great and helpful video!
Agree.. just tried to watch the DJI.. an excercise in frustion! This one is good..
This is BY FAR the easiest and most efficient instructional video on how to do this. And I’ve watched a ton of them.

This was one of the more helpful tutorials on how to balance the Ronin; I have watched at least a dozen and this was great. Thank you!
Thanks for making it look so easy. I’m seriously thinking of returning this blasted thing.
Maybe your lens is too heavy
God does this thing drive me insane
I thought i was the only one ..
Find it easier pinning jelly to a wall
Sold mine after trying to work with it for months.. only usable if you use one camera lens combo. such a pain in the ass to balance..

Am I the o my one who didn’t get one of those bags inside the case? I got a ronin s as well.
you likely got the essential kit, it doesn't come with the bags

As I can see in this video its not a problem that roll axis is leveling the camera when you tilt 3:21?
So when my camera tilts forward and backwards quickly depending on which direction the camera is already tilting, how should I adjust the tilt axis?
the tilt wont balancen i have an a6000 and a 50mm on it dk what to so, tried everything
