Okay, to be the odd one out in the comments that isn't a meme, this EP really pissed me off. Mainly the fact that Dream is anything BUT a talented musician. And to see him getting all of this positive treatment, with him being signed by Republic Records & everything, especially knowing there are dozens of really talented artists who would do everything to BE in that position, it's just absolutely miserable that we have this rich sadboy Minecraft youtuber who cheats at speedruns getting the ultimate alt-pop musician treatment.
You want something from a small artist that deserves recognition I would definitely recommend nishith - poison ivy

okay so - i used to be a huge dream fan, and when he first released Roadtrip all the way back like 3 years ago, i gave it the benefit of the doubt because it was clearly just him making a song to have fun. it was catchy and not the worst thing ever so i didn't mind it. his other two singles i felt the same way. there was clearly not much in the way of skill or talent but he was just having fun and there was no reason to hate him for it.
at this point i can't really excuse it. him getting signed to a record label despite having no talent as a musician just because of his name recognition is SO stupid, and he's now past the point of making music just for fun from his house and he's releasing EPs and clearly attempting to take it seriously despite his lack of... EVERYTHING that makes a good musician.
Likewise used to be a fan, and I distinctly remember trying to rewrite my brain chemistry to imagine his song Mask having the vocals that the Mask parody song had. The ‘I’m just fine’ line in the original song which became ‘doggy style’ in the parody song unironically has more emotion in the parody in my opinion. If that song had the parody’s vocals I think it would be one of those youtuber songs that I occasionally crave relistening to, à la Honestly/Honestly or Life is Fun. Not incredible, but decent enough, with a handful of moments that are good.
When a Yung Gravy feature is the best sounding thing on your project you must realize that maybe you're doing something wrong

Using technology to close a talent gap isn't always a bad thing, but making it work itself requires effort and an artistic touch. Conversely, dream singing monotone isn't bad, but he should probably find a genre/music style that compliments it.
