I was convinced that he was going to stare off into the distance for 10 minutes and 54 seconds based on the intro alone but he did a standard review and I don't know if I'm happier with this outcome or not
That would've been equally as acceptable, that was my reaction after hearing this thing
I like when he actually talks the shit because then I actually know why the album is bad in his eyes.

Not a huge A7x fan, but after hearing this album a couple times, and finding out fantano doesnt like it, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ALBUM.
Dude he shit all over it and it's not even that bad. Yes I can agree with him some parts of the record are just weird and outta leftfield but I still enjoyed the prog and more complex songs like Cosmic and G.

Stopped listening to Sevenfold years ago, decided to check out this album and theyve sucked me back in. Unreal. Incredible. Genuinely listening on repeat. Love it. What about that piano number at the end wow.

First listen of the album i was a bit disappointed, all the other listens after it easily became one of my favourite albums. Its too good
that's the thing about fantano. He said in a video he listens to albums at least a couple times before doing a review. well I think he does not do that anymore. I don't think he even listened to the whole songs start to finish

This album is definitely a grower. It's a bit of a headscratcher on first listen as it's so out of left-field, but subsequent listens are really excellent. You know what it's about, and approach it on the album's own terms. It's a genuine masterpiece of an album.

Every way you described this album sounds amazing. Broadway clown in field of demons meets fish in space with thin guitars?!? Weird Al avant garde metal? Hideous jazz metal? Might have to buy it today.
It is great, the more I listen to it the more I love it, there's only one song on it I dislike. Honestly might become my favorite album by them.
For reference, there's a song on this that starts off sounding like AIC then suddenly genre swaps to some drugged out Beatles shit, and a song that sounds like a 50s big band crooner song that turns to batman music at random. Shit's wild.

@@leoflow2290 Game Over is the one I dislike. The vocals on the prechorus and chorus sound really out of key to my ear. Makes it really hard for me to get through.
I love Easier, the lofi eq used on the vocals during the verses bothers me a little though, sounds like Matt is singing into a pillow, I think it'd sound much better with a standard bright eq. I love the intentionally autotuned chorus and synth in it.

This new album sounds like the soundtrack to a teenager who's numb and on meds for ADHD lol

I wanted to like it. I listened to it about five times through, but it's not good. It's like they had several disjointed ideas for each song that didn't fit together at all but decided to throw them together anyway. Waaaaaaaay over-produced. I did kind of like Cosmic and Ordinary, but that was about it.
I'm pretty sure M. Shadows's speaking parts on G were him after he listened to the album for the first time:

Sometimes metal sometimes not, more of a different genre for each song type of thing and I think that turns people off, but if you give the album an unbiased listen and maybe give some of the songs a second listen I think a lot more people would like it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

I think the album is way cooler than it is good if that makes sense. I didn’t like the songs as much as I wanted to, but I absolutely LOVE the fact that one of the biggest bands on the planet said fuck making money and did whatever they wanted. I hope it inspires more bands to do the same because it will result in some incredible music.

This album has entered my top 5 of all time. Nothing like it has ever been done before, and in 2023, that is absolutely insane. I love how avenged has matured and evolved instead of just writing the same metalcore album for 20 years
Sleep token sounds quite a bit like this album. And sleep token is already derivative of Ghost with a splash of Imagine Dragons. No offense , but this has been done before.

This review was hilarious, so I immediately check the album out. I had a blast because I could hear all that Anthony was criticising and was laughing a lot, but at the same time I thoght it kicked ass.

I feel weird about this one. It was awful to my ears but very unique. I am glad that some people like it because I do genuinely want more bands to take risks and branch out.
I hate to be the "my musical intelligence is higher than yours" guy but I think a lot of it is people are basic nowadays, and don't know what they're listening to. This guy isn't the best review source, believe me.
As a long-time A7X fan, I think the album is an interesting take from them, and it's not bad, I just don't like it, if that makes sense. I don't think there's anything about it that makes it a bad album, I actually think it pulls off what it's trying to do pretty well, it's just not my kind of music. There are some songs that I don't mind, but others I can't stand. It's a very ambitious album, that's for sure, and I have a feeling they knew that some of their fans were going to hate it. They did say that their new album was going to sound nothing like their previous stuff, and I think they nailed that one. Just not what I like listening to. They sound like they've got a lot left in the tank though, and I'm curious to see what they do next and what direction they take.

This is quite possibly the goofiest, worst thing I have heard in a long time. This is so bizarrely bad it's hard to put into words but you somehow did it with this video. This was so unbelievably bad. I already didn't like their music at all my whole life but this is blowing my mind, I can't believe it's a real thing.
Album was very creative & the most ambitious album theyve dropped since City of Evil. Its borderline a masterpiece but the mix sounds amateur like a demo especially in the vocals which sound too clean & digital 90% of the time. A concept album shouldnt be this shocking & this isnt very shocking from A7X at all...if the mix sounded better it wouldnt even be questioned. It does have alot of inspirations in it from a sprinkle of the Beatles, Daft Punk, Alice in Chains, etc.
Its a modern metal infused rock opera style concept album in the vein of creativity like Genesis' A Trick of the Tail. Definitely the best album theyve dropped since City of Evil & yet its flawed...slightly cringy lyrics & vocal performances hold it back but if this were a demo, Id be super excited to hear the finished version to hail it a masterpiece...this sounds more like a leak of an unreleased album thatll never get finished. I give it a solid 8/10 though it couldve been a strong 9 or even 10.

its weird, i was on the not good train at first, gave it a few more listens and i enjoy it a lot now. It also helped seeing the songs live recently too!
Spoiler: Anthony doesn’t listen to a lot of albums. He skims through them and then posts his reviews. You can’t appreciate music that is meant to take several listens if you don’t even listen to it a single time.

The reason the album sucks is because it’s an Avenged Sevenfold album. If they wanted to stray this far from their style they should’ve scrapped the name and started something else.
Have you noticed the jump in style between Waking The Fallen and City Of Evil ? Or between Nightmare and Hail To The King ? They've always tried to do something different, I don't know why people are surprised ?

The mixing on this album is so god awful! If the mixing was up to snuff, some of these songs might have a better chance, but with everything so slap dashed together nothing really works.

Thank you for helping me keep perspective though. I did automatically think that a NOT GOOD was equitable to a 0, but I forgot that he said that it wasn't before. I would switch the Sleep Token and Avenged Sevenfold scores. The Sleep Token to me is all borrowed material with an over dramatic presentation, but at least with this album you can feel actual feelings and ideas sparsely

LIBAD is the biggest Anti climax in rock/metal history. Expected WAY more after 7 years, sounds like they threw it together in a few months or something and lack their identity sound throughout. They spat ALOT of their fans in the face and gave a big FU to fans that made them what they are today.
Most low effort take on the album. The album is a masterpiece of musical storytelling and its pure metal from the soul. Enough said.

The album grew on me so much. My first listens (Like everyone else) I did not enjoy it, I was skeptical at first about this “direction” the band was going. Casually listening to the album more on my phone or on my pc when i’m gaming or in the car, it grew the hell on me, it’s one of my favorite albums. I’d have to say my top songs in this album have to be Beautiful Morning, We Love You and (O)rdinary

People have their opinions but good lord Cosmic alone made me like this album lol that song to me is A7X's Runaway. Overall I appreciated what they did here and enjoyed that they did something new rather than just stick to the same old formula that most bands do

I love this album. Cosmic is easily one of the most gorgeous songs I’ve heard in my life. It seems to me that most of the criticism of this album is “it’s not like their other albums.” It’s very reminiscent of when City of Evil came out and was equally despised. I’m glad A7X doesn’t give a rats ass about the criticism of their albums. It makes their music more different and more beautiful.
