Kate Lott is a soprano goddess! Her superpower is not only hitting insanely high notes, but sustaining them powerfully and softly at the same time. Tiffany can also hit crazy highs!
The end of this one never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I suggest doing Disney Heroes and Villains from them next so you can hear all the guys’ voices. Especially EJ, who absolutely kills the ending. (He was standing next to Kate in this one.)

I'm so excited that you have finally found Voctave.Jamey Ray, 2nd tenor, does all of their masterful arrangements. You know a lot of say that Pentatonix are the masters of Christmas music, but for me, nobody holds a candle to Voctave when it comes to the holidays. (Btw everyone knows that Voiceplay owns Halloween.)
There are 11 people. All phenomenally talented. Villains/Heroes medley, Prince of Egypt medley, Somewhere are all wonderful.
Spectacular, aren't they? Now you have to do Disney Love Medley (featuring Kirstie from PTX) and Great Movie Medley. In that one, they do a bunch of songs from movie scores written by John Williams and honestly sound like an orchestra more than once. And, as others have said, in O Come All Ye Faithful, EJ Cardona (whom you already know) gives a performance for the ages!
I had the privilege of seeing them live last year, and they are just as impressive in person. The 5 ladies have been constants in the group for the last several years, but 2 of these guys, one tenor and one bass, have retired or left the group since and have been replaced by 2 more massively talented guys. Most work or have worked at Walt Disney World in Orlando as singers or character actors. Jamey Ray, the 2nd from the left, is their wonder-working arranger.
Can´t wait for DJ discovering their take on Poor Unfortunate Souls, mixed with I Put A Spell on You and lead singer featured by none other than Rachel Potter. And the visuals. Almost like Voctave for a moment becomes Voiceplay with bigger cast because it is very reminiscent with Voiceplay´s Little Mermaid Medley Ursula´s bit.
DJ, at last you’ve finally only just touched the surface of what Voctave can do!!! 🎉
They are a PART-TIME group as they are all professional singers in their own right. Many have sung for Disney (no surprise) and I believe most live in the Orlando, Florida area.
While I’m a Home Fry and love PTX and VP, IMHO no one can hold a candle to Voctave’s mastery of pure vocal perfection. As you rightly pointed out this is just vocals but with (now 11 voices, earlier videos they had 8 singers) the volume they can achieve when desired would suggest a full choir. Having so many singers means no need for layering in the studio they’ve got all the bases 😉 covered.
You may recognize one of the tenors, EJ Cordonna, who has been the featured artist on a couple of VP songs (brother of Omar Cardonna, who has also sung with VP), recently on I Can’t Make You Love Me.
Next up you MUST react to one of their newest videos, the Disney Heroes and Villains Medley, where each of the guys is featured. “Be prepared” to pick your jaw up all over again. 😲
After that high on the list is their Disney Love Medley feat. Kirsten Maldonado (of PTX) and her ex Jeremy Michael Lewis - another wow! Then, You Will Be Found (done during Covid), have tissues handy just in case; their latest Somewhere - AMAZING!! And, my personal fav, perhaps their best, The Prince of Egypt Medley (currently audio only but you won’t care!).
There are many others but it must be said that their Christmas music will make you grin from ear to ear, you’ll laugh and you’ll cry - but I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed. Please, PLEASE continue down this rabbit hole! 🙏

Isn’t Voctave amazing?! With their 11 members they are like the orchestra of a cappella groups. They always sound fabulous. Others have made great recommendations for follow up reactions so let me give you some other info.
Their Disney medleys sound so authentic because many of the members have sung (or are currently singing) with Voices of Liberty (and possibly other groups) at Disney World. Voctave is based out of Orlando, Florida.
EJ Cardona, who you’ve raved about when he was a featured artist with VoicePlay, is a member of Voctave. He is so good.
Voctave is a more traditional a cappella group in that they don’t have a beatboxer.
Some of their male singers have changed in the last couple of years but I think their current female singers are the same ones who have been with them for awhile. (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong).

The three Voctave videos (other than this one) that I wil ALWAYS recommend: O Come All Ye Faithful (INSANE tenor soloist), Poor Unfortunate Souls/I Put a Spell on You (ft. Rachel Potter!!), and You Will Be Found (my all-time favourite version of any song that I have currently ever heard)
I'm not ready to listen to their You Will Be Found again just yet, it reduced me to too much of a sobbing mess the last time! 😅
@@nudgificator I hear you! It does that to me LITERALLY every single time I listen to it. It's one of my go-to songs when I'm sad and need to cry (but also be uplifted by the message).
This is exactly what they sound like live. Groups like Voiceplay, Home Free and Pentatonix are professional singers. Every vocalist here is like a pro pro. Geoff, in an interview with Peter Barber, referenced Voctave’s low bass as “a monster”.
Kate is Kate, that's really all you can say 🙂 She has that effect on everyone. There's a wonderful clip of when Voctave were rehearsing with Kirsten from Pentatonix and her then-boyfriend for the Disney Love Medley (also well worth reacting to). A minute or so in, Kate hits one of her high notes and Kirsten corpses.
Agreed with some of the other comments. Next should be hearing the guys take the leads in Disney Heroes and Villains Medley. Then if you want more Kate being Kate and a feature from another favorite group, Disney Love Medley with Kirsty from Pentatonix. The wildcard (but my favorite) would be the Great Movie Medley (bonus points if you can guess the theme).
On other Disney related topics, I know I’ve requested this before, but trying again…you seem to have a soft spot for Aladdin. PLEASE react to Nick Pitera’s One Man Aladdin tribute. You will be beyond floored, I promise!

Subscribed and liked - more Voctave reactions, please! One Voctave member who must be mentioned is Jamey Ray (tenor, 2nd from the left), who created Voctave and, in addition to adding his clear beautiful tenor voice to the group does their arrangements, which are absolutely stunning. Jamey is a musical genius and deserves much credit for the way he arranges in a way that utilizes and optimizes each unique, spectacular voice in Voctave. There are many, many Voctave videos on RUclips and each and every one of them will blow you away.
Not done watching yet, but I'm so glad you finally did Voctave. Have fun going down this rabbit hole. Also, you've reacted to some Barbershop before (I think). Tony (the guy directing) is a member of Main Street and they won the gold in the Barbershop Society a few years ago. Before I even start, I'm SO glad you are giving Voctave a chance.! Now to see your reaction!! I predict you might tear up a couple times... We'll see! The second singer, Tiffany, is one of my favorites (yes, they are all spectacular). She does The Impossible Dream so well you will leave your jaw on the floor. Another spectacular performance is one of the tenors, EJ... doing O Come All Ye Faithful. IMO, the harmonies of this group are the absolute best. Period. ANYTHING you choose to hear from them will make you think you have died and gone to heaven. When I first heard one of your reactions (VoicePlay 5 months ago), lots of folks were talking about PTX, VoicePlay and Home Free. I suggested adding Voctave to your list. I love a first time intro to Voctave! One of my fave pieces of theirs. You're gonna love their Disney Love Medley with Kirstin from Pentatonix. Their Disney Heroes and Villians is fun for the guys--Drew and EJ really stand out to me in that one.

Dude, I have seen them 5 times live in concert and they sound the same. These ARE live recordings. They are all incredible singers but they do rehearse the heck out of everything. Perfection is their goal and it is achieved every time.
Voctave is PHENOMENAL! The men are just as incredible as the women. Voctave's arranger is a musical GENIUS! These women were perfect for the parts they sang.
But I have to mention Kate Lott. Her high notes are other-worldly. I've heard more than one opera singer marvel at her high notes and state how difficult it is to then hold those high note for such a long time with unwavering clarity. But I haven't seen anybody mention that those high note can pierce through anything else being sung. Yet, Kate has mastered being able to sing those notes at just the right volume to be an accent to the song without overpowering the group or the soloist. That just adds a whole new level of difficulty.
You should consider reacting to their Disney Love Songs with Kirstin Maldonado from Pentatonix and Jeremy Michael Lewis. Though any song by Voctave will be impressive. Great Reaction, the first of yours' I've seen.

I've heard their stuff a few times when it's come up on Spotify for me but I've never searched their stuff out, but that's about to change. Holy smokes that was incredible. Makes me miss singing in school choirs. Plus you can tell who leads/conducts normally as he gave lots of signals here, loved watching it.

Welcome to one of very best of the very best acapella groups in the world (Voces8 and the King's Singers are also in their league). As others have said, they are all studio professionals so it's not surprising that they don't need much rehearsal at all. They get together, do a run through and then they're ready to go. I've seen them in concert several times and they are just as good, if not better, live. The gentleman standing second from the far left is Jamey Ray who, in addition to being a wonderful tenor, is also the founder of the group and the arranger of ALL of their pieces. He writes specifically to show off each of his members' greatest talents and he has over five octaves (hence the name, "V octave" or Voctave) to work with, ranging from a basso profoundo all the way up to the first gal who sang, Kate Lott, a stratospheric coloratura soprano.
I have been waiting on the edge of my seat for you to find this group and you did not disappoint! They are part of the big 4 in the acapella RUclips world IMO and they never disappoint either. I hope you do many many more from them. You're right, no beatboxing here but with a "full orchestra" which is the sound they create with their style, they don't need it and it keeps them unique. They definitely deserve more reviews from you and they have some holiday hits that I can't wait to listen to with you. You have more jaw-dropping moments coming your way, sir!

It features Kristen Maldonado (from Pentatonix) and her then beau Jeremy (from the University of Kentucky Acoustikats debuting on the SingOff). It's where we first heard Kate and fell in love with a Florida group of Voices of Liberty singers from one of the Orlando theme parks--called Voctave...
Enjoyed your reaction. There have been som personnel changes in Voctave but it was 2 guys leaving and 2 replacing them. The ladies have stayed consistent. I would listen to the Disney Heroes and Villains medley to hear all the guys. Then their newest video is Somewhere from West Side Story where everyone is featured briefly.

What are whistle tones for most singers, that is Kate Lott's range!! Sometimes they are reached in a crescendo with the other singers and all you hear is the ring of the echo of those notes. All these singers could be soloists, but finding work is the problem. Our society doesn't reward for talent alone, or Kate would have her own tours. But we reward pretty and sexy over talent a lot of times. It is an imperfect system in an imperfect world.
I was so happy you noticed the talent and pointed it out. Myself I can never get through a session listening to them and especially Kate, that I'm not crying, like right now. So let'er rip and enjoy the full value of your emotions.

Wow! What a great reaction, and yes they are that good. As many others have said they have that classic Disney sound because they have all worked at one time or another at Walt Disney World in Orlando.
Their phenomenal arranger, Jamey Ray, is now a music professor at Rollins College on the North Side of Orlando. In interviews he’s said he doesn’t arrange for parts like alto, tenor or bass, but he knows the range of each of the members and he writes their part to suit their voice.

I believe she has a Master’s in Operatic Vocal Performance, so it’s not all just talent, her voice is a well trained and tuned instrument.
Tiffany has been at Disney the longest, since the 80s, and is the epitome of a singers singer. Her voice is also incredible, (watch All Is Well

Ashley has a powerful voice and wide range. Her voice is so smooth it’s like butter. She has been featured in several of their videos but my favorite was release in Nov 2021 feat her and her son Gael as they sing Where Are You Christmas?

Crystal has a voice of pure velvet. She’s also got a background in gospel music singing with the Gaithers and other notable Christian artists. She could easily have a very successful solo career. Her rendition & my favorite version of Grown-up Christmas List

This song is why I don’t call them an a cappella group, they are a vocal orchestra. Listen and you will see what I mean. Jamey took the orchestral scores from 10 movies and they sing them, with only one of them having words! Believe me you won’t believe it until you see it with your own eyes.

Please react to Voctave's "Disney Heroes & Villains Medley" for solos from all 6 Voctave men, and "Somewhere" (from "West Side Story") for solos from all 11 members (11 phrases, 11 solos). "Prince of Egypt Medley" may be their best work to date.

If you want to hear how Voctave sounds live, there is a version of the Impossible Dream they preform live with a choir and chorus. There is another version they do in the studio. If you ever react to Disney Love Medley with Kirstin from PTX and her ex-fiancé, there is a video of them practicing before hand. You can head Kate hitting a whistle note and both Kirstin and Jeremy being shocked. You can easily find it if you search Voctave Kirstin. You might add it to the video reaction if you ever react to Disney Love Medley.
It's the same ladies. Over time a couple of the men have left and a couple joined. They are all from Walt Disney World. Some are part of the Main Street and Barbershop quartet, others are part of the Voices Of Liberty that perform daily at EPCOT World Pavillion America. Kate Lott the high high soprano is a big part of Voices of Liberty. Jamey Rey is a Tenor and the one who founded the group and he does all the arrangements. Oh and yes, they pretty much plan, walk in and record in studio. Some things have production but most is natural and that is born out when you see them live. You should definitely do a deep dive on them. I recommend their recording of Prince Of Egypt medley.
Mind and heart blowing: Voctave featuring Mark Lowrey, who authored the lyrics, perform "Mary Did You Know". Various a capella groups cover this but they pale in comparison to Voctave & Mark.

The ladies haven’t changed since the group started as a professional group but there have been a few changes with the guys during the pandemic years. Tony DeRosa (tenor) left and Drew Ochoa replaced him, and one of the basses (Geoff) left. They have a ton of fun numbers to check out. Enjoy!!

Hey King! Okay so I love your reaction! Voctave is truly incredible. At Disney World, you can see some of the members perform in a group called Voices of Liberty at Epcot! They also perform a capella. Look them up! But did you not know they made an entirely new Little Mermaid movie?? Halle Bailey playing Ariel gorgeously singing Part of Your World?? Under the Sea being a feast for the eyes?? The added songs like For the First Time???

While I do enjoy other acapella groups, I honestly do feel like Voctave is my absolute favorite (and I don't think it hurts that I've actually grown up listening to most of them whenever I've visited Walt Disney World in the past and present as most members of Voctave sung in the Voices of Liberty group you can find in the American Pavilion in Epcot).

First, thank you for being British and still getting the pronunciation right. It's VOK tiv, not vok TAYV. It's a little thing, but I can be really upright about pronunciation issues. (Most Britons will try to rhyme Voctave with the British pronunciation of octave, which is not the usual American pronunciation.)
There is absolutely nothing that Voctave has done which is not worthy of a reaction. Whether you focus on Tiffany ("The Impossible Dream" or "O Holy Night'), E. j. ("O Come, All Ye Faithful'), the basses ("You're A Mean One, Mister Grinch") or Kate blowing the roof of all of their songs, you'll find something special in all of them. Their most recent release, "Somewhere", gives all eleven members of the group a moment in the spotlight (two of the men are different than the men here, but since this was all about the princesses, it will be much less of a shock). The Disney Love Medley (featuring Kirstin from Pentatonix) is amazing; Kate's penultimate note is a dissonant F#6 (!!) before dropping down to an F6 for the resolution. It's not her highest note, but it's close.
