Being a teenager in the 80's was amazing. I remember seeing Metallica a dozen times during the 80's and early 90's and I remember being at Cliff's second gig and I was amazed that he played this..this insane bass solo. I'll never forget waiting in line at the record store to buy this amazing debut album.
i grew up listening to these guys and i think they were the most amazing band. i liked megadeath, anthrax, pentera ( which is the only band i would rival to Metallica) but these guys were the perfect representatives of metal for me.
So do I. I remember one day my mom came home and said I know you really like Metallica. I did not see this one in your collection. So I got it for you. Holy shit that was a awesome cool moment with my mom. She even listened to it with me. I had never heard any of it before. We were both blown away by this track. My Mom is the best.
DobermansRock that's awesome, sounds like you have a great mom, mine was the opposite, can't even count the number of copies I had to replace....... fucking Christians.... damn Jehovah's witnesses.......
This is one of the first songs I learned to play on the bass that opened new facets of the instrument to me. 15 years later, it brings back so many fond memories of better times. Thanks Cliff. You are missed. RIP.
This guy was amazing. Cliff's solos were just fucking incredible, and nobody could ever duplicate his style. This is by far my favorite, it gives me chills every time.
ZZGTAV RANDOMSZZ I specifically pointed out "old grumps" who "hate heavy metal," I wasn't just calling all old grumps "metal haters." I can definitely agree with you on the fact that most people who are in their 30's & 40's now love/loved this stuff just as much as I do.
its been seventeen years since i first heard this and it still had the same kick it did back then. Makes me remember friends long passed. But today at least, it still kicks arse.
Always makes me feel good to hear such raw shit ! Every note is one of his twisted emotions . I made sure my kids listened to it . They didn't believe it was a Bass making that music !
Josh Traffanstedt Justice was written by cliff really when metallica lost all material written by other people they sucked by that i mean burton and mustaine
Cliff Burton... a true virtuoso, arguably the best ever... I mean.. change was inevitable... how do you improve on that? Of course they're going to sound different.
FccRuinedAmerica andtheentireworld agreed it can’t be a coincidence that their music turned soft and boring after Dave was kicked out and cliff died I really wished cliff would of survived
This is the reason I started playing bass. I wanted to be like Cliff. Problem is: I CAN'T BE LIKE CLIFF. No one can. CLiff is the only one who can be like Cliff. RIP Cliff.
Nina Gołąb he is more creative by creative I don't mean relivant because cliff is a legond but Rob can do all sorts of things and can create a bigger fan bass by attracting everyone's taste in music
It's a bass SOLO. It's a display of his virtuoso skill. He played regular fucking bass lines in the lower end of a bass guitar's frequency on a lot of Metallica's songs. This was something he wanted to do to show what he could do besides play a basic bass line.
This guy WOULD be saying Cliff is over-rated, how is he over-rated if he hasn't even made a lot of music, just a few kick ass ones, some people should just keep things to themselves ;)
It's only ignorance that makes people look down on bassist, I'd like to make an album of really popular songs with all the bass parts taken out so people can see what they have been taking for granted.
@DaemonicNimrod i agree with ya metallica is my favorite band and after i heard this solo all i said was if anyone says cliff burton was never a good bass player obviously never his bass solo *sighs.... real dam shame the best bass player i've ever heard had to be killed i jus think to myself wat did he ever do that bad to deserve death and his career be taken away to....but all we can do is enjoy his solo and let him R.I.P kinda makes me wanna cry fer him
Cliff forever alive in spirit. All time best bass solo hands fucking down. *Legends never leave the bus! Rest easy man & I will alwayz MISS Ur talent. Your long hair made it Metallica 💯💯💯💯💯👊❤❤❤
I'm hoping the 33 dislikes are only because they can't see the video of this bass god ripping shit up. It is a crying shame that this man is not held in the same breath as all the other greats that were lost......Hendrix, Vaughan, Allman.....? He may be a bassist in some eyes, but he ranks up there with the great frontmen.
@27682728: Electro-Harmonix Big Muff, I believe the Russian model. The green box currently made by Electro-Harmonix the "Big Muff Bass Pi" - does a good job at reproducing his tone. He also used a Morley Power Wah Boost wah pedal, which was discontinued a while ago. Just experiment with different sounds and you'll get pretty close...
Metallica has not sold out. They got a little softer after Justice. That doesn't mean they sold out. It was actully an impressive move that they did, going from songs like One to songs like Mama Said. It just shows how diverse they are which is importent in music. Then they did shows like S&M. This shows how diverse they are. Then St Anger but it still showed them getting back to their roots. Now Death Magnetic had showed what they can do back in the thrash metal genre. Diversity=not selling out
@bigvicflange Third, Mom?? ma man, not every kid like u return back to his mom :) or ask his mom for some naughty bad boy words. beside, lets tell my mom ^_^ that would be fun ^_^ Finally, music school maybe? if u dont wanna be hardcore, then learn instrument. @bigvicflange wut are u swearing and cursing about? lol yes, if ur sayin this bass solo is something then u have no idea bout music....period. and i didnt even say the solo is like horrible, tis not skilled at ALL and anyone can play it. i can teach anyone to play skillful stuff than this in a matter of week so tell me, i shall go buy a Camera to record him, waste my time and upload just to prove a point?
Cliff isnt actually dead, he's just giving God bass lessons.
MisterMcMonster kinda tricky to give himself a lesson isnt it?
James Fakeri It is.
\m/ cliff is, hanging out with all the Masters!!!
British Kid holy hell
What fucking god?
Lyrics: Bass solo
Take: One
Because a take 2 is just silly bullshit.
GoredonTheDestroyer thank you so much
...nuff said.
Cliff Burton on bass
Clive Burr on drums
Randy Rhoads on guitar
Ronnie James Dio on vocals.
best band ever in the afterlife.
I would say I'd rather have Mikkey Dee in that band, but NOT in this case. I'd rather keep him down here with the living as long as possible.
And Dimebag as lead guitarist
edh9999 more like vinnie paul on drums
edh9999 dimebag darrel anyone?
why not dimebag on guitar? Or.. lead guitar?

+Josh Traffanstedt Still can't beat the creators of thrash
Wow, I'm so jealous haha. I was only born in 1996 lol
Lucky you!

i wonder what it would be like to hear Cliff Burton and Randy Rhoades having a jam session together
Charles West how about let all of the guitar and bass gods shred together! That would be fun
My fuck what a perfect question. My answer is (FUCKING EPIC)
I would need my plastic undies for that!
@@paulbishop7399 Haha
New science discovery- The cause of thunderstorms: Cliff playing this song in heaven.
Why did you put Newsted's picture on a song played by Cliff Burton?
yea that was a bit retarded
@@tuckdaman1185 thank you! fuck kids are dumb
Tuckdaman11 are u kidding me ?? Thats Newsted not Cliff....
That’s Jason. Cliff was much taller. Cliff was 6’2 and James was 6’1, so Cliff was taller than James.
TheBassGuy05 thats jason but cliffs height is actually 5 11 period.
There is no such thing as thunder, just Cliff playing his bass.
Brennan Chaudhry hes just bass shredding again along with lemmy

Nels Soarez kinda weird huh? you'd expect We'd have another one like cliff, but none can't compare.
28 years ago dude, i wish i was alive to witness this sheer awesomeness live . If you were around today i would be headbanging front row
This is one of the first songs I learned to play on the bass that opened new facets of the instrument to me. 15 years later, it brings back so many fond memories of better times. Thanks Cliff. You are missed. RIP.
damn, imagine all the solos cliff could have done, hadn't he died D:

when you deal at the cross roads every band looses a member ......look at all the greats
Cliff Burton cannot Rest in Peace. Hes playing to God all the time
Who in the HELL would Thumbs Down this???!! O_O
Old grumps who hate heavy metal.
Armybear 343 Actually, the 50+ year olds, who rocked the 80's in their 20's can't hate this...

I am an old Grump but i love it lol
Hahaha!
Cliff Burton was 21 years old when he recorded Anesthesia.
thats crazy young .
+Francisco Neira and to think the first version of it he was even younger before he was even in metallica and in that other group
Absolutely true !
What da fuq was I doing at 21?
He was 14 when he wrote this.

He was a great musician!!
RIP: Cliff Burton Thank you for making Metallica stay alive☺️😌
when cliffy died metallica changed and not for the better...
they were good. I liked the black album, but it went in an entire different direction. justice was their best album, musically.
