Let's make the most delicious Cottage Cheese Protein Pancakes I’ve been making on repeat. These pancakes are a fantastic and versatile way to incorporate more protein into your breakfast routine, but they’re also great for lunch, dinner, or an afternoon snack. Unlike protein powder pancakes, these pancakes have a silky, custardy texture and a neutral flavor that pairs well with a variety of toppings.
These pancakes are super easy to make. You just need to blend cottage cheese, egg, milk, flour, baking powder, and salt to create the pancake batter. Then, griddle them up until they’re golden brown and eat right away or store them for later.
I hope you love them!
Hey! Thanks for watching!
I'm Paula. I'm a former professional cook and overall eating enthusiast.
I started this channel because I love making dinner and I love eating dinner.. but mostly it's because all I've ever wanted in life is to have my own cooking show. When I didn't get a callback after submitting my tape to Food Network in 2003, I put that dream to rest for a while. Until I clued in, I can do it myself on RUclips!
I love sharing the tips I've learned from professional kitchens and tidbits from my holistic nutrition education. But mostly I just want to show you how to make dinner. (See what I did there?) 😄
My cooking style is simple but flavourful. I cook with a lot of veggies but I'm not vegetarian. For me, a typical dinner is plant-forward, budget-friendly, non-fussy, and really delicious. As a step-mom, I make a lot of family-friendly comfort food, as well as a lot of simple, realistic dinners for one (or two).

For anyone wanting the recipe, here it is: :)
1 cups cottage cheese
1 egg.
1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cups milk or alt milk
1/2 tsp Oil or butter for greasing the griddle optional if using a non-stick griddle
seems legit
Instead of flour , I use oats and comes out tasty
Me too! More protein.
INGREDIENTS
250 g (1 c.) cottage cheese
1 egg
70 g (1/2 c.) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
60 ml (1/4 c.)milk or alt milk
1/2 tsp Oil or butter for greasing the griddleoptional if using a non-stick griddle
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine cottage cheese, egg, and milk in a large measuring jug or blender.
Blend until smooth, using a stick blender or regular blender.
Add the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to over mix.
Allow the pancake batter to rest for 5-10 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat a nonstick griddle to 325F.
Lightly grease the griddle (optional), and scoop the pancake batter onto the griddle. If using a 1/2 cup measuring cup as a scoop, you should end up with 4 large pancakes.
Allow the pancakes to cook on the first side until bubbles form on the surface-approximately 5 minutes.
Flip the pancakes, and cook for another 3-5 minutes or until cooked through and golden brown on both sides.
Notes: can use, bananas, pumpkin, shredded zucchini, ground oatmeal or almond flour, etc.
Thank you!
I bet mixing in some shredded zucchini would be good for a savory pancake.
I will definitely try these. I really like the fact that they can be used in both savory and sweet recipes. I also really appreciate the idea that you'll be doing versatile recipes like this in the future. I think we're all at the point where we want to use up what is in the fridge, don't want to waste, but still want delicious meals.
aw, those are russian syrniki!
Whoa really? I will look them up!
Oh! I haven't had a cottage cheese pancake in ages. Sounds delightful! Hmmm..now I"m thinking of combining with your savoury waffle recipe and adding spinach and a bit of parm. 😎
I'm going to try with protein powder and half a banana. Thanks for sharing this!
Hi, it looks like there’s a bug in the recipe page right now. I’ll check back later. I can’t wait to get the proportions to try this out!
💖Yum I love cottage cheese pancakes. One of my food mottos is 'anything can be made into pancakes' cuz I put all kinds of leftovers, especially when I'm tired of them, into pancakes. Often make them kinda Asian inspired. I don't even bother with a blender, I just whisk real well.
Wow, that looks awesome! I love cottage cheese and of course pancakes, so I will be trying this recipe. Thank you! ❤👍🏾💪🏾
The link is for the cottage cheese frittata. Just an FYI. I'm making these pancakes and did find the recipe on your blog. Thanks!
Oh whoops! Thank you!
If you eat meat for breakfast you can go until dinner, never mind lunch.
Thanks . I’ll try with coconut or almond flour
Did you try it with the Coco or almond flours? Curious if it worked before I try it.
@@kayedarbee334 I'm curious too. I was thinking Keto Chow base mix might work instead of flour. I love this idea though of protein pancakes.
Delicious. Tastes exactly like Russian oladyi but with more protein.
I made waffles today using a very similar recipe from a Mennonite cookbook I bought in the 1980s. They were called High Protein Waffles. They turn out soft and fluffy, and few survive the first sitting but if some do they freeze well. Thanks!
Do you mind sharing the recipe for the waffles?
@@Lotuspriestess Here it is:
1 cup cream style cottage cheese
4 eggs
1/2 cup flour (plain, not self-raising, could be whole meal)
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp oil
0.5 cup milk (but I use 1/4 cup of whipping cream)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Whirl at high speed in a blender for 1 minute to mix.
Makes about 6 waffles.
I usually double the batch. The high egg content makes them softer than regular waffles. Recipe comment says, "As waffles these are good warmed over in the toaster in case any survive the first round." I freeze any leftovers, they freeze well.
Tried to bring up the recipe link. It's not working, says 'fatal error'. How do I find the recipe with exact measurements of these pancakes.
These look delicious!!! THANKS for sharing the recipe!!!
Will definitely try these. In the US there’s a brand good culture cottage cheese, has live and active cultures, tastes great. Yes, pancakes freeze well. (This past fall I tried pumpkin pancakes, delicious.)
Ooh pumpkin pancakes. Yum.
I love Good Culture, a recent discover for me, the regular one with sea salt is amazing!
My second view. Awesome and thank you from USA.
Love the non sweet cottage cheese idea, been hugely into it myself lately, I used to love it with just some halved grapes for a breakfast snack. I used to make Nigella Lawson's ricotta pancakes with lemon zest, they were so airy and custardy, but cottage cheese is cheaper haha so I will try that next!!
Yes! Same idea! These are great with a bit of sugar, lemon zest, and vanilla too!
I was reminded of that recipe as well. You are right cottage cheese is such a more affordable option. I’m going to try using oat flour as a binder. This is a great recipe.
Sounds good, will read your recipe link--although it would be great if you mentioned how much of the ingredients on your video. Thanks.
Looks great! Going to try this plant-based as I have a family history of Cancer so need to avoid the estrogen and possible BLV in dairy and choline and lead in eggs. Thank you for sharing
I wish there was a video with just the recipe
Been feeling very uninspired when it comes to breakfast lately. Will definitely try these! Hope you're well ❤
Yay! Yes I’m good. Same to you!
I know what I will have for breakfast tomorrow!
Your great
Just get to the recipe please
Thanks a lot, amazing recipe. ❤❤❤
So glad you like it!!
The link to the recipe isn't working :(
Do not use regular flour! Use oatmeal...I grind mine in my coffee grinder!
oats cause inflammation, not good id you have arthritis or RA.
I have listen to a lot of vlogs about cottage and egg. For some reason yours sounds promising and edible. I will give this recipe a try. Thank you for vlog! I think it’s your honest down home presentation. Happy 4th 🎉
I do the ultra lazy version of this and just literally add cottage cheese to pancake mix along with the milk 😁
Sees Magic Baking Powder.
Identifies the Canadian.
😄
Love the savory idea!
I very unsure about the texture… i don‘t know if they are done or not.
They do keep a bit of a custardy texture inside when fully cooked!
@@HowToMakeDinner okay, tyanks!
As she said, this is not aimed at health.
Excellent recipe, thank youuuu🙏🏼🙏🏼
Get with real measurements
I get that!😅
You said, "... so this is how I make my protein pancakes..." Then you don't give the measurement amounts for it? Instead you ask us to go to YOUR Blog. 😮 I didn't except that. It would have been much more respectful to the viewership "here" to actually show your full-on recipe without tricking them to go to your other Blog site. Isn't that 🤔 Clickbait? Click another link 🧐... Not Happening.
Your video shows 2 eggs
Yep. I think video was showing double batch tho
Grams are accurate
Haha I am a gram gal through & through but most of my viewers are based in the US and get mad at me for using grams. In the written recipes, I try to include both.
I will ad NO MILK and NO FLOUR instead just use ALMOND FLOUR much better for you also bananas and egg mixture makes for good pancakes
Add?
Many many words for nothing, no proportions at all presenting a recipe(!) - qnd the stickiest toaster ever presented on RUclips ... 🤢
If that’s how you feel, I’ll remember not to invite you over next time.
If you don’t like the talking, don’t watch it and no need to say anything. No one was forcing you to watch. What’s your RUclips channel called?
When in America - please kindly use "cups" along with, or instead of "grams" in your recipes. Thank you.
Hi! I added the cup measurements: howtomakedinner.com/blog/cottage-cheese-protein-pancakes-no-protein-powder/
Figure it out. Oh ya a fellow American can't.
The internet is not in Murica. 🤡
Get over it. Plenty of people use metric measurements, especially with baking. Oh and, guess what? I use 24-hour time on my watch and digital clocks! *gasp*
Dry ingredients are often measured in weights (hence grams) rather than volume (as in cups).
So true i did an experiment and on my log the day I had 8 oz of protein and broccoli and 2 protein bar for the whole day and absolutely wasn't hungry for the whole day
