She probably just built that residue up that day or week! That's how hard she plays! But as far as "fiddlers not cleaning their instruments," she's not even close to one of the "bad" ones. She actually keeps it pretty clean. Not to mention she has some classical training or at least classical touches to her playing. She even calls the instrument a violin from time to time! Lol
Iris Hanlin You'll not be disappointed. My wife and I caught her in Kilmarnock, Virginia a couple years ago. It was just a school auditorium, but she made it ring!
She is such a great fiddler, and I love her Cape Breton style of playing......Does anyone know the names of the tunes she is playing in this set? Thanks!
First is Professor Blackie, by Scott Skinner. Second is Da Guisers March (March of the disguisers or those in costume), a Shetland Tune by Gideon Stove. I do not know the others.
She plays beautifully. And that is the most rosin residue I have ever seen on a fiddle.

Hillfiddler, Thanks very much......Those two lead-in tunes are just great. Now I can take a stab at them myself. Cheers!
The very last reel in E major is called "Hull's reel"
Sounds like more people talking than listening. Too bad. They don’t know what beautiful music they really missed!
a lot like life.
It's a huge event. And perhaps they're talking about the tunes?
