I watched this video a while ago, and I remember how excited you were about your obovata getting a new leaf and relating to your obovata struggle. My hoya after 6 months finally has new growth today!!!!
You are definitely one of my favorite people to watch plant-wise. ❤️ I find myself rewatching your videos over and over. Thanks for the entertaining and helpful content!
I discovered you a couple days ago and I have to say your videos have brought me so much, much needed joy. I just wanted you to know you have a great channel and an even better personality I definatly love your vibe. Thank you for making these videos you've made me smile alot in these pretty depressing times.♡♡
Newbie plant owner here, I’ve been binging houseplant RUclips videos the last couple of days. Just discovered your channel and I must say I love your personality! I’m super excited and looking forward to watching your videos and following your channel! 💚
I love that you give us little history lessons behind the plants you are talking about. I think that is super interesting and so different from most other plant RUclipsrs.
Okay. So I was watching this while drying my hair before work, and after your talk of variegation, I took the plunge and cut an entire stem of my Hoya. It was a beautiful, creeping stem with new growth but was pure green with no variegation. I cut it off, stuck it in some water, and headed out the door for work so I wouldn’t have to look at my cropped Hoya.
You are baaaack! Weee this was so much fun! But now I crave moooore vids! I think I need to go to Betsy-rehab! Haha :) Have a nice week and look forward to see more vids soon! :D
Gosh! i love vour chanel! came across it like 2 weeks ago, because i´m kinda obsessed with BEGONIA MACULATA and you have content about begonias :) keep up the good, entertaining work, betsy ! :) greetins from germany

Found your channel and can’t wait to learn about these cute plants. Love that you’re so energetic 🤗🤗 going to binge on some videos now need to Iearn how to take care of my new babies.

You are hilarious and your videos are wildly informative, thank you!! Episode idea for you! Backstory: I live in central Florida (near Disney, a smidge tropical), so I have some difficulty with outdoor plants on my east facing patio due to the extreme heat/flooding storm combinations we get, which last from now through September, so I tend to do alot of moving around of my plants, although my orchid hangs in there oddly well left outdoors completely untouched. Inddors I dont have any windows other than the east facing windows, and because its an older building, I keep a dehumidifyer running 24/7 in my bedroom, where my pothos and snake plant grow, so that should give you a good idea of the conditions... and I'm looking into getting small bookshelf grow lights (hunting for them the size of christmas lights) to allow a little more flexibility. EITHER WAY! I'd love to see an episode of what plants you would grow indoor or outdoor if you lived in Florida or a tropical climate in general.
Hej, Love your videos and just wanted to say, that it’s so nice to have a planttuber from Europe because of the climate and how the plants react to it :) kisses from Germany 😘
Your living room is GORGEOUS! Perfect balance between "plant hoarder" and "normal person" 😂 at the very least, you're keeping up appearances 😉 Also I love those teensy little pots! I have a little haworthia in a 2" and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen ❤
Lol! Betsy I just love you, I totally loved this video, you make me laugh right out loud and that is a good thing. You truly have a beautiful collection of hoya. I love seeing your new living space, there seems to be more light, or maybe it's just me. And that cat tree is ginormous, haha. Thanks for sharing it has been awhile and I have missed you. I love the idea of a Q & A. Take care and see you again, bye for now.
OH MY GOD! I just received today a Begonia as part of my plant mail and I wasn't sure what it was and it turns out to be B.aconitifolia 'Hildegard Schneider' I am so happy I now know what begonia I have. However, mine was a bit neglected so I am crossing my everything for a recovery! Thank you for unknowingly identifying my begonia! :)

@@betsybegonia Please watch the video I will upload today in couple of hours! There I talk about you and how you inspired me to fell in love with these plants.
Yay glad to see a new video from you! Oddly enough I think the Hoya linearis is what made me interested in Hoya in the first place haha I'm sorry all your new plants are having a hard time. Here's hoping that they get better soon!
I love your hoya videos! I am a confessed Hoya-Head but without the knowledge. I've had a hoya growing in the same huge terra cotta pot outside (California) for about 15 years. It's spread out 15 feet in every direction along a wrought iron fence, and it continues to bloom profusely. I just subbed; thanks for the tips.
Thank you for a down to earth, educational and fun video. I really missed seeing the little blue dot notifying me of a new BB video. Today I was oh so excited to have a visit from you to indulge in!
really hoping I had wine nearby while watching this. 🥂Currently spiraling down the hoya rabbit hole because of you (and that hoya lady summer rayne interviewed)😅
I love the live Q & A idea!! And I have questions, lol. One, what's that in your rooting bags? Just some perlite and a little water? And what kind of soil mixture do you suggest for Hoyas? Especially zee bebes! I'm rooting some right now and I need some tips, mama!
I’m so glad you talked about your Hoya Obovata. Mine is so funky and sooo slow growing. I hope it puts out a new leaf soon that would be great! Do you suggest another Hoya that has similar leaf shape that grows a bit quicker than the Obovata? Thank you for your videos!
Since they have such huge thick leaves, they really do grow a bit slower. Hoya fungii seems to grow real fast and has big thin leaves, though. Mine is doing really well!
I just bought my first Hoya a couple hours ago... I found a Hoya carnosa tricolor for pretty cheap to what I’m seeing online! Thank you for making me more likely to keep it alive!
Natural scents make all the difference in the world! I used to hate rose perfume until I smelt the essential oil and now I'm head over heels for all scented roses.
I’m was born in Fiji.❣️you should visit and you’ll love it ..it’s beautiful there. I heard if you have cuttings in colorful vase/bottle rather then clear they root faster:)
You turned me into a hoya person! I initially thought they were just meh, but then I got my first Hoya Krimson Princess because hoyas were so popular on youtube. It brought me so much joy to look at its glossy leaves and nice pink growth! Since then, I've gotten another Hoya carnosa, compacta, krinkle 8, obovata, and curtsii 😊
Hoyamygosh, but I've missed you. My hoya collection has grown by leaps and bounds. I now have 21. Yay. They're so easy to care for and beautiful. I'm going to try the ziplock bag technique. Glad you've settled in. Your place looks great. Tour soon, k? Much love and many blessings.
Hi Betsy! How are you? Thank you for sharing the way you root Hoya cuttings. I have only used water propagation. It works but takes a long, long time. I will try your perlite terrariums next time I try to root a new Hoya cutting. I do not see many Hoyas by me. I have bought Carnosas before, but that is about all we get. I saw a Hoya DS70 today at Lowe's. It didn't look all that healthy, so I did not buy it. OK, hope you enjoy the rest of your night. Gerry 😎
I am really well, thank you for asking. It's nice to hear from you. 🙂 I'm glad you didn't buy it if it wasn't healthy. Sometimes you have to pass up on being a Hoya healer!
Another interesting video! I hope your baby hoya's grow up to be humungous!! Make sure your live Q and A isn't past us Brits bed time! All the best! - Martin
Betsy! I love your videos!!! You are my fave!!! When I grow up, I wish I could be you! I was wandering, so you have a recommendation on books or material to read, I have been unsuccessfully been looking.
Botany in a Day is a good one if you're generally interested in plants and identification. Otherwise, I'm simply an avid Googler that dives deep into forums.
Remember me telling you about my hoya bella? well. I have since expanded and bought my second and third Hoyas. I now have 3. I now have not just the hoya bella, which is growing like crazy. It’s grown a brand new vine that’s almost a foot long in the space of 3-4 weeks, but I now also have a hoya pubicalyx and I should be receiving my hoya Australis by today. I can’t wait!!!
Betsy Begonia I cant wait for my blooms! My bedroom window is south facing and my plants seem to do super well. I also have some really unconventional houseplants. They’re plants meant for the garden but they do really well in my room. I have a Mirabilis Jalapa plant. I also have some seed grown plants. My lemon tree to nane one!
Your reaction to your hoya obovata is the same one I had when iIdiscovered my hoya kerri leaf actually started growing a plant! it has 3 new leaves this year after TWO years of just being 1 heart in dirt :)
I love these videos, makes me wish I were there to chat. Live Q&A is such a good idea! I’m trying to decide on plants which do well in hanging pots (besides pothos), and I was wondering if you knew of any? Preferably any plant that can survive a frost (by dying back to a root ball or something), but not necessarily.
Betsy Begonia That makes sense! I’ll do a little more research. Thank you! For now my plan will be to hang pothos and move them out of the sunroom and into a better-heated room for the winter, but I’ll research ivy more!
The new place looks awesome! I wish my Alocasia amazonica looked as good as yours does. I will eventually, it's very tiny right now. It needs time to grow and I'm impatient. LOL
That Gunung Gading is so freakin BEAUTIFUL. I found a cutting on ebay recently but it went for $96, not including shipping, by the time the auction was over. =O I hope to get my hands on one in the future!

Your place looks great! I always enjoy hearing about Hoyas, especially because you have such a variety and always include background. So I have two, H. Carnosa green variety w/ 3 variegated leaves (?) and H. Fitchii, my absolute favorite plant! I wanted to add Lacunosa because I heard the flowers smell like cinnamon, but after your description I'm not so sure - old lady perfume, LOL! Really???
Hi Betsy! I'm so glad you're back! I really missed you. I would love it if you did a Q&A video, but it wouldn't have to be live. I'm afraid I would miss the live one. I could sit here and listen to you for hours. You are always so funny and so much fun. Love your spunk. Those are really nice Hoyas that you showed us. I'm going to try your "terrarium bag" trick. Oh, when my sister gave me some Hoya starts she said they they needed to be put in something where the light wouldn't reach the stems and roots, so I put them in a green bottle and wrapped it with aluminum foil and put it in a window. LOL! Apparently that was the wrong advice? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It's nice seeing you so happy. Your new apartment looks very nice. I'm glad you're settled in and hoping we get more videos ..... hint hint. 😊 Thanks for being you and for sharing!
I have the best luck with a clear glass. I am currently trying to root a Begonia and a carnosa in a totally opaque cup and they aren't doing much compared to others.

I wanted to add Lacunosa because I heard the flowers smell like cinnamon, but after your description I'm not so sure - old lady perfume, LOL! Really???
The saddest part about lacunosa is how quick the flowers fall off. They only last a day or so, and the smell is really only pungent at night.
Girl, you’re my favorite!
A live q&a would be great! I really look forward to it 😊
Loved the video! At 8 1/2 months preggo, couldn't join you with wine, but I did join you with 2 cupcakes. 🧁🧁
Drink another glass on my behalf. 😋
I would love to see you do a live Q&A!
I been waiting forever for a new video!!! Your amazing!!! I tell and recommend everyone to your channel!! Wish I was closer so I could of came to the swap or trade with you. More videos please lol
Aww that is so nice. Thank you.
Where did you get your cat tree? I love it!
You're il Lille? Cool! I'm half way between Brussels and Antwerp, so we're practically neighbours 😂
I don't have any Hoyas yet, for some reason I always thought they were tempermental and divas... but thanks to you, I may get some! 😁 Just a couple... dozens... maybe... 🤣
🌈🌞Come back please!!!!
Hope you and family are well.
Missing you 💚😘
oh oh now I want -I need - hoya borneo gunung gading! So beautiful 💕💕💕💕 and a glass of wine but I’ll wait until Friday for my husband’s birthday 😊. Thank you so much for this awesome video
Everything in moderation. 😂
The new leaf excitement is always me!
I did not see that coming, I am amazed.
Yay!!! I missed your videos.
💚 I hope to be back to a regular schedule soon. 🙂
Betsy Begonia it gave me an excuse to rewatch some of your old videos
Would love a q/a video from you! I just dipped my toes into Hoya so far after thinking for some time that I didn’t have the right conditions for them. What would you say are three easy beginner Hoya to start with?
Hoya carnosa and australis are excellent beginner plants since they grow so fast and they're super easy care.
You’re lit, but delightful today. :)
