You're a flower farm, so you should go crazy ordering in bulbs! Only God knows what will be for next year. You have to be prepared in order to have enough flowers for those gorgeous bouquets. Many people may not understand that you have to plant 30% more than you anticipate needing because not all will perform and be okay for the bouquet that you sell. Don't forget the bone meal when you plant those spring bulbs. Your flowers will thank you with better stems! Love you guys.

Its so interesting how different is our taste or our countries taste in colours. (Im in Hungary, Eu.)
I ordered 30.000 bulbs, coz i'm a florist farmer who does weddings, and i sell the rest in my bulb webshop. I can only sell in cream/blush/soft pink and soft salmon, apricot colours. Even the stronger pinks wouldn't sell.
If i would have yellows and reds in my offering i would end up composting them, coz nobody wants to pay for it. :D And also when i was selling in flowers market everybody only wanted to buy my soft coloured, pastel bouquets and didnt even look at the colourful ones. So i have to weed out all the colourful ones year by year... :D
Only people over 60 yo would buy red, but than also they only want cheap flowers for the cemetery.
    About your order:
The Snow cristal is really beautiful, but the head is so heavy, the stem just unable to hold it in the bouquets. The Jan Bos colour is amazing, your daugther picked well!

Really?! wow!! That’s surprising! Maybe because 🇨🇦 Canada’s two main colors are red and white so we love a lot of red and white in our bouquets and we absolutely love rainbow colors bright bold colors I think it’s because the winters can be kind of harsh and being stuck indoors we like all the beautiful vibrant colors that nature has to offer. ❤🇨🇦🥰

As a Dutch person I can recommend going to Lidl around or after 5th of September, or check the Dutch version of their leaflet.
Their bulbs are quite good quality(maybe a little smaller than Dutch store bought).
They have sun lovers, crème upstar, antoinette and many more.
Even for Dutch prizes they are cheap, just look for bulb mould/sour bulbs in the bag and avoid them(or dead tips).

Serena, I can see why you, and you husband are excited about the Tulip bulbs you've purchased for planting. All the bulbs you've selected are going to provide beautiful flowers.
Last fall, I planted tulips all around my bird feeders, bird bath, head stone for our dog (he passed away), and some beautiful stepping stones with a bench. Later, after night fall the raccoons came in, and had a buffet with every bulb. They dug up the bulbs, ate what they could, and destroyed the rest. I was so devastated because I had put a lot of effort in this garden area. When I plant tulips now, I have to put an electric solar fence around them to keep the raccoons, and deer out. Or switch to flowers the raccons, and deer don't like.

So exciting to see what you have planned in terms of tulips for next year. Can’t wait. A suggestion Serina ..... set up the tripod to videotape these kinds of blogs where you are basically stationary. So Ian doesn’t have to babysit the camera and be productive helping elsewhere.

That’s so awesome you allow the kids to pick things from the catalogue for your farm. Some of my favourite memories of my parents are gardening and one is my Mom allowed to me to choose seeds for the garden.

I have grown Golden Dukat and some of the other big doubles, they are beautiful- sometimes the blooms are so heavy, though, that they break over the stems. I also have some Tahiti and they have a lovely fragrance. Tulips were lovely, sorry they are a cut and done thing! Should be a great spring for you and for us watching.

Golden Dukat and Dick Wilden are the same daffodil, I also avoid them because they droop to the ground.
They start strong but most of the times get too heavy.
Replete, delnasaugh, white lion, sweet desire, white obdam have nice strong stems for double daffodils.

Qatar tulip (pronounced more like “cutter” like the Arab country) is known to last so long it almost dries as-is - I’m so curious to see how it works for you and hope you can try a few as dried.

My suggestion regarding Narcissus: 'Art Perfume' and 'Art Design'.
They look very regal for a filled double. And smell DIVINE
