      We just went to a tulip farm today to pick tulips, and they made sure to cut off the bulbs before we left. They tell you they are just going to throw them away, but my husband flat out asked and was told they would charge us if we wanted to keep them. Haha. 🌷 🌷 🌷 Your video proved our assumption that they are reusable. 🙂

    Brilliant video with very clear instructions. I've two containers with around 200 tulips, which I'm gonna follow this and grow next year. Could you please give me bit more information about storage. Everyone say cool dry place. Should Garage is ok? do they need to be in the dark? Do they survive hot summer days in the garage? Please do a time lapse or photo video about your bulbs, how to identify rot/bad bulbs ect. BTW, I'm in UK so you are the best to get this advices. Already subscribed and looking forward to your videos. Cheers!

      Thanks for such a comment. For storage, I would not suggest garage as temperature can be varying alot. I use my utility room but this is a separate space and fairly dark when not used. You can also try if you have any storage under stairs, seem perfect place (make sure that it has good air flow). I will be uploading a video on what happen to bulbs after storage in few weeks so that can give you more ideas. Thanks for subscription and I did few time-lapse, you can check my channel and will try to do more. Stay connect and Tc.

  • @laurafont7620
    @laurafont7620 Год назад +2

    Curious how many bulbs you planted to begin with?? Did you end up with more or less bulbs to replant?? Did you plant the smaller bulbs to get them to mature into flowering bulbs??

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  Год назад +2

      I always add new bulbs with store ones. When you store bulbs, you will never get all the bulbs back as bulbs will be divided during flowering season. As very small bulbs takes years to get mature so I tends to plant medium and good size bulbs. Medium size ( bigger than very small) do give flower but generally small in size.

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  3 года назад +2

      Thanks Salvo for watching. If they are in ground than I would suggest to leave them. Not all the varieties of Tulips are perennial but you can add more tulip bulbs in same area every year. This will give you a good flower display and you don't need to worry about if tulips will return or not. In the ground, I would not worry about division but if you grow in containers than it is a different story. All the best for your display.

  • @rlolo777
    @rlolo777 2 года назад +3

    During which seasons are they stored and at what point do you plant them? Do you keep the tiny ones stored like that and they just grow on their own, or do you put them in soil waiting for them to grow bigger? You said we could keep them and wait till they get bigger for a few years, but how do you store them for that long of a time period?

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  2 года назад +6

      Rebecca very valid questions and glad you ask. Once tulips finish flowering than you can start storage process as you can see in video. I plant them just before winter, I have a video on this on my channel with name Tulips, crocuses and daffodils | a journey of planting to storing bulbs. Do have a look for full details. For very tiny Tulip bulbs ( 5-10 cm) plant them every season and they will get bigger. For very very tiny bulbs less than 5cm, you can discard them. All the best for season. I have replanted my stored bulbs this year and they are give good flowers so storage is working for me. You can follow on my instagram account for instant updates. Tc

      Woow, wonderful - 15 years. Timothy I guess that you may have now 4th or 5th generation tulips. Please do share your experience on number of blooms every year (do they all bloom or less). I heard that Tulips start to change colours over the years (my ones are just 1 year old), I am new to this so will look forward to hear from you on this and thanks for your comment. By the way, do you let Tulips to self seeds or do deadheading?

      Для посадки в контейнер берут большие луковицы..а в открытый грунт в сад можно садить луковицы любого размера...детки не глубоко, а большие (10-11 ) по правилам. После цветения в контейнерах Вам лучше их все посадить в землю в сад☝там они окрепнут..а сейчас для контернера лучше купите новые.. Потом будете чередовать

      I don’t think so, any cold medium will force them to produce new growth. Best to keep in room temperature.

      Thank you for this informative video. I live in Goa, India and have crocosmia growing all year round which keep producing more bulbs and foliage but hardly ever flower. Do you suggest i take them out and refrigerate them for a while so that they are forced to flower?

      Small one are depends on you, you can store 5-10 cm size bulbs but anything less than 5cm just discard them.

    What if leave the bulbs permanently in the garden? Do you have gophers, chipmunks rabbits, or other barrel-making pests that consume your bulb in winter? or will they die if left alone under the snow? I thought they could survive and flower year after year if no one harvested or ate them! Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    any suggestion for the squirrels that dig my tulips up take one bite & then leave it? ugh

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  2 года назад

      Bonita - squirrels are part of garden so best to protect bulbs using any kind of cover. I use inset netting until leaves are 3-4 inches. I have discussed around these issues in another video (Tulips, Crocuses, and Daffodils | A Journey of planting to storing BULBS), video is available on my channel. Tc

    Yesterday, I bought tulip bulbs from the store. I would like to ask if i can store them without planting them for the next fall is that possible?

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  Год назад

      Interesting question, I never did storage during season but I have feeling that new shoots will come out from bulbs during storage and will be white. I don’t think that they will flower as needs more energy from sun and compost etc. I have experience with dahlia and if you are late than similar thing happen. Can we store during season … I am not fully sure but you may able to. I don’t know how new white shoots will impact growth new year. Just to add, white shoots indicate low light to no light conditions and shoots turn green when expose to sun light. All the best and do share your experience.

      Drini that’s fantastic if they bloom. In pots, over time they get saturated due to baby bulbs. My feeling is that you may have blooms but not same size as they were in first year. What do you think ?

    What will happen if I don't dig them out of the soil? Will they die?

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  3 года назад

      Arjun, I don't think that they will die. After bloom, if you check bulbs than you will find that they have been divided (few small and few big) so you may not see one big bulb which you have planted. Because of division, smaller bulbs (only give foliage) will take few years before they can get to a good size (which is required to have blooms). My understanding is that if you don't dig them then this is like a future investment where smaller bulbs will get bigger and will give blooms. Do remember that generally varieties are meant to bloom for 1 or 2 years and few varieties are perennial. All the best.

    • @ProfInfinity
      @ProfInfinity  2 года назад +1

      Summer on my side is not hot and we do get rain so pots are not always fully dry. I would suggest to give water. Perhaps I should try to see what happen if pots are dry during bulbs collection. All the best Shinta
