- This week we are opening up our roadside stand, harvesting our 5000 Tulips, arranging them into bouquets, and putting them up for sale! This is our 4th year farming, and we hope to actually make some money this year, and starting the season with a big Tulip harvest is the perfect jump start to get us on our way to our goal. Serina was working overtime to pull this off, she was busy our in the farm, pulling up Tulips, which we would store in the walk in cooler till they were reading to be arranged. Sales were strong, and we are excited about starting the farm season with a big win. The bouquets are all so colourful, these Tulips really put on a show. Hopefully we can convince all our customers that we are the only place they need to go for all the flower needs!

You can dig the bulbs once the foliage die back, use the space in summer for something else, store the bulbs in basement and plant them in fall, there is no need for the bulbs to be in the ground during the summer.
I had a bunch of my bulbs fall short of what i expected for my usual bouquet bunches. Sooo, i grabbed a bunch of the shorties with some filler and a few jelly size mason jars...voila! Perfect for a personal desk bouquet or small front reception office. Sometimes, a full $20 bouquet seems like a splurge for a small office or small apartment. These $10 shorties are a beautiful touch for a quick gift or pick-me-up without seeming extra.
Agree !
Luckily, even our short ones ended up being long enough once we pulled the stem. But that is a great trick for using what you gave
You can still dry store the tulips without the bulbs still attached. Some growers are in the bulb-on and some are in the bulb-off camp. Was listening to Jennie Love's Podcast about tulips and she stores thousands of tulips without the bulbs, so I stored all of mine that way for 3-4 weeks in the fridge to hold for Mother's Day and they rehydrated great! So try it next season. 🥀
I agree on this - we are flower farmers that sell at Pike Place Market in Seattle. We have been doing this for 30+ years, and the way we harvest our tulips is similar to above statement. We're not a big company but operate at a family level; We pull each tulip out, only the ones with color tip, and then bunch them in 12-20 stems, then rubber band them on the bottom. Next, we gather them, wrap them in paper, and place 4-6 bundles in a bucket (no water). The tulips are stored in the cooler at 37 degrees. We do this for all our tulips a month before Mother's Day. A day before selling we unwrap them, cut a little off the bottom tip, put them in water, and voila, they come to 'life" ready for selling; The tulips that bloom too fast are sold in the market. So yeah, hopefully that helps some folks who's getting into flower farming :) :)
@@daoandchayeng3249 Thanks so much for the tips guys! What are your top 3 tulips? Tulip shopping is crazy overwhelming.
Don't you just love that sound of harvesting tulips. God I can't wait for spring 2023
BEAUTIFUL 💐 bouquets! Congrats on a great start to your flower season! We LOVED ❤ visiting your farm stand 🌼
I love that you save the bulbs and give them another chance to live and flower 🌷🌷🌷
I wish so much “cha-ching” for you guys this season. You won’t know what to do with it. As always, your hard work shows.
Yay! Bouquet making is back. Those tulips 🌷 look so beautiful xx Cathi xx 😘
So much hard work but definitly a labor of love. I want an armful of stunning tulips! Great job on your hard work. Have you thought of doing you tube "shorts" on all your monthly bouquets? I bet you'll get lots of views.
These tulip flowers are so beautiful . I wish I live near you so that I can stop by and pick up them
Love your garden and hard work , the cat is so cute , too . Happy to all !
Beautiful tulips🌷 The cats are so cute😼 Glad y'all had such a successful Mothers Day sale!😊
Beautiful tulips and arrangements! You are both so hard working, and manage to have fun too.
💗💗💗
You have an amazing amount of energy. You deserve great rewards for all your hard work this season.
💗💗💗
Your soil is amazing. And I'm learning about flower farming tulips now. 4 years into it with 2 years sales ,so I'm getting there ! I swear when I go to heaven I will do his gardens. You are awsome!
The best flower shot! 9:27....looks amazing!!
I can totally relate to the "pop and the UGHHHH" when the Tulip comes out without the bulb (the Florist that I sell to really appreciates if the bulb is still attached, so I try my best!)! I thought I had a lot this year...2,000 for me! It was a crazy, beautiful season! Hope your Tulip sales are great!
I'm definitely hoping to have a technique for them to pull out easier next year. I think they keep a lot better with the bulb too
@@YouCantEatTheGrass You did an amazing job pulling them out! I have found that after a rain they are easier, and planting in compost can be helpful too. Enjoyed seeing your lovely blooms and super sales!
Loving Ian’s intros lately! So glad the tulips are working well so far!!
Ian's team flowers, so now that the flowers are back, he is having fun editing videos
You should get a stem chopper like Nicole at Flower Hill Farm has. You're all about efficiency this year!
I was saying the same thing lol!
We have one on order now. It's definitely time to get one. I've been avoiding it in the past years because my son is very interested in helping, and it would be hard to keep him away, but he's older now, and they also have locks on them to keep it safe when I'm not using them
Very pretty! Tulips are the only flowers that continue to grow after they’ve been cut☺️
It's so weird to see them getting longer in the vase
WOW! I can't believe you're doing this on your own. Beautiful work❤️
OMG I loved the editing on Ian pounding the stakes in :D Made me laugh. Great job guys, your flowers look amazing and your bouquets even better!
You are so cute ! I love how dedicated you are ! Here’s a flower for you 🌷 ❤️
I’m in love with Tulips 🌷
Recently visited keukenhof and it was amazingly beautiful
Gorgeous! 😍
You are amazing!
Could you install a ring doorbell in your little farm shop so you can see when the flowers are sold. You would get notifications when someone is there. 😀
Good idea
꽃도 꽃과 함께하는 당신도 아름다워요~~매우 아름다워요.🥰💕👍
Thanks for telling me that there is a tulip that bears my mother’s maiden name! I must get some next fall. Right now I am enjoying this year’s spectacular flowers, partly in containers on my deck. I am mildly obsessed with getting even more next year. Loving this video and sharing it. Carry on making the world a more beautiful place!
Love flowers as I love your garden too, ❤️❤️❤️
Hooray for a wonderful start to the 2022 season. Wonderful job Ian and Sirena. 🎉🌷🥰🥰🌷🎉
Thanks
I truly think that the only thing holding the road side shop back is the curb appeal. The fence on both sides are just begging for landscape images. There is so much space you could even do the different seasons along them.
Maybe look for a high school or college art student(s). Who knows, they might even do it for no cost for experience and marketing of their skills. 😁
We are going to be putting a garden in the front, and planting lots of taller plants
Love tulip much
Really like your garden
I think you should paint the fence of farm stand from white to flower images. People passing by will definitely notice the farm stand and Some of them end of buying some flowers. I guess multiple colors of tulips will do the job...
Yep get all the pictures this year while you can!!
I think I'm going to try the raised tuilp bed this fall. I lost over half my tulip crop this year. 😭
Oh no! That really sucks!
Very nice 👌👍
That's a lot hard work! As always I love watching your channel and all the beautiful flowers. Congrats on the Mother's Day weekend sale!
Beautiful
I agree with some comments that short tulips look wonderful in petite bouquets 💝sometimes they are even more cheerful because they are at different eye level! Maybe worth trying to sell those as well?
Even the short tulips were long enough once I pulled the underground stem
That’s fantastic :) can’t wait to see more videos. Best of luck for the season 🙏🏻
Those flowers are amazing. 😍 Great choice of varieties. What a wonderful start of the season.
Haha Serina saying 4000-5000 tulips are a good amount for the work involved...then on the Livestream..."Ian, I need 14,000!" Love it! Well maybe with the raised beds they will be less work to harvest next year. Can't wait for the new growing season on the farm... without vegetables for sale will be interesting though. Blessings, -Kate
STILL diggin those snazzy overalls Serena!! 💚💙🖤💜🤍
Thanks. They are from Duluth
Whoah that looks like so much work! They look amazing though! I loled at how your smile with the armful of tulips went from "YAY" to "yeah yeah let's get on with it" with every location :D
In the heat, they start to open really fast, so its a bit of a race
Hey you guys! I stored half my tulips bulb on, half cut. When I brought them out of storage 3 weeks later, I couldn’t see any difference in performance. I wish I had a farm stand though!!
I wish I was close to your farm for I would buy your bulbs, dry them and have a garden of flowers next year. Just smaller and not very long stems would make me so happy for a few weeks!
I love the beautiful tulips and learning about them as you educate us. Thanks so much,
The tulips looks beautiful! Interesting how growers dig up bulb and all. I love tulips!
It's for being able to store them for long periods of time in a cooler, and still have them be fresh and perfect
Looking beautiful., looking amazing., such abundance! Blessed. 💗🌱💐💗
So nice to see your farm stand in action! Way to go :):)
Really nice bouquets, Serina.
Lovely video. I love the flower stand.
I really wait for your video ... Those tulips were so lovely☺️☺️
Good luck guys! Hope you sell a lot this season…
Love it! We need to plant more on our homestead
Loved the well timed editing of Ian putting in the T posts. Gorgeous tulips and great bouquet making. I'd love to see some perrenials along the fence by the farm stand. Would be beautiful and attract customers💜 Keep up the good work👍
We are planning on putting in a bunch of annuals, like sun flowers and zinnias
Are you able to hang a sign beside your name on the fence? It may look cool to have a big TULIP sign to promote there and maybe change it out from product to product.
We plan on having plants planted up there this year
Lots of blooms. Lots of sales. Great!
Beautiful tulip garden
Beautiful flowers as usual hope you did well on mothers day
QUE HERMOSA ES LA CREACION DE DIOS.🌹🌹🌹
Beautiful! They are so much better than last year! Glad they have better stems for you. Mine are not up at all. It makes me nervous but it’s still so cold here. Hopefully soon they come up.
It's absolutely stunning
amazing, hard work. well done!
Thank you for sharing about your day-to-day hard work on the farm and selling your product. As a serious home gardener, I appreciate it and wish you both the best! One small recommendation - Ian might want to consider protecting his hearing when driving posts into the ground (or using any mechanized tools). Over time, such loud sounds can result in hearing loss. In this case, an ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.
Your tulips they are beautiful and you're making such a nice bouquet 💐 I learn lots from you I love make bouquet from my garden all the best.
Thanks so much
16:39 That's the one! 💐🌷 25:05 Holy heavy tools, Batman! 🛠 How much does that post driver weigh? 25:45 awwwww......
Felicitari, Ce lume frumoasă!
Serina l love your Tulips video, watching it a few times... marvelous...congrate
I really enjoyed this video! Those bouquets are beautiful! (I’m from southeastern Pennsylvania; wish you guys were closer!🌷) congrats on a successful farm stand!
💗💗💗

Thanks
漂亮,喜欢。花花的世界。
Love your channel! Amazing!
Amazing video🌹🌹🌹👍👍👍
Very good and beautiful amazing like paradise
So beautifull and amazing💞🌷🌷🌷🌷
Oh my god my favorite flower tulips 👍.Wow you deserved more I mean after you cut them you need to go and sell in supermarket restaurant any store they are lovely
Just lovely! I’m in Ohio otherwise would be stopping frequently for bunches! Love how you wrap the brown paper. Going to steal that idea! So had some ideas for your stand…. Install an intercom or ring camera and a sign so that customers can buzz you to ask about certain colors or if you had more. Or a security camera to monitor just for conversations with customers. Add a pretty round sticker with your company name, number, email, instagram etc. with a tag line that you make custom orders. Leave a clip board and paper with note across top for customers to leave their cell/email so you can send out emails or alerts that you’ll have xyz out today. (Similar to food trucks in the states with intense followers that announce say at 9:30 am that they will be at xyz location at noon today). Their are many free email newsletters that you can add everyone’s emails too and do a blitz every other day with a short note about what is blooming this week with a gorgeous picture. Consider add on sales: Flower note tags (happy bday, congrats, with sympathy) with envelopes. Very inexpensive to buy assorted box and display stand. I sold these in my gift shops. Double or triple your cost of the item (round to quarter for easy $ in jar). I also sold glass vases that I bought wholesale by the case (usually 50 cents each, sell for 2.50 or 3.00). Just have them always on your shelves. Maybe have a small peg board of bows made up and sell for $2 or $3. Again buy ribbon in bulk at floral supplier. These are small items but they add up. Contact me at my name at gmail if you have ?’s. I would be happy to make bows for you. 🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸
Lots of great ideas. Lia made mothers day cards, and they sold well for her, so she plans to make a set of occasion cards to sell permanently in the stand.

Lotta work!
I loved all your videos!!🌷🌻 keep waiting for the next one and for the next one and for the next one!!🙏👍👌😁😁🌷🌻‼
I’ve always put 3 copper pennies in the water with tulips to keep them standing up and they usually last surprisingly well I literally have no idea why though😂😂
I love flowers. I'm from India
Vườn hoa đẹp quá , thanhk bạn
I love your videos and your flower arrangements. I’ve been binge watching all of your videos. Your cats are great too. My cat loves to be with me when I’m working in the yard too! ❤️
I always love your videos!
💗
Wow beautiful Sarina love them so regally royal lol lost for words
Tulips are special
I have always wondered how they do that. You make beautiful things!
💗💗💗
You are so awesome 🤩
If Nicole is a crazy chicken lady, you're a crazy cat lady, LOL! Serina, you have to give credit to your ingenious and hard working man who made that cooler and thus enabled all this to be happening:))))
😻😻😻
Oh my word your bouquets are so reasonable
Thanks
I am so glad you are not throwing the bulbs away. If you need to maybe give the bulbs to churches to give to their members yards with instructions maybe you could even sell them.
I’m loving the intros!!!
Hahah loved the intro 😀😃
I love to work here.i love flowers too.
Girl this is a beautiful pic of you!!
Thanks
Hey, do you have a Spring Festival in your local community? Maybe it's time to think? ;) Invite local guests, organize a tulip feast :D I'm just dreaming... I know you have a lot of work to do, but I love people doing something for local communities and love see how it brings them together. Greetings
We have to pull the tulips before they bloom to sell them, so the tulip field doesn't actually look very good, lol
Digging the intros!
Like your Christmas tree up :) ♡
It's not going anywhere, lol
Hi ... Love all your videos
Wanted to know how long does tulips bloom?
Where do you buy the bulbs ?
What temperature it has to be for storing in refrigerator and how long can we store it ?
I’m loving these most recent intros 😁😁👍🏾
They almost sound like you are doing them ironically 😂 but that’s why I love them.
Thanks! I think they bring fun energy to the start of a video, and I like making them!
I love double tulips
If i lived by you id be buying them
Thanks
I didn't know you could plant your tulips bulbs so close together question mark
Merhaba, kalan soğanları tekrar dikiyor musunuz?
