Yeah, they have a video where they use diffraction film pressed into silicone to make a holographic mold, and they describe how the holo effect works. There's also those videos about holographic chocolate using that film, but buying a mold that's already structured to give the holo effect is much easier than fussing around with the film and worrying about it not lying quite right!

The holographic molds work with science! They have tiny bits of texture that reflect light in the right way to create the rainbow for us. When you top coat it, the light can't reflect at the right angles anymore and it disappears. It's a really cool effect and i love it! 😁

amazon sells window film with this holo pattern in it and if you take 100% silicone caulk and make a mold on top of it.. and let it dry then pour your resin you get the same effects as this mold! i watched Naptime Creations on you tube do this very thing.

I bought a bunch of this window film after seeing Sharon Lindly do some sculptures using it. I found they have these triangle type ones, but also holo floral pattern. Then I watched Evan and Kaitlin's video and got some of that (very expensive) holo film to play with. But I haven't seen anyone really make good reuseable molds with the pattern on the bottom till now. Seems like it'd be kind of easy to replicate if you just cut out the exact size of the piece and then glue it in the bottom of your shape to make a mold from. Anyway, I like this idea, and your moon and star look lovely! I have a few of Julie Art's things too. Great stuff!

I admittedly haven't tried the quicker hardener or the laminate one, so topcoats still elude me. I also did a yellowing test with roses and it stays clearer than other bands I've tried. And its more sustainable than them as well - made from waste in other industries!

Yasss, I’ve been waiting for someone to make holo molds! A few months ago, Simply Nailogical made holo chocolate and Evan & Katelyn made rectangular holo molds to test the idea.
From what I understand, it’s the texture that makes the holo, so anything that can copy the texture at that microscopic level can be holo as long as it doesn’t have other properties that could either cancel out or recombine the colors (probably why the multi-chrome powder didn’t work). That’s why the top coat made it disappear. It’s the same as using a top coat to get rid of scratches and dents.
I’d be really curious to see if glass or metal could be holo too. I bet it could. Not sure how one would go about making that texture on them, though. Maybe laser engraving or something like that?

I know there are ways to create this yourself but I love this. Think it would be a savings in cost because you don’t have to keep purchasing film or anything else to get the effect. Just reuse the mold over and over. Love it.

    The molds are wild
I hope to purchase some in the future.
I love your videos and your style and tastes are very similar to my own.
Question: Do you have a video of how you organize and store your molds?
    Thanks
P.S.: I laughed hysterically when I saw my spice rack on your amazon list.

These are beautiful. Julie Cutts @ pouring your heart out, makes those moulds. She uses them in video #1290 holo resin coaster inserts.

I’m fairly certain you could still combine dusting with a small thin layer of resin over the mold first, then dusting?

I bought a bunch of those molds, too! And the BUTTERFLY? OMG!!! You can buy the window film that makes this on Amazon and I have a whole roll of it. Sharon Lindley @ Vivid Days Art used it to make suncatchers and that was the FIRST time I have seen it used! These are neat and very beautiful! XOXO

The mould makes the rainbows by making prisms on the surface so topcoating just filled in between the prisms. It's like a refraction paper effect.

How many times can a holographic mold be used before the holograph effect is worn out?
