    Great tutorial! I have yet to buy any silicone, but one day, I sure will!
    Tish, you might be able to avoid the heat rash caused by the gloves by putting about 1/2 tsp of cornstarch or arrow root in each glove. Gather top of glove, blow into it (do *not* inhale! lol), close and shake the glove. That will distribute the powder evenly, help getting gloves on and off, and help prevent heat rash. Good luck!

    Ty for this! I wanted to say that I have this exact window cling and tried to get a silicone insert straight off of it, but it didn't work 🤣, whatever it's made of inhibits the silicone fm curing properly just where it touches the film 😅 (the same way trying to mold something made of uv resin) so this is a great way to do it!! So clever! I know some other "defraction sheets" may work straight off of the film tho in case anyone has seen those videos 😋, apparently they're made fm different materials 😁 I have successfully used small pieces of those films and laid them across a curing bit of resin and had it work with no need to make a mold too so it all depends on what you would like to accomplish! Ty again for a wonderful video!!

    • @naptimecreations
      @naptimecreations  2 года назад +1

      Thanks so much Carol, I have had other people say they haven't been able to make a mold directly on the window film too. So I just tried it this way and it worked great.
      I've also wondered of I could lay the diffraction grating right on wet resin. Does it peel off OK? I have a small sheet and man that stuff is expensive so I haven't made anything with it yet 😅 thanks for watching

      @carolstewart1704 2 года назад +1

      So glad u figured this out actually 😅 and yes!! I think bc it's pretty much the same as u do here but backwards hehe I want to say that I used this exact one back when I first got it and cut a lil piece to lay across the back of.. like an oval cabachon mold 🤔 and it worked perfectly! I must have used epoxy for it too... And ofc just have to make sure if there's a film that it's off of it... And don't let it fall into the wet resin and get stuck 🤣 and same as always, the longer u let it cure the better the Holo will imprint 😋

      😅 sry, I answered having just woke up! But yes! Same thing for the defraction sheets and WOW grrl, yeah, ur not kidding that stuffs a million bux 🙀 I believe that's why ppl have been making the silicone inserts with them instd.. to make those sheets last them longer 😪

    • @naptimecreations
      @naptimecreations  2 года назад +1

      It should peel right off a resin piece because silicone doesn't bond to resin.
      Pouring silicone directly onto the window film doesn't work. It has to be done on a resin piece.

      I would buy them off etsy or make them like this. This window film I use to make these is very inexpensive
      Compared to the other styles I use. Those are made with diffraction grating and for a small sheet of it its $20 just for the diffraction grating. Then you have to buy silicone rubber and that's more expensive per oz then resin.

    Hi Tish. I was actually doing the exact same thing on the same window film. I used silicone caulk (bathroom) to make the insert. It didn’t look as rainbowy as yours so I didn’t use it. Have you tried bathroom caulk? Also, have you ever dropped the halo insert into the mold and poured resin over it! Would that work? I have a star mold I wanted to use as a sun catcher for my grandchild. I put a round halo insert on top of the resin but I’m not loving the indent the insert leaves.

    • @naptimecreations
      @naptimecreations  2 года назад +1

      Hi Gina 🤗 the star mold suncatcher sounds beautiful.
      I haven't tried to make these with caulk. I don't think it would pick up the rainbows as well as the liquid silicone rubber does.
      I did make a piece yesterday, I added the insert on top of the wet resin. I am going to demold it tomorrow. I will try adding it inside the mold next. I think it would leave a slight indent inside the mold but these molds are thin so it shouldn't be too noticeable 🤗

      @@tinamerrow7319 no the silicone rubber does not bond to this window film. It will bond to diffraction grating sheets but it won't work if you pour the silicone rubber right onto the window film. It doesn't cure and it will be a waste of silicone rubber.

    ... and it's still kinda 'witchery' to me, how that holographic effect can be transferred to Resin or Silicone, without destroying the initial layer such as window foil 😂

      You made the molds from resin pieces correct?
      It will not work if you pour silicone directly onto the window film. The molds have to be made from resin pieces that were made on the window film.

      @@naptimecreations Yes, I made them from resin pieces, the resin pieces actually look stunning. I just can't figure out what i did wrong when trying to make the mold.

      @@twofeatherz68 that is so strange, and you poured the silicone right onto the resin pieces with the rainbow side facing up? So the silicone was poured on the rainbow side?

      You can use them for projects like this. The holographic crystals, or add them to coasters to make them holographic.

      @@mariemansfield8340 you can place them inside the mold then pour or fill the mold 2/3 full then place them rainbow side down on the wet resin

    can you just pour the silicone rubber onto the window film to make the insert?

    • @naptimecreations
      @naptimecreations  2 года назад +1

      No, it doesn't work that way. The silicone won't adhere and the rainbow pattern won't transfer.

      That was my question too. I watched a video by another crafter and that’s how she did it, however, she was using something different. It wasn’t this textured window film. So, I have a roll of the holo film, some silicone rubber for making molds. Now I need to get busy. Lol I just hadn’t planned on making the resin molds first. 🥴
