In fact, I agree the force used here was unnecessary, and the incident could have been handled better. However, some officers are genuinely trying to uncover the truth and perform their duties correctly. Many even agree that the other officers made a stupid move. Normally I like your videos but the commentary is getting to be a little much, especially when you’re doing everything you can to make it seem like the police are right in every situation, and they definitely weren’t here. It’s easy to sit around and Monday morning quarterback a situation when you weren’t there and don’t know how you would react to being accused of something you’re innocent of. She just wasn't paying attention she just guessed so they should've took what she said with a grain of salt. No waitress really even knows the actual answer we just running around serving food we are not watching the time.
The manager said, "They rubbed her the wrong way when they wanted the check and food to go." I would too if I've been sitting there for almost 2 hours with no food and horrible service. The cops should've done their investigation properly by checking the cameras, which took less than 5 mins to do and not go hands on first. Yes it could have been easier if the couple said what car they were driving, but they also have thier civil rights to not answer if they did not want too, it is not up to them to do the cops job/investigations properly.
I can not imagine going to eat with my wife and kid to end up being tackled, beaten up, pepper spread and arrested, and my child taken away.

They didn't give false info, they reported someone that fit the description the cops gave. The real issue was the cops were vague about the description and gave wrong info. They said "wearing red" not "female wearing a red sweatshirt" like the witness said. Chain of communication being shit from the officers made this whole thing wrong

When being detained by police you need to listen and stay where you are if you ask to leave somewhere they’re going to tell you no you’re detained for an investigation of a near hit and run they just don’t say oh okay yeah sure man get out of my site and possibly lose you trying to find the suspects of this actual crash I understand being walked up on and being asked of something you didn’t do is not fun but if he just complied and MOST IMPORTANTLY pointed out the car he was driving to get there instead of escalating and starting to resist or argue or be disorderly. It wouldn’t have happened if he was just calm and talked to the police like normal people
This is just a case of police reacting to the eyewitnesses claims and trying to put the pieces together it’s not completely their fault that the information wasn’t all right hindsight is always 2020 and when it comes to a hit and run which is taking very seriously police need to act fast to find the true criminals and this family sadly decided to try and resist for nothing and also taking your kid with you and fighting back how does that look possibly putting your kid in danger why would you do that as a father or escalate and act like a jackass in front of your kid
The police had no legal grounds to detain them. They were free to leave at any time. They had not been placed under attest or read their rights. Know the law, the cops don't.

Having normal human emotions such frustration at being at a restaurant for an extensive amount of time, agitation at poor service and dealing with a baby in public as sleep deprived new parents - plus the anxiety inducing interaction with police- can result in being told you’re resisting and they can justify using force against you! This was a horrific nightmare!
It's not that they were "being told they were resisting", they were resisting. The cops had reasonable suspicion, instead of helping clear their names they acted like fools and caught charges. Should've just chilled out and said the car in the parking lot was theirs BEFORE fighting the cops

The witness actually said she wasn’t sure and told what she thought. The cop then went t back and reported it as accurate information to everyone else

When the Applebee's manager made the comment that the couple seemed suspicious because they asked for their food to go and for the check, I knew something wasn't right. What she failed to mention to the cops was the couple had been there for over an hour waiting on their food and had complained about the poor service. The fact she told police that they had only been there for 20 minutes and seemed very suspicious upon entering was an intentional exaggeration and lie to get them in trouble because she was butt-hurt over them complaining and possibly giving her attitude. Sadly, this fact was overlooked by the cops, but not by Applebee's Corporate office who fired her.

She didn't need to do all that and they were possibly taken long with the customers food just to be a**holes, or hoping they'd get irritated enough to leave? I watch a lot of these videos and most of the PO's aren't unnecessarily aggressive and they actually listened first, and those cop cams are of course more for the officer's protection because even when it shows them being dead a** wrong, they either don't get into trouble or a slap on the wrist just like criminals?

They could've asked for CCTV very early on in the investigation and could have de-escalated things way earlier as well. and to make them more suspicious they continue to act out instead of just listening to what they police are asking them. Considering the white car they drove there in was parked right there they could've just pointed to the car and proved they are the owners by using the car keys to make the tail lights light up or something. Fighting and freaking out against police asking you simple questions when you know for a fact you haven't done anything wrong is the dumbest decision you can make.

The description of the suspects closely matched the couple in the restaurant, plus the staff member lying and saying that they’d only been in there for 20 minutes would’ve made me think that they were the perpetrators. It’s crazy how off descriptions from witnesses can be and when they line up with a random couple and is backed up by a staff member’s timeline it makes the whole situation bad. Yes there should’ve been more interrogating of staff members about the timeline but they did what they could with what they had. The biggest thing that could’ve helped the couple would’ve been to point out that your car was the one outside the restaurant. If the man would’ve answered the question from the officer at that time right at the start of the encounter they would’ve had no problems.
The charges need to be dropped against the husband and wife though.

Maybe it’s the people who have no common sense, if they simply showed what car they came in and they would’ve immediately had been cleared. They chose not to so the officers had to go off witness statements, which tend to be unreliable. If a police officer is coming from a scene of a hit-and-run and get a call about people that match the description + you refuse to identify the vehicle you were driving + the witness statements saying you came in around the time of the crash, you’re going to look guilty. This is common sense.
