    Watching from down under Australia. Great video lads, both bikes look sweet. 90's era MTB refresh sounds great 👍

      @@NikkiNexo777 I did 3-4 light coats of primer, same for the paint and clear.

      Thanks amigo!! We had a blast with this one.
      We’re on it!!! Just picked up two vintage MTBs today to start on soon, I’m restoring my first real BMX bike soon, & I have a 1983 schwinn predator we’ll be working on soon too.

      @@NikkiNexo777this was 4 coats of primer+paint combo, then 4 coats of clear coat. It’s holding up pretty dang well too after several sessions.

    I like how it looks, white is underrated in respect to other colors. I also kinda regret buying my Demolition cranks in black and not in white.

      Right?! It’s super dope for an accent, I’ve never been bold enough to do an all white bike but have always loved the way they look.
      They look mean in white!! Problem is; one pair will last a lifetime. Haha

    Used painter stripper on a frame once and the wind picked up as I was spraying the paint stripper. It got all over my arm and started peeling my skin 🤣

    i love working on bikes so much that i volunteer as a mechanic with a local bike charity in the winter, so i'm always going to watch a video of working on bikes!
    can't remember ever painting a bike but one of the free ones i took on had a lot of paint damage and my neighbor's dad had an ultrasound tank in his garage so we put the frame in there and stripped off all the paint. not sure what liquid was in there but no wire brushes necessary! didn't put anything on it though -- just put it back together expecting it to look like bare steel but it quickly got rusty.

      Freakin' legendary!!! We have a FULL series coming for the winter of wrenching on bikes, we're stoked!!
      Those tanks rule, I used to have one at the roastery but gave it away - kinda regretting it now! haha.

      Ah man, it was BAD. I cleaned & lubed it a ton but the links were literally STUCK like that & shards of metal were starting to come off, in fact Chase cut himself on it, it was so sharp - I had never seen that happen before. 🥴

    Rattle can painting your bike is garbage! It doesn't hold up and any chemicals strip that paint right off! You need 2k paint to really hold up.

    • @JoyOfBike
      @JoyOfBike  Месяц назад

      Chase has been riding it for well over a month & it's holding up great! They key is solid prep followed by multiple coats of both paint & clear!
