@@zenmoto369 recent video clip of a girl saying it in one of those "on the street" interviews talking about bjs went viral (its the sound of collecting flem/ spit and spitting). The girl also capitalized on the fame and is doing podcasts and merch and stuff.
I think the pinion gearbox is what makes that bike possible. As someone who rode a lot of Backcountry it really sucks when you get stuck in too high a gear. It really takes the flow out of the ride when you have to jump off the bike to change gear. But with the pinion, you just twist and go, even if you're stopped, first gear is always available and you need that ability when your just chugging along.
6psi max, not sure what you went down too. I'm a Fatbike addict so this really shows just how good they are, even a 4.8 will cope with that trail easily
I did a lot of testing on my Big Fat Dummy ... weight distribution is a little different, especially when loaded, certainly the tires aren't this big, but I don't ride it under 15lbs unless it's snowing and I'm having trouble, granted that's a speed compromise for my commute, 75% road and 25% trail. for some of these sandy climbs that he's riding, less is better, especially if it's been churned up by ATVs
Fat Bikes are still quite popular up here in Minnesota which is where Surly is located and the first Fat Bikes came from. They are pretty fun in the snow and we groom most of our singletrack trails and ride all year around. Also, you have way too much air pressure. If you dropped it to 3 or 4 PSI you would easily roll over all that stuff.
Love the fat bike content. Here in central PA, it's fat bike season even without snow. You should get those pressures down between 7 and 9. Use a tube if needed. It should feel like riding a tracked vehicle.
He said at 7:55 "I'm pretty good, I can get the pressure within 20 psi" and I'm pretty sure those tires should always have a lot less than 20psi in them. Funny joke!
I had two FAT bikes in the past: Specialized Fatboy and Pole Taiga. If I could somehow build my dream FAT bike, it would be an eFAT bike with a DJI Avinox motor+1kW battery, 120mm travel front, and a Pole Taiga frame. Not as long as Moonlander, but long enough and stable as a bus. Unfortunately, due to my heart condition, I'm not allowed to ride Amish bikes. Great video, though.
I remember I spent big money building an Ice Cream truck piece by piece when they came out. I hated the geometry and parted it out. Got a Full carbon Farley and loved it.
most people don't realize how little pressure you need in those tires. in the summer I'll have his much as 15 to 20 lb in my 4 inch tires..., in the winter I don't go over 15 for snow, and the more slippery it is the less I have. in the forums people talk about running 8-10lbs
Newtons 3rd law, equal and opposite all that, basically, if you want a 10 inch long contact patch by 6 inch width, that's 60 square inches, times by two tyres, 120 square inches. If you, the bike, gear etc all added up to 240lb, that means you need to run 2psi to get that contact patch. From the looks of them tyres, you were still well into double figure for most of the ride. Obviously youre more likely to want more like 8x4 contact area, so 64 square inch of contact, but that still only calls for 3.75psi.
Probably one of the things I like the most about fat bikes the ability to ride over almost anything and it requires very little skill to remain upright on sketchy surfaces.
I wondered when you would get to this! the only thing that stops me from getting it, or from putting the wheel on the rear of my Surly Big Fat Dummy nobody else makes a tire this size. it's hard enough to find 5 inch tire options, in fact it's a good thing the 4 inchers also fit on my rim
Came here for the fatbike. Stayed for the fatbike trail riding. It's probably still my favorite way to move through the woods. I can underbike. I can overbike. I can drop bar knobby 26. But riding fat is still as close as I get to poking around in the 80s on my Huffy bmx.
I bought a used Motobecane Night Train, tricked out with carbon rims, lightweight tires, and a carbon crank. It weighs 29 pounds with Bluto suspension fork. I love it in the root and rock infested trails I take it,
As one who use fatbike for a long, i say, you probably be better on 4.0 or 4.6 in on leaves and rock. 5.0+ really heavy, it's more in snow biking\desert biking territory. And one more, Surly use two rear hubs becose there is no 6.2+ wide front hub on market.
I duct taped my pump into the holder after losing it once due to brush snapping it out of the holder. I found it the next day right in the middle of the trail and was determined not to lose it again.
Watching this while getting ready to MTB. Soon we’re driving from OKC to turkey mountain in Tulsa. Thanks for being part of a balanced breakfast! 🦃 gobble gobble
Pinion motor/gearbox unit instead of just the gearbox would be amazing, but also limiting, you could easily do a week long 300 mile trip on one of these, no way to charge fast enough/carry enough batteries for that.
great to see Alex and a Fatbike on the channel again. Thanks Seth
There will be more Alex now that he lives there
@augustmousel what did I miss😅 but that's like the best news because I really liked this two together
16:47 Seth saying hawk tuah is crazy LOL
Why, what is hawk tuah mean?
HAWK TUAH? AS IN SKIBIDI HAWKTUAH?

Those handlebars look like they came from my grandpa's basement, mamachiri style.
that's what I was thinking haha
my dyslexic ass: "how can handlebars be mariachi style?"
I have tried a SINGLE fat bike and i genuinely thing they're the most UNDERRATED thing on the whole MTB community
4:23 - Those small group of people thought, "they are good for chasing cruise ships through the water"
The second i saw the thumbnail i got so excited. Another video from Berm Peak!!
The RUclips compression really had a baaaaad day with all that foliage and lighting 😂
But love the bike, looks like a lot of fun in the right areas!

I love my Surly Pugsley but the Moonlander looks like it would be AWESOME for snow cycling!
6psi max, not sure what you went down too. I'm a Fatbike addict so this really shows just how good they are, even a 4.8 will cope with that trail easily

I cant believe how well seth is breathing (or how little he is) while going up those clims. Gotta get back in that kinda shape for sure...
These trails look like typical trails in Sweden. Rocks and roots and tons of fun.
Now do the worlds skinniest bike
Aka road bike
@ skinnier
Pizza cutter bike 🤘
@@DonnieX6yesss🔥🔥🔥
So gravel biking on road 23mm tyres. What could taco....I mean go wrong? 😂
At 16:47 there is no way Seth said hawk tuah 😂😂

My bike rack says it's fat bike compatible, I don't think they mean like this.
Was wondering when he was going to take out the fatty. Have one but I down size mine to 3 inch from 5 inch tires.
Great fun there and great fun to watch. Excellent day out / bike test / mates going for a ride.
This is my favorite new Moonlander review. I really want one for backcountry expeditions down here in Florida

Rock and root crawling is what I enjoy most about fat bike riding, and the way the tires grip everything along the way.
I love basically all of your content, but this was the best, most fun video in a while. I love the riding videos with weird bikes.
Haha nice! Berm Peak giving fat bike capability some love!
14:10 "Get out my way son 😡" my man thought he was driving a Ford F150 through texas
F450
@mitchellsteindler potato potato, it's a truck it gets the point across 😂
I remember I spent big money building an Ice Cream truck piece by piece when they came out. I hated the geometry and parted it out. Got a Full carbon Farley and loved it.
Great video, love your commitment on that log/ tree. Fantastic..👏👏👏
most people don't realize how little pressure you need in those tires. in the summer I'll have his much as 15 to 20 lb in my 4 inch tires..., in the winter I don't go over 15 for snow, and the more slippery it is the less I have. in the forums people talk about running 8-10lbs
That was great video thank you to you both
I remember when the first moonlander came out and I thought that was nuts, this one ups that. Bravo Surly.
26:36 there is bottle cage mounts for bike pumps that fits most bike pumps.
Alexander's laugh for the win!
Just two friends out playing bike. What a hoot. Thanks for bringing us all along.

That’s like the beefier version of my Wednesday, bars and all. PERFECT NE Chunder bike!
Great video! I miss East Coast single track.
You rave about your pump…so what make/model is it exactly?
I wondered when you would get to this! the only thing that stops me from getting it, or from putting the wheel on the rear of my Surly Big Fat Dummy nobody else makes a tire this size. it's hard enough to find 5 inch tire options, in fact it's a good thing the 4 inchers also fit on my rim
Alex is a good friend for riding along, that looked brutal
You guys should come out to Mammoth cave in Kentucky!
I love these types of videos! Thank you Seth! Makes me want to try fat biking😆
Seth, YOU'RE the beast. They don't pedal themselves.
"I will film your demise"... that's a friend worth keeping 😂
You have to try that on the road in deep snow!
Came here for the fatbike.
Stayed for the fatbike trail riding.
It's probably still my favorite way to move through the woods.

Its not about the crazy fat bike, its about 2 dudes having good laugh together, doing stupid things on awesome place. Such vibeee
Surly bike seems to be on big marketing campaign - popping up on a lot of channels lately
Bring that bike north. We got groomed fat bike trails. Ive wanted to see one of those in person
As a Surly fanboy I love watching Seth become one in real time
Holy crap that bike is unique and SICK
Omg new video!!!
Dudeman. Da beach. Fatbike on sand is rad!
NEW video YAYYY
Finally! Got here in the first ten minutes!!

"I think I can make it!" -- the return of Danger Seth
Its Like a ROKON! with Pedals
The best channel
The hauk tuaw was hella funny
I love fat bikes. I just bought a Farley. I have winter up here and live near the beach though.
I didn't even think they made such large tyres, they are some right chonkers.
I'd love to try this bike out in winter
Love my Fat Bike - it out rides any other bike in the area where I live. Ok it's not great at bike parks, but for 100% natural trails it's amazing.
Half the fun of mountain biking is being a woodsmen, leave it better then you found it good job guys.
No way Seth said “Hawk Tuah” 😂😂😂
You putting a finger on the front of the presta valve scares the hell out of me
I duct taped my pump into the holder after losing it once due to brush snapping it out of the holder. I found it the next day right in the middle of the trail and was determined not to lose it again.
16:48 HAWK TUAH
I like your Massey F40 trail bike
Next, add a 1500 watt Bafang mid drive and a 25 wh battery.
when are you making this bike all wheel drive? i see that cassette hub on the front wheel...
now i see why it's there but i think the question still stands haha
As someone getting older the fatbike has a measure of confidence and stability over conventional bikes. You loose a little top end but gain confidence
Wonder how it’d do going down snow trail
God I miss your Duo so much.
Why no belt! wish it had one. one of the best features .. no chain would rock.
How heavy are them tyres
That bike is fun to ride as a novelty but not what most people would want as a daily driver.
next put dropbar on that thing. it would be hilarious. 😀
That was different.
This is absolutely sadistic, and i'm here for it. 🔥💪
beefy!
But will they make it in the John Deere paint job?
Your channel is a place where quality always comes first. Thank you for your hard work and talent!🎮🌗🧪
your worst trails are kind of better than anything I have ever found in my area...
PLEASE go ride the new Rattlesnake bike park. I would love to see your review because I’m dying to go. ❤

This needs a nice torquey motor.

Hawk tuahs them out! 😂
Keep on pleasing us with such interesting videos! You are good! 😻👅
Mfw avg local Florida trail
You guys are total dorks ❤
Fat bikes are like classic VW Beatles you run super low PSI. I roll sub 10 all the time off road.
I want to live a life where a fat bike would be good for me. I find them so cool
16:47 we got Seth saying hawk tuah😂
There he is the man himself who eBegged for a van and disappeared
Fat bikes are GREAT people just hate to peddle them. But want to talk about driving over stuff, nothing does it better.
Send it 👍👍🇺🇸
