Just curious before trying, will it work up the same if I double/triple the “standard” size 4 yarn? I ask because I have already made 4 different ones and out of chunky yarn and the closest store is almost an hour away. Lol

I'm soo sorry it has taken me so long to get back with over the cork screw hat.I didn't give it enough time to take shape by not doing the HD round before I opened my mouth lol.I have been crocheting for 45 yrs and was bound to not let this pattern defeat me lol I have been 15 hats so far.I have also made plenty of the hats you posted with Landscape yarn going to take them to the cancer center.I didn't like the unforgivable yarn as it goes from thick to thin glad I only bought 1 skein of it.Again I'm sorry that I complain to you over the hat when it was me all along lol I love watching you as you are such a good teacher to newbies .I would guess by now your hubby is in good health I will keep him in my 🙏🙏 Thanks again hope your new year is starting out well for you HUGS

Sadly, my husband and biggest fan passed away 2 mths after posting this video. It could make it slightly smaller, I would stick with the hook size, I personally haven't tried it with another yarn weight though Peggy.. I'm sorry I couldnt help more on that 😔
@@chaysiecrochet I have made hats with 4 weight yarn, just double up the yarn. Use two strands of the 4 weight yarn and continue with the large hook. (M, N,). Hope that helps.

Hi Penny! I'm so sorry to hear!! I've made 3 of these already this winter and it flows so quickly and works up pretty soft with the yarn/hook I'm using so I'm really not sure =( I have to also follow my patterns when I first go back to them after a bit, and I'm not finding any mistakes in it. I wish I could help more, but this one I feel is actually one of my simpler & quicker hats to work up... for me anyhow. I hate not having any tips on one of my patterns when someone is struggling with it, but all I can really say is make sure not to tense up at all on this stitch, make DOUBLE sure you are not being too tight, (I know you said you weren't) but this is really the only area that I can think of that would make this hat more difficult. I live in Trinidad and Tobago, Tobago to be exact, but I find it very difficult to find crochet hooks and those beautiful colours of yarn. I have limited hooks and yarns which is of very cheap products. I wonder if you will be of any assistance in acquiring my tools in order to do some of those beautiful projects. I know of there are a lot of wool shops in England, but I no longer live there which is a shame now that I am interested in crocheting at the age of 65years.

I think it was fine. Anyone with knowledge of crochet basics should get this and any woman should realize life has distractions. I've seen tutorials made out to become so much more difficult than necessary. If all someone know how to do is chain stitch maybe hats just aren't yet on the menu. I loved it and I only hope if done in a blue fleck a guy can wear it in Montana cold weather.

@@pennywallace6991 make sure when you pull through all of the loops that you are veering a bit off to the right. The loops are somewhat twisted after pulling up through the front loop. Just make sure not to try too hard, it really does get very easy after the first few times of working the stitch. Slow and methodical to start, and after a bit, you will naturally start gliding through the loops. I promise it gets much quicker!

Hi Jennifer! I used one method to make one pom pom and an actual pom pom maker to make the other. You can check out my video on making your own pom poms with your hands, but in place of your hands for this size, I cut a piece of cardboard approx 6" in size and wrapped a lot of yarn around. I finished it off using the same ending as the video to make it a pom pom that would not pull apart. If you are using the Lion Brand Hometown USA, it is really easy to make this fun fluffy pom pom and not as much yarn as some others because it is a chunkier yarn. Just make sure to wrap several times until it is bulging pretty good, if you aren't sure if you've wrapped quite enough... wrap a few more times around. ;D
Oh... and never a bother Jennifer! Sorry... forgot to post my pom pom video.. but again, I did use a 6" piece of cardboard to wrap in place of my hand for this one and then used the method in the video to make it a pom pom that wouldn't fall apart =) ruclips.net/video/tCyTc3BVBVo/видео.html
After tying the 2 strands around your pom pom to hold the center of the pom pom together, leave those strands a little longer, weave them through the top of the hat and secure them in place. Let me know if you have any other issues... I'm afraid things are a little hectic here with my husband in the hospital, but if I have a moment I will try to throw a quick vid together for you.
It would be much more helpful if you would repeat the description of the stitch a few more times instead of stitching in silence. It's hard to follow visually when you're trying to do the stitch yourself at the same time.

I love this pattern! I am going to try to make a children's size with bulky#5 and smaller hook. I'll let you know how it turns out!
I used bulky 5 with an N15/10.00mm and got a 17" circumference! I did 12 rows total. Fits my 4 1/2 year old perfectly!!

@@pennywallace6991 make sure when you pull through all of the loops that you are veering a bit off to the right. The loops are somewhat twisted after pulling up through the front loop. Just make sure not to try too hard, it really does get very easy after the first few times of working the stitch. Slow and methodical to start, and after a bit, you will naturally start gliding through the loops. I promise it gets much quicker!

Hi Jennifer! I used one method to make one pom pom and an actual pom pom maker to make the other. You can check out my video on making your own pom poms with your hands, but in place of your hands for this size, I cut a piece of cardboard approx 6" in size and wrapped a lot of yarn around. I finished it off using the same ending as the video to make it a pom pom that would not pull apart. If you are using the Lion Brand Hometown USA, it is really easy to make this fun fluffy pom pom and not as much yarn as some others because it is a chunkier yarn. Just make sure to wrap several times until it is bulging pretty good, if you aren't sure if you've wrapped quite enough... wrap a few more times around. ;D
Oh... and never a bother Jennifer! Sorry... forgot to post my pom pom video.. but again, I did use a 6" piece of cardboard to wrap in place of my hand for this one and then used the method in the video to make it a pom pom that wouldn't fall apart =) ruclips.net/video/tCyTc3BVBVo/видео.html
After tying the 2 strands around your pom pom to hold the center of the pom pom together, leave those strands a little longer, weave them through the top of the hat and secure them in place. Let me know if you have any other issues... I'm afraid things are a little hectic here with my husband in the hospital, but if I have a moment I will try to throw a quick vid together for you.

It would be much more helpful if you would repeat the description of the stitch a few more times instead of stitching in silence. It's hard to follow visually when you're trying to do the stitch yourself at the same time.
