Definitely… will be making this hat, really appreciate discovering a better way to make the band with sc at each end, makes a big difference, thank you
I love this stitch. You gave great instructions.
very easy to understand instuctions and good suggestions on how not to go nuts over a missing or extra stitch ....thanks a lot ...this video was very useful for me
I love the star stitch and I have making hats from baby size to adult size. I have been in a women's ministry. I do a lot crocheting. Items are donated.
You are amazing, very clear and easy to understand
Such a thorough tutorial, thank you, being real and professional, I am new, at this, for almist a year, in April, I've been learning to occupy myself during the pandemic, true, but also to carry on what my mother had started 😀, she passed in 2014 due to cancer. I inherited all my grandmother and mothers yarn and told, so I wanted to honor them by trying to learn crochet myself and hand their talents and creativity with this craft, down to my grandchildren, I've enjoyed learning how to crochet, now, at age 56. I've made varieties of winter hats, I never really go by the patterns, even though I should, but I get creative with my own version, going by basics at first Abby try to make each hat with its own personality . I love this tutorial, it's easy to follow, and it looks beautiful, thank you for your patience and making sure we understand where and how to go about the correct stitches. I, too, doubt like that gap in the dream, so thanks a bunch, I'm gonna follow you for sure! Have a fab day! Happy hooking! 🧶🪡✌
First and foremost, THANK YOU FOR THIS TUTORIAL. I consider myself an intermediate crocheter and I had watch many many other tutorials on this stitch and I was never able to accomplish such a neat project. You are a wonderful teacher and I love how clean and simple you explain everything. Again, THANK YOU! Im so glad I found this channel. Im a fan now!
Me too
This is my all time favorite video and patterns I really wish you had more videos…
I can't follow written patterns very well, I need to "see" for it to make sense especially if I haven't done it before. I'm totally in love with this starr pattern that I'm going to make a scarf to match my beanie. I love the fact that I can pause the video and write out my own pattern the way I understand it. Your video was so easy to follow, you explained everything so well, no distractions 👍 I look forward to trying some more patterns by you, thank you so much.
I do the same thing. Watch a vid over and over and write it down the way it makes sense to me. What ever makes it happen :)
I almost gave up on the first star but rewinded a few times and got it. Talk about satisfaction! Working on my second one now!
I love that you have both the messy bun hat and continue showing how to make it into a regular hat. I had never put in elastics in my messy bun hats. I will have to go get some elastics so that I can start doing that too! Thank you for the thorough explanations! Take care!
You can also go into back loop of the first stitch and the front loop of the last stitch to single crochet or slip stitch the brim together.. That's how I do it. I hope this helps. Thank you very much for the tutorial, April. You're a great teacher. Be blessed. 💕💕
Your directions are so clear! I have been trying to learn this Starr stitch for awhile...thank you for your video, it has explained this stitch so clearly...now I am making this hat for my granddaughter...thank you again 👍👍🥰🥰⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I have been searching for and testing hat patterns for a month to find one that would work for men and women for Christmas presents, and this one is just perfect and seasonal looking! It's so quick and perfectly explained, and I feel just the same about spaces around the seams. I made a child size in just a couple of hours and it is gorgeous. Thank you so, so much for sharing this!
I really like the way you taught this stitch. You made it very easy to see and follow. I love the colors you chose too. Thanks
Thank you so much for sharing. I decided to follow along with you and made one in a off white. Turned our pretty nice for my first time ever crocheting a star messy bun.
I love this beanie pattern. I recently led a CAL on how to make it. Everyone had been begging me to do one with this pattern for ages and I finally caved.
Thank you kindly for this tutorial. I always wanted to know how to crochet the star stitch but just couldn't understand it. Your instruction is clear and your demonstration is excellent!!! It's such a lovely stitch!!
love it i have now made the hat, i have enjoyed crocheting along with you I have enjoyed your teaching very much you're really good at teaching I was able to follow alone with you I hope to see more from you may God bless
I’ve now attempted making the messy bun hat and I have to say it turned out well. I’m quite happy with this pattern as well. Now I have my gloves and hat. Thanks for sharing these tutorials it was so beneficial to me. I’ll be using these patterns for Christmas presents 🎁
This is my second time I’m making this hat and I just want to say you have taught me the best and prettiest way to crochet a brim. Ladies make your brims like she does. This star stitch is beautiful. I made the last one with Caron Pantone in white and the aqua shades and I did the pony tail hat. This next one I’m making the full hat. Thank you so much!
Thank for this video. I enjoy learning how to make the star stitch, messy bun hat, it came out nice..thank you again EVE
Thank you for sharing. It’s very cute. This will be my next project to make.
thank you I followed your video and make a star stitch messy hat Im hooked on the star stitch

My name is Debra Simmons and I just want to say that I love ur work. I had made ur other hat with the bow and everyone that I made one say it looks just like urs. U are a remarkable teacher. And I love the way u teach. Keep up the great amazing work because people like me really need to learn with a great crochet person like u. Thank u for helping me to learn.

Thank very much so easy to follow have a good day
I was very intimidated by this pattern but her explanations and visuals re so good that I did it and it was beautiful!!!
Loved it!
Thanks for this clear video and appreciate that there is no music. Best join for this stitch that I have seen!
I made 2. love them!
I loved your slow and easy directions and the fact you are a perfectionist with that joining. It was nice you found a way to join and it not have a gap. When I followed all the way up to the near last row there were 2 stitches off. I then got Yarn OCD. It was too much. I can't handle that. I backed up 2 rows and closed with a draw string. Six inches is plenty past the brim any way.
Hi. It was a very beautiful beanie hat. I am going to make some for my relatives. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent directions and demonstrations! WOW! You leave no questions! Way to go!
Absolutely love this hat, had it done in no time! Ive been crocheting since 1969 and I’m so glad I don’t have to dig and wait for the patterns to appear in my monthly magazine. Us crocheters had little to play with in those days, and the different stitches were few... so glad those days are gone... Your instruction are super great for the old timers and the new crocheters alike, thank you so much... 💋 Your very talented!
I'm so glad you were able to use my video even crocheting as long as you have. I bet you crochet fast and beautifully. May your new year be full of blessings. ❤
@@StitchUponAStarr Thank you, I love blessings... (smile) I’m a crochetaholic and do my best at 70 years old, this Texas gal needs younger hands, but that said... Full Specturm Hemp Oil from my doc sure does help! Bless you... and I’m praying your year is full of fun, family and friends and of course lots of crocheting 💋 ❤️
I've always loved the Star Stitch, but just never had the patience to do it the way other tutorials showed how to do it. All because of how wonderful your tutorial is, I'm finally able to do the Star Stitch!!! Thank you SO much for making such a great tutorial!!! Please keep your tutorials coming!!!
Audra Hatton I'm SO happy to hear this. You're so welcome! Xoxo
Thanks for teaching us how to make this lovely hat, I loved it and your explanations are so clear, that's very important, specially for me that I'm not English speaker.
Great tutorial! Thanks!
So easy to follow I never made bottom up hats cause I mever knew where to place the stitches now I know! Thanks💖💕
Beautiful stitch! Your tutorial was so easy to follow. The hat turned out great. Please make more tutorials, this one was soooo easy to follow. I love it and love my grandson's new hat.
Wow, you make it look so easy...I've tried it before and failed, but I want to try it again now. Thanks so much!
Fantastic video, it was driving me nuts how at the end of the row of the star I had a hole. You are an awesome teacher. I am left handed so this video gave me the confidence that my next star hat will be a success.
Best tutorial I have seen on the star stitching thank you so much! I also learned a new way to change color without cutting off every row lol. I am super happy this is so pretty! I improvised the patter for a chunky yarn and have super stars yay!
Tammera Craft how did you improvise? I have several colors I’m itching to use lol
Love this hat!! Now I’m obsessed with stars!

Christy J oh good. I'm glad I could help. Thank you! 😊
Love love love this hat! I did my very first project crocheting and I chose a messy bun hat. Long story short, i got it to fit over my bun using the hair tie, but the pattern I used, worked from top to bottom. When I got the hat to fit over my head and had the length I wanted (long enough to cover my ears), I noticed how plain my rim looked. So, I decided to use a scrap piece from another project and crocheted it to my rim and added the crochet bow to the back. I so wish i would have seen this video before I did all that work lol
Lo hice y me quedo bien bonito
Thanks ,you teach very clearly I hope having another video from yoi

Awesome hat! Thank you.
Thank you ! I just made this hat tonight :) great instruction !
Cheryl H. yah!! glad to hear it!! 😉
Thank you so much for this video. I didnt even watch it before i started and had no problem crocheting along. Because the star stitch is a little bit bigger this adorable doesn't take as much time as some other inticate beanie patterns. Also, just curious why the two skinny hair ties. Could you use one normal one instead?
Hi April: enjoyed your tutorial, found it was easy to follow....on my 2nd hat already thanks
