    Two things......
    1) 17:34 They are all eunuchs though. Kraznys tells Dany in episode 1 that at the age of 5 they begin their training and are fully castrated. It's a good tidbit to keep in mind to provide a deeper appreciation for Daenerys and the Unsullied's relationship with one another. They're more than just a fearless, badass army of slaves who have just been freed. They were slaves who were brutalized from a young age to become emotionless warriors.
    2) Trin is the most adorable human being ever. That is all...I'll see myself out.

    Brienne doesn't call him a woman in the books. She calls him a craven, a coward and tells him he must live to get revenge. We can only speculate why they decided to change the line, maybe they were trying to call back to Jaime's "if I were a woman I'd make them kill me" comment or maybe they thought it was too close to the speech Cat gave to Brienne when Renly died(which ironically enough they also changed from its book version where Cat tells her to fight for the living not the dead into "you can't avenge Renly if you're dead") I don't know, but I think overall it was a poor change.

    • @thecockerel86

      It was an especially poor line coming from Brienne.

    • @johnnyskinwalker4095
      @johnnyskinwalker4095 Год назад +4

      @@thecockerel86 Brienne doesn't see herself as a lady, she sees herself as a knight of sort and part of the boys. She wants to fight like men and being part of the clan. Telling him he was like a woman makes complete sense. And esp. in medieval times guys were very macho.They understood each other clearly when she said it.

    • @thecockerel86
      @thecockerel86 Год назад +6

      @@johnnyskinwalker4095 Brienne sees herself as a female knight. Infact, when she was learning sword fighting from the castellan at Evenfall, she was taught to use the fact that that she was a swordswoman to her advantage. She was told to fight on the defensive because men would seek to overpower her quickly in a fight, lest it be thought that she was taxing them a bit too much. She taught to tire them out before striking. She saw herself as a swordswoman and a knight. If you go through her chapters from ACOK through AFFC, she has disdain for most men, and rightly so imo. She never saw herself as a man, nor did she think of women as weak.

    • @johnnyskinwalker4095
      @johnnyskinwalker4095 Год назад +1

      @@thecockerel86 But that's not the character from the show, though. I appreciate that GRRM had the intelligence to realise that the genetics are different and that she had to fight differently. But Brienne on the show very much fights in a brutish manner and they never make a difference in physical strenght between her and any man.
      Not only that but Brienne actually sees a difference between men and women when she tell Cat that she sees courage in her saying "not a man's courage(meaning in battle) perhaps but a woman's courage" as far as a form of feminine dignity. In medieval times men and women were very different in the way they were raised. Most girls growing up were raised like Sansa to be princesses and all wished to marry princes. Or when men were plowing the field, women were sowing. People tend to see the World with a modern prism. It's not as if it was today and someone would say "you whine like a bloody woman". Back then being a woman was not just a gender thing. Being a woman was completely different. It was actually a role. You had to dress a certain way, act a certain way. Men and women were different creatures.

    • @ItsLexy
      @ItsLexy Год назад +2

      @@johnnyskinwalker4095 I just want to point out that if you are using the "back then this was how it was" argument you've shot your own point about Brienne seeing herself as a man in the foot. In the past gender was irrevocably tied to the sex you were born with, at least in European culture. Brienne would never be able to see herself as a man because she would be aware, every month, she did not possess the "right" body to be a man. Sex = Gender was a rigid concept in medieval times and even women who went to war like Joan of Arc or Caterina Sforza would not have considered themselves to be men. The sexism of the "you sound like a bloody woman" quote from the show probably is a period accurate display of the kind of talk Brienne would say if she were a real medieval person as warrior women frequently are quoted as diminishing their gender's ability for battle and outlining how they were exceptional in that regard, however, the show erases many instances and encounters where Brienne is confronted with the fact she's a woman so "doesn't belong" in the martial role she's taken, making the show even less accurate to medieval history than the books. Regardless even if the show was trying to restore so historically accurate conflict or not, it's still a poor change from the source material's quote because the show is written in modern times, for a modern day audience and because Brienne's relationship in the book with gender is already very complex without having her be another woman with internalized misogyny(that's Cersei's role in the story tbh). Instead of changing the line should have left in quite many of the instances knights and smallfolk alike tell Brienne she is behaving "inappropriately" for her station as a lady and that she needs to fall in line with her gender's role. Ironically Brienne in notable instances in the book might struggle to identify with her sex as her gender, once she slips up and almost calls herself Selwyn of Tarth's only son, but GRRM has stated because the concept of being trans in the modern day sense did not exist in the medieval sphere he doesn't think the label applies to Brienne or any other characters he's written. So book or show Brienne would identify as a woman, and consider herself either an exceptional woman or a freak because she could not fulfill the gender role that came with the identity.
