Appreciate the quality of your videos, keep this up. One way to increase knowledge about any game I found to be helpful is to be curious and experiment with different elements of the game and learning the core aspects. Once you've mastered the key elements you apply your knowledge and developed skills in creative ways.

  • @maskoblackfyre

    Nice video.
I've been thinking about this topic a lot, because I have a high IQ and like playing FPS games. But out of all my teammates I seem to struggle to most in games, even though I know the maps and the variables of the game better.
And what I've found, which isn't an end-all-be-all rule, is that I tend to overthink situations a lot more. I even give the opposing team more "credit" than they actually deserve. What I mean by that is that I expect situations that don't often seem to transpire. I set up for a complex maneuver in combat, but I end up getting killed by the simplest maneuver. If that makes any sense.
My friends, the people I play with, don't think about strategy as much. They just "flow". They play and focus on specific simple tasks, while I constantly overthink situations. I also unconsciously get bored with certain "easy" strategies and try to be creative too often, while they're perfectly content doing what needs to be done to win.
So I'm in no way claiming that this is exactly why lower IQ players do better, because they're "simple". But I do think that repetition of the same motion can be a problem for high IQ players because they have more trouble keeping their interest high, as opposed to players with lower IQ that don't even register that "problem".
Does that make sense to anyone?

but not every game needs as much brainpower as chess. i mean when you think about it, outplaying the enemy is all there is in chess, you dont have to have "better mechanics" better aim etc. But when it comes to other games, like football, or esports, other things, like reaction times, consistant aim, etc. are becoming way more importand, while pure "brainpower" might give you a certain advantage, but nothing that you cant overcome on other ways.

I disagree that you can compare the chess study to playing video games. Of course practice helps with everything, but gaming is a lot different from chess. High IQ let's people remove "interference" from the information they take in. Gaming is an overload of information, and being able to focus on the most appropriate pieces in milliseconds, especially in FPS is going to give you a huge advantage. You can learn to focus better to a certain extent, but you have to be realistic. Also top level grandmasters all have extremely high IQ, so there is a point where genetics do overcome everything else. Learn your strengths and play to them.

Yes, some people are focused how to beat and outsmart others. Others are focused how to achieve goals good for everyone - clearly in games, someone must loose. And for example me, I dont like to beat someone down. So my brain just does not come with those ideas. I like helping others, helping machines to be more productive, so thats why Im doing IT and my brain likes to come with those ideas.

@@eathletelabs hope so and want so, but what if eSports will be really big and videos like these will be released more and more. And I'm pretty sure you want to sell your merchandise as I saw in the video. To succeed that you need more and more people to view this. Right? Idk. I'm happy I came across your RUclips channel when it's smaller but I also want you to succeed but at the same time I want this to be a secret. I don't even know anymore lol

I have an IQ of like 85 or 90 but I'm a pro gamer and my memory is perfectly fine I'm very good at memorizing all the ins and outs of games and I was diagnosed by a dr with a learning disability witch is why I have mostly competed in special Olympics but I'm a very good and skilled gamer because I worked hard to get to where I am in video games it is kind of hard but first of all that's because I'm moving up and going from competing against people with disabilities and instead competing against people with master skills so its just really stress its not so much disability and it's making up enough time to put into the gaming I don't think IQ matters that much at all you just got to work your but off and beleive in your self it's hard for everyone but it takes alot of time patients hard work dedication commitment and many more I don't think IQ has much or if nothing at all to do with it maybe a little tiny fraction but know I don't think by much at all

"Science doesn't lie right". Except its not that simple, in fact if you do research you would know that it is important to criticise papers as the way they collect data or the analysis of it can be flawed. And saying that, it would really help if you gave a link to the study.

Your skill in esports games correlates with your intelligence. We can therefore potentially use visuospatial IQ tests to find gifted esports players from a young age, even before they play the games.
So higher your iq, better your ganeplay.
